Until the red light in the operating room lit up, Xu Yiman suddenly asked, "This person, I feel like I know him well."
Jiang He looked at the closed surgery door and said, "Li Liangcai."
"Who is Li Liangcai?" Yuan Jun asked.
Old Shao, sitting on a bench outside the operating room, replied, "One of the six people involved in bullying Xiao Xuanmiao."
"Why is he here?" Yuan Jun couldn't understand. "It feels like everyone is coming to the hospital for fun. Wang Liguo kidnapped Xiao Xuanmiao here, and then Li Liangcai inexplicably fell from upstairs? Can someone explain to me if this world has gone crazy?"
Jiang He, however, was looking down the empty corridor and said, "Someone will come soon to give you the answer."

Jiang He answered, "Wang Chao. I saw clearly that Li Liangcai fell out of Wang Chao's ward."
"So, the kid who just moved in with Wang Chao is Li Liangcai. If we have time to check on Wang Chao, we'll know this and can keep an eye on him," Xu Yiman said with some frustration.
As a former surgeon, although she could no longer operate on critically ill patients due to an incident a few years ago, her years of experience told Xu Yiman that when Li Liangcai fell, his head hit the ground first, causing his brain arteries to burst. "What exactly happened? How could Li Liangcai suddenly fall from the building?" Old Shao sat in a chair, tilting his head as he looked at Wang Chao. "Is there really not one person among these six who can end well?"
Wang Chao ran his fingers through his hair in frustration, glancing at Old Shao as he spoke. "I should have noticed earlier. When he returned to the ward, he definitely seemed different from usual, but I didn't pay much attention. If I had been more observant, he wouldn't have committed suicide."
"Suicide?" Old Shao quickly interjected. "You need to tell us everything in detail, including how you know Li Liangcai."
Wang Chao nodded and glanced at the operating room before leaning back on the bench. "This kid, Li Liangcai, was brought to the hospital the night before last. I discussed this with Jiang He. The reason he was hospitalized was because of his father. His father beat him severely, which led to his head injury. As for why his father would do such a thing, Li Liangcai never told me."
"At that time, I had been staying in this ward for a while. When he moved in, I met his father once. Just like I mentioned to Jiang He, his father seemed honest and straightforward; I couldn't understand why he would be so violent. That night, Li Liangcai's parents stayed with him for the entire night, but after that, they were rarely seen."
"Usually during meal times, he would wrap his head in bandages and go buy food by himself." Wang Chao lowered his head, avoiding everyone's gaze as he recalled. "He always bought some steamed buns that cost one or two yuan each and sometimes had a bit of pickled vegetables with them. I could tell his family was quite poor, so I often asked him to run errands for me to buy food and let him get a better meal as a reward for helping out."

Wang Chao nodded. "I don't know what he went to do; all I know is that after hearing Xiao Xuanmiao was fine, he left the ward. I have no idea where he went, but when he came back about ten minutes later, he sat on the bed for a long time looking sad. I didn’t ask him anything."
"I thought maybe he had another argument with his parents because every time his father came by before, they would end up fighting. Then he walked over to the window and opened it."
At this point, Wang Chao slammed his fist down on the chair, the impact heavy enough to redden his hand. "I didn't know what I was thinking at the time; I just never considered that possibility. He was standing there at first, and then suddenly turned around and thanked me."
"When he suddenly thanked me, I knew something was wrong. But right after he said that, he jumped out of the window. I didn't even have time to grab him. Although he was usually quiet, I never suspected he wanted to commit suicide. He must have come into contact with someone who pushed him to take that step."
"Let's go check the surveillance footage," Old Shao said as he stood up.
The others nodded in agreement.
Wang Chao tilted his head to look at Old Shao and said softly, "I want to wait here. When my mother was alive, every time she went into surgery, she felt that the success rate was much higher if someone was waiting outside. After Li Liangcai's surgery, if no one is waiting outside the operating room, he would feel sad."
It was clear to everyone that Wang Chao felt a deep sense of guilt. In truth, this situation wasn't really his fault; you can never stop someone who is determined to end their life. But that's just how Wang Chao was—he always held himself to a higher standard and would look for reasons within himself whenever something went wrong.
Wang Chao had never felt lost in his life, nor had he ever thought that what he did was futile. If he could save a good person, he would; if he could catch a bad person, he would do that too. This was Wang Chao's bottom line, his principle, and the reason why he never felt confused.
However, not everyone could sense Wang Chao's sorrow. At that moment, Jiang He had already located the surveillance room and had asked the staff to retrieve the footage from before Li Liangcai's suicide. According to the video, Li Liangcai had been in his hospital room until twenty minutes ago when he left.
The footage showed Li Liangcai exiting his room and heading straight for the elevator. After leaving the elevator on the first floor, he walked down the corridor when another figure appeared on screen—Xiao Xuanmiao, who had just come out of the restroom.
From the timeline, it seemed that Xiao Xuanmiao had been rescued for some time; she must have just escaped from an interview with reporters and went to wash her face.
Li Liangcai and Xiao Xuanmiao encountered each other in the corridor on the first floor.
At that moment, there was no one else in the corridor—just this pair of young people. Just a month ago, Li Liangcai had been bullying Xiao Xuanmiao, but everything had changed in just a month's time.
Li Liangcai and Xiao Xuanmiao both came to a halt, standing face to face.

After separating from Xiao Xuanmiao, Li Liangcai exited the hospital. Sitting on a bench in front of the hospital was Li Liangcai's father. He said nothing but pulled out a brown paper bag from his pocket and handed it to Li Liangcai. Li Liangcai also said nothing; he carelessly stuffed the paper bag into his own pocket and returned to the hospital.
On his way back, Li Liangcai did not stop and went straight to his ward.
Upon returning, Wang Chao greeted Li Liangcai from the video feed, but Li Liangcai ignored him. He sat quietly on his hospital bed for a while before moving to the window. It seemed he was gazing at the view from the seventh floor, but at that moment, he had his back to the camera, and no one could see his expression.
When he turned back around, his face was already streaked with tears. He looked at Wang Chao, who lay on the bed, and mouthed a word that appeared to be "thank you."
Then, before Wang Chao could react, Li Liangcai climbed up to the window and fell out. It was because of this that his head hit the ground first. This also contributed to the likelihood of him surviving being very low.
Why did Li Liangcai choose to commit suicide at this moment? Was it related to Xiao Xuanmiao or Li Liangcai's father?
