I recounted everything to Shizui, then pointed at the box. "It's this Wooden Box. As soon as I opened it, a blood Red Skull burst out, making an enormous noise. Later, in my daze, I felt it was coming to grab me, but somehow it just vanished, and then you arrived." 0

"Suddenly disappeared?" Shizui frowned and asked, "Are you sure there was no one else in the room at that time?" 0

I was feeling dizzy and uncomfortable. Seeing this, Shizui said, "You've been hurt. Let me take you back first." 0

He was about to bend down to pick me up when a whirlwind mixed with Malice rushed in. Shizui paused for a moment and then stepped back. I looked up and found myself enveloped in Jun Chong's arms. 0

Feeling the chill emanating from him, I relaxed completely and reached out to embrace him weakly, calling out softly, "Jun Chong." 0

"Damn it, I've fallen for a diversion tactic," Jun Chong said as he lifted me effortlessly, his brow heavy with Malice and radiating intense killing intent. "Let's go back." 0

"Okay," Shizui replied, grabbing the Wooden Box from the bed and leaping out of the window, disappearing into the darkness. 0

Once we returned home, Jun Chong set me down on the sofa. Tian Yuan saw me in this state and let out whimpering sounds, wanting to come closer but retreating due to Jun Chong's overwhelming killing intent. It could only stand aside, gazing at me with its dark eyes. 0

I couldn't see clearly but sensed it was nearby. I smiled faintly and extended my hand. "Tian Yuan, don't worry. I'm fine." 0

"You almost shattered your eardrums and retinas and you're saying you're fine!" Jun Chong shouted at me furiously. "Why didn't you use the Phantom Spirit Pearl to protect yourself?" 0

The Phantom Spirit Pearl? 0

I managed a weak smile. "I didn't think of it; I was too scared at that moment." 0

"I told you the Phantom Spirit Pearl can create barriers. Remember to use it whenever you're in danger and I'm not around." Jun Chong was genuinely angry, his voice booming. He sighed heavily at last. "Now close your eyes." 0

His thumbs covered my eyes, the cool touch seeping through my skin and into my being, gradually warming up, like stretching limbs under the sun. 0

I leaned back against the sofa and suddenly asked, "Jun Chong, did you know that the Phantom Spirit Pearl can draw my blood?" 0

I felt Jun Chong's hands pause before he replied, "Who told you that?" 0

"Lin Shan." 0

"You can't trust her; the Phantom Spirit Pearl will only protect you." 0

But Molin had no reason to lie to me. Jun Chong, is there something you're hiding from me? 0

Yet I didn't ask. Anxin's closed eyes allowed him to heal me, while Shizui stood silently by. I didn't know how long it had been, but eventually, I could see and hear everything clearly. 0

Blinking, Shizui brought over a glass of water. "Is there anything else uncomfortable?" 0

"No, thank you, Shizui." 0

Jun Chong sat to the side, examining the Wooden Box from different angles. His profile was shrouded in dim light, giving him an ethereal quality, yet the malice surrounding him remained palpable and undiminished. 0

"This box is made of Sophora Wood," he said, turning it around with his long fingers before placing it on the coffee table. "And it's a thousand-year-old Sophora Wood." 0

"Sophora Wood?" I blinked and said, "Isn't Sophora Wood used for gathering spirits?" 0

"Gathering spirits and summoning ghosts; it's perfect for such purposes." Jun Chong tapped the empty box and continued, "But it's empty now; it once contained blood." 0

"Blood?" Shizui moved over to sit on the opposite sofa, a look of confusion on his face. "Anxin said something attacked her from the box, but that thing suddenly fled when it tried to kill her." 0

Jun Chong furrowed his brows. "It ran away?" 0

"Yes," I nodded. "I was really scared at the time, my senses were fading, but I could clearly feel it leaving. Oh, right!" 0

Both of them looked at me expectantly. I scratched my head and said, "After that thing left and before Shizui arrived, I smelled a pleasant, cool scent. I thought it was you, but it wasn't." 0

"A pleasant, cool scent?" Shizui showed a puzzled expression. "That's tricky, but it doesn't rule out the possibility of a third party being present." 0

Jun Chong's expression darkened further, becoming even more chilling. "This matter ends here; you don't need to involve yourself any further." 0

He slammed his hand down decisively, and I immediately panicked, grabbing his hand. "Don't." 0

"I don't care if you cry or throw a tantrum; the fact is you were hurt, and you absolutely cannot get involved in this again." Jun Chong was clearly genuinely angry this time. He stood with his hands behind his back, turning away from me, his tone leaving no room for refusal. "Tao Wu, keep an eye on her. If she dares to step outside even once, you know the consequences." 0

"Tao Wu acknowledges the order." 0

I bit my lip and sat on the sofa without moving, watching Jun Chong's determined figure leave. A sense of helpless sadness washed over me as my vision began to blur until I could no longer see him. 0

"He is worried about you." 0

Shizui tossed something toward me; it landed in my lap—a fluffy creature that snuggled against me, its little tongue licking my hand while it whimpered at me. My nose tinged with emotion as I stroked Tian Yuan's head, my voice choked with tears. "I know." 0

