"Alright, since we've made everything clear, Li Tong, let me tell you, you were the one who cheated first. There's no way I'm giving you a dime in this divorce!"
I continued to stoke the fire, knowing they would do something even more outrageous. I watched Li Tong's reaction. She wore a half-smile and said, "What makes you think we cheated? My brother was just joking with you earlier, right, Brother?"
She glanced at Song Xiang, who had a mischievous grin on his face. I had anticipated her response.
"Since you're joking around, I'll joke too—I'm not getting divorced!"
"You can forget about getting a single penny from me!"
I lifted my foot to leave when Li Tong rushed over and grabbed my arm.
"Lin Weixuan, don't go too far!"
Seeing her flustered expression filled me with joy. She tried to hold onto me, but I shook her off forcefully.
At that moment, I heard the roar of an engine nearby. Before I could turn around, it was too late.
The white ceiling, the swaying IV drip, the smell of disinfectant. I found myself lying on a hospital bed. My left foot was wrapped in thick bandages; even the slightest movement sent sharp pains shooting through it.
I pressed my palm against my forehead, struggling to remember what had happened.
"Don't move around; you need to rest now."
A nurse in a pink uniform approached with a treatment cart, flicking the syringe to expel some of the medication.
"Turn to your side and expose your backside."
"What injection is this?" My face flushed; it was the first time in my life I was getting an injection in my rear end.
It was just another unfamiliar nurse, and she looked like an intern. If she injected me in the wrong spot, I would be in serious trouble.
Seeing that I was hesitating, she stepped forward and started to pull down my pants.
"Hey, what are you doing?" I tightened my belt to prevent her from yanking them down.
She chuckled lightly, "You're all grown up, yet you're afraid of a shot?"
I felt my dignity being insulted. It wasn't that I was afraid of pain; I was just pure-hearted, okay? For all these years, I had been devoted to only one woman, Li Tong. No other woman had ever seen my backside.
Thinking of Li Tong made my heart ache with sadness.
Just then, the door to the ward opened, and another nurse wearing a mask walked in. The name tag on her chest told me she was the Head Nurse.
She glanced at the intern and took the syringe from her. Seeing my panicked expression, a smile crept into the corners of her eyes.
"I want to file a complaint against you nurses for not respecting patients!"
Noticing my anger, the intern pushed the cart forward a bit.
"Head Nurse, don't mind this guy; let me handle it! I don't believe one little shot will hurt him!"
I felt my face flush all the way to my ears.
Fortunately, the Head Nurse gestured for her to step outside.
"Alright, alright, you can complain, but let me finish this injection first."
The Head Nurse's voice was soft and soothing, almost like she was comforting a child. For some reason, that voice sounded somewhat familiar—like a gentle spring breeze washing over me.
But I really can't remember where I heard that before.
"I didn't expect our Senior Lin to have such a cute side."
"Senior Lin, is that you?"
When she caught my searching gaze, she took off her mask, smiled lightly, and put it back on.
It was Ye Yichen.
"Senior Lin, do you remember me?"
"I thought it looked like you when I was doing rounds yesterday, and today I see it really is you."
I remembered; she was a junior from my university days. Back then, we were both part of the school's finance club.
She often asked me about financial issues, and over time, we became familiar with each other.
"Senior, since you taught me so much, let me help you with the water."
"Senior, your meal is ready. Don't think too much of it; it's just to thank you for helping me pass the exam."
I vaguely recalled her pure and sweet smile from back then.
