Su Wan'er's cart moved slowly between the shelves of the supermarket as she and Li Feng selected ingredients for dinner. She seemed relaxed, occasionally joking with Li Feng. However, this tranquility was soon shattered by a series of ringing phones.
“Wan'er, your phone,” Li Feng pointed to her vibrating phone in her bag.
Su Wan'er glanced at the caller ID, her expression shifting slightly. “It's nothing, probably a wrong number.” She quickly hung up.
But the phone rang again almost immediately. Su Wan'er frowned, hanging up once more. When it rang for the third time, Li Feng's patience had worn thin. “Why don’t you answer it? Are you hiding something from me?”
“It's nothing, just an annoying ex-boyfriend,” Su Wan'er tried to mask her tension with a light tone.
“Ex-boyfriend?” Li Feng's voice rose a notch. “Why is he calling you repeatedly?”
“I don’t know; he might be sick,” Su Wan'er replied, a hint of impatience creeping into her tone.
The phone rang again, and Li Feng snatched it away, pressing the answer button. On the other end was Pang Fei's voice. “Wan'er, why didn’t you answer? I just wanted to tell you that I’m back, and we can start over.”
Li Feng's face turned ashen with rage. He shouted, “Who are you? What’s your relationship with Su Wan'er?”
Pang Fei laughed derisively on the other end. “I’m the father of her child. I’m back, and I’m taking responsibility.”
Li Feng's fury erupted like a volcano as he turned to Su Wan'er, his eyes filled with anger and betrayal. “Tell me, is what this man said true? Whose child is it?”
Su Wan'er's face went pale as her voice trembled. “Feng, let me explain; it’s a misunderstanding.”
“A misunderstanding?” Li Feng's laughter dripped with sarcasm. “How can I believe you? You've been lying to me!”
Su Wan'er reached out to grab his hand, but Li Feng shook her off. “I won’t trust you again; you’re a liar!”
This was all Tan Jing's plan. She had found Pang Fei and paid him to reveal the truth at a critical moment. She knew this revelation would push Li Feng's anger to its peak and completely expose Su Wan'er's lies.
Su Wan'er and Li Feng decided to go to another city to clear their minds and try to salvage their relationship.
Tan Jing stood by the window, holding a glass of red wine as she gazed at the distant highway. She knew that a tragedy was about to unfold there.
On the highway, Li Feng received a call from Tan Jing.
“Li Feng, let’s get a divorce,” Tan Jing’s voice was calm and resolute.
Li Feng tried to salvage the situation. “Tan Jing, we can talk about this.”
But Tan Jing had made up her mind. “There’s nothing to talk about; I’ve already decided.”
After hanging up, Li Feng felt even more agitated.
Seeing his expression, Su Wan'er became emotional as well. “Are you still thinking about her? Don’t I and our child deserve your commitment?”
Li Feng responded angrily, "How can you even talk about the child? I don't even know if that child is mine!"
Su Wan'er screamed back, "You bastard! I've sacrificed so much for you, and you still doubt me!"
The two argued in the car, their emotions escalating. Su Wan'er hurled insults at Li Feng, while he lost his composure in his fury. During a heated exchange, Li Feng accidentally slammed into the steering wheel, causing the car to veer out of control and crash into the highway barrier.
With a deafening crash, the world plunged into darkness.
When the rescue team arrived at the scene, they found that Su Wan'er and her unborn child showed no signs of life, while Li Feng had become a vegetable.
Tan Jing was left with a mix of emotions; she had only wanted to separate them.
