As I stood there in a daze, Chu Fan and Li Li had already reached the door, which was opened by Mother Chu. Upon seeing the two of them, her face lit up with joy, clearly fond of Li Li. 0

I quickly ran over and pressed the doorbell. When the door opened again, it was a middle-aged woman who looked at me coldly. "Who are you looking for?" 0

"Sorry, my name is Gu Anxin. I'm here to see Chu Fan." 0

"Oh, so you're Gu Anxin!" The woman's disdainful gaze swept over me. "My lady has instructed that you are not allowed in. If you know what's good for you, just leave. Otherwise, I'll call security." 0

I knew Mother Chu didn't like me, but I didn't expect her to dislike me to this extent. In order to see Chu Fan, I could only lower my voice and plead, "Please let me see Chu Fan for just a moment. I just want to talk to him." 0

"No way." 0

The woman's attitude was resolute. Seeing that there was no way around it, I stretched my neck and shouted inside, "Chu Fan! It's Anxin! Chu Fan—" 0

"Enough! Stop making a scene and get lost." 0

The woman shoved me aside. I crouched down and rushed inside. Before I could even register my excitement, a wave of dizziness hit me. Then I saw a blurry figure approaching, looking at me with a half-smile and saying, "Anxin, Chu Fan is mine. Don't think you can take him away. As for everything you've done before, I'll return it all to you. There can only be one daughter-in-law of the Chu family, and that's me." 0

Then everything went dark. In the dimness, I found myself walking alone on an unfamiliar road. "Where am I? What is this?" 0

I noticed some liquid flowing down the slope towards my feet. Looking down, I saw it was all bright red; the smell of blood gradually filled the air. 0

I stepped aside and then heard someone calling my name over and over again, very familiar, "Anxin! Anxin!" 0

I looked up and felt someone approaching through the darkness ahead. The whispers echoed in my ears, piercing into my heart and compelling me to run forward recklessly. "Jun Chong!" 0

As the mist before me cleared, revealing a glimmer of light, I halted in my tracks, my heart racing faster than ever. 0

"Anxin." 0

Jun Chong was covered in blood, his clothes tattered, struggling to approach me. With each step he took, he left a trail of blood behind him. His once handsome face was now pale, and his eyes had lost their original brilliance and sharpness, becoming dull and lifeless. 0

His fair hand was marred with scars, yet he still reached out to me, his voice barely a whisper, "Anxin, save me." 0

With a thud, his tall frame collapsed to the ground, splattering blood everywhere and tearing my heart apart in the process. 0

I ran to him without a second thought. When I touched him, I was shocked to find that his temperature was even colder than before. My hand trembled uncontrollably. 0

"Jun Chong, what happened to you? Jun Chong—" 0

I leaped out of bed, my outstretched hand reaching into emptiness. Where was Jun Chong? The outside world was bright; it was still daytime. 0

"Jun Chong! Jun Chong!" 0

I threw off the covers and jumped out of bed, flinging open the door as I rushed outside, startling Molin who was entering with a bowl in hand. "Gu Anxin, what's wrong? You need to take your medicine." 0

"No! I have to find Jun Chong! Let go of me! He’s seriously injured; he needs me to save him! He’s calling for me! I need to go to Tianshan to find him! Let go of me!" 0

In my frenzy, I struggled with Molin and accidentally knocked the bowl from his hands. The hot medicine spilled onto my skin, but I didn’t feel the pain; nothing could compare to the moment my heart shattered. 0

"Gu Anxin, I understand you're worried about Jun Chong, but there's no need to go crazy. You've been cursed by someone. If I hadn't arrived in time, you would have died—do you understand?" 0

"Everything would be better if I were dead. If it weren't for me, Jun Chong wouldn't be in trouble. If I die, it would all end, and I could become a ghost to find him more easily." 0

A sharp slap struck my cheek, leaving a burning pain. 0

Molin glared at me, fuming with anger. "If you die, all his efforts will be in vain. Do you want him to face danger for nothing? You say you love him, yet you can't even promise to live well for him. How can you call that love? How can you treat your relationship with sincerity?" 0

Molin's harsh words and the slap jolted me awake. I remembered Jun Chong telling me more than once, "Anxin, you must live well." 0

Everyone knows that a union between a human and a ghost rarely ends well, so if I became a ghost too, being with Jun Chong might be better. But Jun Chong has always insisted that I must not die, and he is resolute about it. Though he hasn't said much, I know he truly believes this. 0

But what am I doing now? Crying and lamenting, truly believing in that dream? Believing that Jun Chong is dead? 0

Shizui wants me to believe in Jun Chong and in myself. If I believe that Jun Chong is dead, then I've given up on him too soon; that would be unfair to him. 0

