She told us not to throw the box away after using it but to keep it by our pillows because it had calming properties. We all believed her. I thought it was a miracle drug and didn't care when Bai Su asked for more blood as long as I became beautiful and popular. Bai Su was very nice; she would often check in online about our results, and we chatted happily without realizing this was just the beginning of our crisis."
At this point, she shivered as if recalling something terrifying, making her already pale face turn even whiter with dark undertones—a sign of impending death.
I glanced at Jun Chong; he placed his hand on my shoulder and shook his head.
After sobbing for a while and taking a sip of water, the woman continued, "That night when Little died, I went to find her because I noticed my body had become weak and fatigued lately. The moment she lifted her shirt, I fell to the ground in terror—her entire abdomen was crawling with maggots! They were swarming out from inside her body. I covered my mouth, suppressing my urge to vomit as I listened.

Following her instructions, I hid in her closet and soon saw Little bring Bai Su inside. After becoming beautiful, Little's temperament changed significantly; they started arguing over trivial matters until finally Little grabbed a fruit knife from the table and aimed it at Bai Su. In my panic—though angry—she couldn't hurt anyone! Just as I prepared to step out, I saw a massive tail whip out from behind Bai Su and wrap around Little tightly, lifting her off the ground. Through the gap in the closet door, I clearly saw that it was an enormous white snake tail connected to Bai Su's body; her legs had transformed into a snake's body with snake patterns on her beautiful face while forked tongues flicked from her mouth. At that moment, I was terrified beyond belief—I didn't dare move an inch while hiding in the closet."
Seeing her tremble violently again, I stood up and poured her another cup of water. "Take your time."
"Thank you." The woman's eyes glistened with tears as she forced herself to take a sip of water. "At that moment Bai Su revealed that she needed four girls born under Midnight for some kind of trial; using their snake blood for nourishment once a month would help maintain her strength until ultimately consuming their souls would allow her to pass through successfully. She had been searching for quite some time when she discovered that there were exactly four of us living in this neighborhood—a stroke of luck! She lured us into this trap under the pretense of friendship while claiming there were many weak Earthbound Spirits here along with plenty of men whose essence could nourish her further—so she planned on staying here for more victims. But we four were already past due; we had to be consumed first."
Then I watched in horror as Bai Su sliced open Little's abdomen while controlling Little herself to dig out her own organs with bare hands! What followed made me sick—everything Little consumed fell right back out of her body as if caught in an endless cycle of horror! She toyed with Little until those maggots slowly devoured all of Little's insides! At that moment another version of Little floated out from within—presumably Little's soul! A beam of white light dragged it away while Bai Su panicked and chased after it without caring about the blood anymore—after which she never returned! Terrified beyond measure at what I'd witnessed—I finally ran out."
"I was afraid of being found by the snake demon, so I hid, especially after hearing that Xia Yu had also died. Xiaofeng called to tell me that Xia Yu had aged so much that she couldn't take it anymore and jumped off a building to her death. She mentioned that she had also started showing signs of aging and asked if I had experienced any. Xiaofeng also said she took Little and Xia Yu's computers, intending to expose our communications with Bai Su to prevent her from deceiving anyone else. I knew it would be useless even if she did expose it because humans cannot punish a snake demon. I didn't tell Xiaofeng to stop her efforts, but I suspected she wouldn't succeed. I was too scared to go outside and spent my days hiding until a voice suddenly told me that someone named Gu Anxin could save me, urging me to seek them out if I didn't want to die. I was startled. "Could it be that mysterious person?" After saying this, I shook my head again. "They probably wouldn’t help us; maybe it’s not them."
"Regardless of who it is, they’re just bringing you trouble; they’re not good people. You should get some rest."
The next morning, I heard that someone in the neighborhood had died again—it was the woman from last night. It was only then that I realized I had never asked for her name.
She died in her own home; her abdomen was cut open, looking like an old woman—her death was horrifying. Not long after, I learned from the gossiping aunties that the girl who had been taken to the hospital also died.
I sighed, having heard that Realgar Wine could repel snakes. It was said that drinking a little bit regularly could help, so I planned to buy some. He advised against carrying it with me and suggested I leave it aside.
In the afternoon, he and Jun Chong went out again.

In a hazy state, I felt a chilling sensation in my limbs, as if something slippery was crawling over me, accompanied by faint rustling sounds in my ears.

Something coiled around my ankle, pulling me down, while another icy presence wrapped around my hand, tugging me in the opposite direction. My limbs were ensnared; the thing continued to writhe, sending shivers across my skin. I tried to move but still couldn't break free.
Then a voice called my name softly from nearby, "Gu Anxin, open your eyes. Gu Anxin, open your eyes."
"Who? Who is calling me?"
I moved my eyes slightly and saw a beam of light shining in from outside; the rustling sounds grew louder.
As my vision shifted from blurry to clear, I gasped in shock—the ceiling of the room was marked by an enormous Red Skull.
I tried to move, but when I noticed the snakes beside me, a breath caught in my throat, rendering me completely silent.
I found myself lying amidst a pile of snakes.
