Wang Da looked at Old Shao, and after a moment, he began to recount the story.
It all started four years ago when Wang Da noticed something was off about Li Erdan. He seemed to have lost interest in the living and instead became obsessed with the dead. At that time, Wang Da and Li Erdan were not particularly close, but he knew that Li Erdan had been visiting the funeral home, and he was curious to find out what Li Erdan was doing there.
Wang Da cautiously made his way to the funeral home and arrived at the Cold Storage, where he finally saw Li Erdan engaging intimately with a corpse inside one of the drawers.
At that moment, Wang Da felt a mix of shock and fear. After searching online for a long time, he discovered that this kind of obsession was called Necrophilia. Simultaneously, Wang Da realized that Li Erdan was also taking valuables from the bodies. Most of those corpses were unclaimed, and no one would notice if jewelry or watches were taken from them.
Wang Da initially thought about splitting the loot with Li Erdan, but he soon found out that Li Erdan always hid these items in the fields. An idea formed in Wang Da's mind: as long as he wanted something, he could stealthily take it without Li Erdan ever knowing.
Moreover, if a family member of a deceased person came looking for their loved one, they would discover that the jewelry was missing. At that point, it would be Li Erdan's problem, with no connection to Wang Da whatsoever.
With this plan in mind, Wang Da allowed Li Erdan to continue his activities while turning a blind eye.
However, when Wang Da discovered a large hole in the corpse's abdomen, he realized that this situation would eventually come to light. If Zhang De or Old Wei saw it first, there would be no escape for Li Erdan. Fearing that Li Erdan might dig up the jewelry before him, Wang Da acted preemptively and took the jewelry two weeks ago.
"Where is that jewelry now?" Old Shao asked Wang Da.
Jiang He chimed in, "If I’m guessing correctly, it’s in the trash can in the bathroom."