Shizui sat down beside me and turned to look at me. "If you know that, why are you crying?" 0

"I'm just unwilling." I wiped away the tears from the corners of my eyes and hugged Tian Yuan tightly. "I know he is powerful and I understand how weak I am. I'm also very clear that when danger arises, I can't always hide under his protection. Honestly, after realizing that I've truly fallen for him, I've wanted—even if it's just a little—to use my own hands to protect myself so he wouldn't worry. I want to bring him help instead of trouble. But every time it seems like I've only ended up getting hurt and causing him trouble." 0

Tears flowed uncontrollably down my cheeks as I desperately wiped them away with the back of my hand, blinking to keep from letting them soak everything. With a faint smile on my lips, I continued speaking. "I know he's really angry this time, so I dare not argue back. Shizui, don't worry; I'll definitely behave and won't cause him any trouble. You still need to go find the sealing place with him, right? Hurry up! I'll be fine with Tao Wu and Tian Yuan keeping me company. Nothing will happen to me. After a busy night, I'm tired too; I'm going to wash my face and then sleep." 0

Shizui shook his head gently, a look of concern in his eyes. He leaned against my shoulder with a soft pressure, then wrapped me in his arms. My body stiffened as his warm palm rested on my hair, stroking it lightly, his voice soothing like flowing water. 0

"Anxin, I know your strength and understand that you want to stand on the same line as him—not to be a burden but to be a source of strength for him. However, none of this can be rushed. For him, protecting you is his duty as a man; your safety is his greatest light. If you want to cry, then cry; if you want to laugh, then laugh. Be your true self, and he will find even more joy in watching you. So go ahead and cry out loud! Don't put too much pressure on yourself; your ease is his greatest happiness." 0

"My ease is his greatest happiness." 0

I whispered this phrase, recalling the laughter of these past days—genuine joy that I had longed for, a peaceful life I cherished. I couldn't bear to interrupt it, which made me even more reluctant to let go. 0

"Yes. Because only you can save him; only you can change his decision." 0

Shizui gently caressed my hair, his soft voice wrapped in a misty haze, as if it came from far away. I felt completely relaxed, a mix of weariness and drowsiness washing over me until I could no longer hear the fading sound. 0

"Anxin, please save him." 0

When I woke up the next morning and light returned to the earth, I turned to see Jun Chong half-reclining at the edge of the bed. As soon as he noticed I was awake, he placed his large hand over my eyes. "Does it still hurt?" 0

I shook my head, looking at him without wanting to speak. He stared back at me and then sighed slowly before getting up from the bed. "Since you're awake, let's get something to eat!" 0

I was taken aback and didn’t respond immediately but eventually got up to wash up in the bathroom. When I came out, he was already gone from the bedroom. As I opened the door, a delightful aroma wafted through the air. 0

Shizui appeared just then, carrying a plate of pancakes from the kitchen, the fragrance filling the room. He smiled slightly upon seeing me. "You're awake? Come have breakfast." 0

I looked at the table full of Chinese breakfast dishes and asked, "Did you make all this?" 0

"I haven't cooked in a long time; I'm not sure if my skills have declined." 0

"You can cook this?" Although Shizui was gentle and refined, he was ultimately the foremost Rakshasa of the underworld—a warrior on the battlefield—so it surprised me that he could cook. 0

Shizui sat down beside me, intertwining his fingers under his chin as he looked at me. "Rou Er taught me." 0

"Rou Er?" 0

"Yes. Molin's sister, Jian Rou." Shizui spoke calmly, smiling at me. "I always wanted to make something for her to eat, but the opportunity was lost to death. So, you're the first one to taste my cooking. You have to tell me if it's good." 0

I had been eating with chopsticks, my stomach growling with hunger. But hearing him say that made my nose tingle and tears well up in my eyes. Shizui noticed and quickly handed me a tissue. "Why are you crying all of a sudden? Is it that bad?" 0

"No." I looked at the food on the table, wiped away my tears, and forced a smile. "Even though I've never met Jian Rou, she would have loved to sit here and eat what you made for her because it would have made her very happy. Today, I have this honor, and I'm happy for myself and for Jian Rou too. Remember, I'm tasting it for her." 0

I lowered my head and picked up the bowl of porridge, starting to eat slowly while holding back my tears. 0

Shizui stared at me in a daze for a moment before coming back to himself. As he raised his hand, a tear slipped from the corner of his eye. He looked bewildered for a moment before finally laughing while rubbing his forehead. 0

After finishing the meal, I received a call from the security guard saying there was a package that required my personal signature because the delivery person was uneasy about leaving it with just anyone. 0

"Go ahead; let the fox follow you." 0

With Jun Chong's approval, I went back to my room to change clothes before heading out. Just as I opened the door, I saw Jun Chong and Shizui standing by the window, whispering about something. When they noticed me, Jun Chong frowned slightly while Shizui said, "We have something to take care of; Tao Wu will accompany you. Come back quickly after you get the package." 0