"Are you calm now?" Molin pulled me over to the sofa and warned, "Sit still. I'll go get you some medicine." 0

After swallowing the bitter medicine from that night, Molin plopped down beside me. "I received news from Shizui at Sect that something happened to you. I was so scared I couldn't stay put. What exactly happened? What happened to Jun Chong? Although I don't approve of your relationship, I know losing him would make it hard for you to carry on. So tell me everything." 0

I recounted everything that had happened since he left. When I mentioned Chu Fan's body being missing, Molin suddenly dashed to the freezer and took a long time to come back. 0

"What happened?" 0

"There’s no trace of any living presence in the freezer, but there are fluctuations of souls and remnants of Curse energy. That scent is the same as what I smelled when I found you at Chu Fan's house. Someone must have cast a spell to awaken the real Chu Fan, which explains what you've seen." 0

"The real Chu Fan awakened?" I blinked in confusion. "But isn't the real Chu Fan dead?" 0

"Who told you that he was dead?" 0

"A car accident!" I recounted the initial events involving Chu Fan and Jun Chong, then recalled something else. "When Jun Chong was at home, I barely saw Chu Fan. He never let me be alone with Chu Fan's body. But one night, I think I saw Chu Fan's corpse calling out for help, yet Jun Chong said it was just a wild ghost. Wasn't that the case?" 0

"There’s a possibility. Perhaps Chu Fan wasn’t actually dead at that time, but his soul was damaged and fell into a state of suspended animation, allowing Jun Chong to take advantage of the situation. He is powerful enough to suppress another soul and completely replace his body. However—" 0

"But what?" 0

Molin rested his chin on his hand, pondering as he spoke. "But he left Chu Fan's body behind when he departed, and he must have cast a spell to seal Chu Fan's soul. Now, if Chu Fan's soul unexpectedly awakens and drives the body away, coinciding with the time when Jun Chong went missing, I believe this is definitely the result of someone orchestrating things from behind." 0

I felt a chill run down my spine at his words, my mind racing to figure out who could have done this. Suddenly, a thought struck me, and I grabbed Molin's hand. "Could it be that person from before?" 0

Molin glanced at me and nodded in agreement. "Regardless, now that Chu Fan is back and with Li Li, I think they will definitely go to school. We should head there now." 0

"But they returned to the Chu Family." 0

"You've been asleep for half a day and night; it's already the next day." 0

"Huh? I slept that long?" 0

Molin nodded and stood up from the sofa. "Quickly change your clothes; we need to go to school right now." 0

Not wanting to delay any longer, I hurriedly changed my clothes and left with Molin. As we approached the school, everyone who recognized me cast various looks our way. 0

Some were filled with pity, while others seemed to revel in my misfortune. I guessed they all knew that Chu Fan was back together with Li Li. 0

"After a soul awakens, it needs a certain amount of yang energy to replenish itself in a body that has been dormant for so long." Molin had his hands in his pockets, slowly following behind me. "What's going on over there? Let's go take a look." 0

I looked up and saw a crowd gathered not far away. Most of them seemed to be there just to watch, and from the sounds, it appeared that two women were arguing. 0

As I approached, I saw Lin You slap Wu Fang. "You better watch your mouth. Just because Chu Fan and Li Li are together now doesn't mean you can slander Anxin. Anxin is my friend, and anyone who dares to touch her will have to deal with me." 0

"Shut up." Wu Fang stood protectively in front of Li Li, spitting on the ground. "Look at you and Anxin; you both look like discarded trash. Chu Fan's mother told Li Li yesterday that once they graduate in June, they'll get engaged. Your Anxin can go cry somewhere else! Isn't that right, Li Li?" 0

"Of course." Li Li smiled smugly at the flushed Lin You. "Chu Fan said he was under a spell cast by Anxin to like her. Now that he's finally free, he can see Anxin's true colors. A woman who treats her man with such cruelty using a curse is terrifying to think about." 0

"Li Li, is what you're saying true? Gu Anxin can cast spells?" 0

"Absolutely." When she heard someone ask her, and many in the crowd began to murmur about it, Li Li raised an eyebrow, becoming even more arrogant. "Just look at how worn out Chu Fan looks now; he said it himself. If he truly liked Anxin and wasn't under a spell, why would he say such things? Many of you have known Chu Fan for a long time; don't you know what kind of person he is?" 0

"That's true; Chu Fan has always been a good person, not someone who abandons others." 0

"Right? He was with Li Li before but suddenly ended up with Gu Anxin. I thought it was strange at the time; who knew it was really Gu Anxin who cast a spell? That woman is truly frightening." 0

"Ah, there she is." 0

Someone spotted me at the back of the crowd. Everyone instinctively parted to make way for me, keeping their distance as if afraid I would hold a grudge against them for what they had said. 0
