Agamemnon locked his gaze firmly on Der Yi, and a growing sense of doubt and wariness took root in his heart. From Der Yi's eyes and movements, he could sense a deep fear towards himself, a feeling that went far beyond the usual distance or discrimination that ordinary people felt towards Half Blood. His intuition told him that there might be some unknown secret hidden within Der Yi.
Der Yi noticed Agamemnon's gaze and appeared somewhat uneasy. He tried to use humor to cover up his embarrassment, forcing a smile and saying, "Hey, buddy, stop staring at me like that. It's embarrassing enough that my pants are torn, but with you looking at me like that, I'm getting shy." His voice carried a hint of nervousness, as if he were trying hard to conceal his inner unease.
William couldn't help but burst into laughter, mockingly saying to Der Yi, "You're really embarrassing, you fatso Der Yi! I'm going to tell everyone at the police station!" His laughter carried warmth and playfulness, seemingly completely unaware of Agamemnon's unusual reaction.
Der Yi tried to respond with humor, but his smile seemed forced, increasingly uncomfortable under Agamemnon's gaze. He quickly made an excuse to leave, patting William on the shoulder and saying, "I need to go change my pants, you guys chat."
William continued to laugh, unaware of the panic in Der Yi's eyes as she left. He turned to Agamemnon and said with a smile, "That guy is really a master of comedy, isn't he?" But Agamemnon's smile held a hint of contemplation, as he nodded slightly and responded to William with a shallow smile, "Indeed, quite interesting."
However, deep down, Agamemnon's doubts did not dissipate. He pondered the possible hidden meanings behind Der Yi's actions and how the subtle aura of magic was related to her. Behind all of this, it seemed that a more complex mystery was waiting for him to unravel.
Sheriff William wiped away the tears of laughter and his expression turned serious. He raised his beer glass and said affectionately, "To The Tesnan Couple, and Kobold." Agamemnon silently echoed, and the two clinked their glasses together, making a crisp sound. Then they both drank their beer in large gulps, as if expressing their nostalgia for the departed and their respect for life in this way.
At this moment, the door of the tavern was pushed open, and a sound of footsteps and welcoming cheers followed as the mayor walked in. Agamemnon and William turned to look at the new mayor. They noticed that as soon as the mayor entered, he was warmly welcomed by the crowd. Agamemnon curiously asked William, "Has the mayor always been this popular?"
William smiled and answered Agamemnon's question. He said while drinking beer, "That guy, he's been enthusiastic since he was young, always wanting to be involved in everything. As he grew up, he naturally became the mayor. He has a cheerful personality, rich knowledge, and is almost a role model for the entire town. Who doesn't like him?"
As Agamemnon listened to William's description of the mayor, a hint of contemplation appeared in his eyes. He observed the mayor warmly greeting people in the tavern and felt a sense of respect for this beloved mayor. Despite the occasion being to mourn the deceased, the mayor was still able to bring comfort and hope to people in such an environment.
William and Agamemnon continued to sit there, savoring their beers and enjoying the warm yet somewhat melancholic atmosphere of the evening. The crowd around them gradually relaxed in the atmosphere of mourning, and the music and laughter inside the tavern intertwined to create a scene of the townspeople's shared joys and sorrows.
The evening officially began with the arrival of the mayor. Der Yi, the passionate and slightly comical middle-aged bald man, deftly handed a beer to the mayor. The mayor nodded in thanks to Der Yi, then began to walk around the tavern, warmly greeting numerous townspeople. He would occasionally talk about Kobold's situation, and at other times explain the benefits and social support that adopting him would bring, appearing both professional and caring.
The mayor shuttled around the tavern, chatting warmly with everyone. Each of his smiles and nods made people feel comfortable and warm. When he mentioned Kobold, his tone revealed deep concern, and whenever the topic of adoption came up, a glimmer of hope flashed in his eyes.
William then turned to Agamemnon and started a casual conversation. He curiously asked, "Hey, Agamemnon, how long have you been wandering on the continent? You always seem to be on the move." His tone carried a hint of humor and relaxation.
Agamemnon smiled and replied, "It's been eleven years already. Someone like me, a Half Blood, may not be suited for settling down. Our appearance often heralds danger and disaster, it's our destiny." His words revealed a profound self-awareness and acceptance of fate.
William listened to Agamemnon's words, a hint of sympathy flashing in his eyes.
Just as they were talking, the atmosphere in the tavern suddenly became more lively. The mayor stood in the center of the tavern, raised his voice, and announced the formal beginning of the evening, once again mentioning the significance of the event and the mourning for the the Tesnan family. His words conveyed respect for the deceased and concern for the living.
People in the tavern began to engage in lively conversations, some proposing a toast to The Tesnan Couple, while others discussed the future of Bolt. In this atmosphere, Agamemnon felt a warmth and acceptance different from the usual.
