Does wearing a condom mean it’s not considered rape?
You can never imagine the mystery surrounding the murder of this 12-year-old girl.
Just because her father's watch was broken and he missed the time to pick her up from school, the girl was dragged to a construction site on her way home and violated.
Afterward, the girl desperately pleaded for her life, but the perpetrator picked up a brick nearby and beat her until she was on the verge of death.
In her final moments, the girl could not comprehend what she had done wrong to deserve such treatment.
When her father finally found her, she used her last bit of strength to utter her final words: "Dad, save me!"
The brutality of the case and the malice of the killer left the officers who handled it in tears whenever they recalled it.

On December 25, 2006, at 11:40 AM, Xiaoli was about to finish school. However, when she exited the school gate, there was no sign of her father coming to pick her up.
Xiaoli then walked home with her classmates, but what should have been a 15-minute walk turned into an hour and a half. By 12:30 PM, Xiaoli still hadn’t arrived home, which made her mother, Li Ping, very anxious.
She quickly contacted Xiaoli's classmates, who said they had parted ways at the bridge while walking home together.
Li Ping became increasingly worried. She hurriedly called her husband, Xiao Peng, and her brother to search for their daughter. They searched for a long time along the way but couldn’t find Xiaoli.
Then Xiaoli's father, Xiao Peng, noticed a nearby construction site and decided to check there. At that moment, a man ran out of the site in a panic, with a security guard chasing him and shouting, "Catch the murderer!"
Upon hearing this, Xiao Peng and his wife felt an ominous premonition and rushed toward where the security guard had come from.
When they reached a corner, they suddenly saw their daughter lying on the ground covered in blood, with several wounds on her head. Xiaoli's arms were bound with a red scarf, and her pants had been pulled down to her knees.
At that moment, Xiao Li was on the brink of death. Seeing her father, she used her last breath to utter, "Dad, save me," before losing consciousness.
Upon witnessing this, Xiao Li's father quickly dialed emergency services while her mother attempted basic first aid. However, when Xiao Li was transported to the hospital, the severe head injury proved fatal despite rescue efforts.
Upon hearing the news, Xiao Li's parents were devastated, especially her father, Xiao Peng. It was his fault that they were in this situation; his watch had been two hours slow, causing him to miss picking up his daughter on time.
But it wasn't just Xiao Li's parents who felt heartbroken and furious; the investigating officers were also enraged. They could hardly fathom that someone would commit such a heinous act against a child who had just turned 12.
"How could anyone treat a child so cruelly? This is infuriating," one officer exclaimed.
Through their investigation, the police discovered that Xiao Li had been attacked in an unfinished building. Outside the bathroom door of the structure, they found a significant amount of irregular bloodstains, along with a bloody brick and a fallen hairpin. Nearby lay a piece of wood and a PVC pipe.
Further examination revealed that Xiao Li's primary cause of death was severe cranial injuries inflicted by repeated blows from the brick.
While collecting evidence at the scene, Xiao Li's parents handed over the red scarf that had been tied around her wrist. However, when these items were sent to the technical department for analysis, no useful evidence was found.
From the site security guard, Master Cai, the police learned that he had been patrolling as usual that day when he heard a young girl crying for help upon entering the gate.
Seeing Master Cai arrive, the assailant quickly pulled up his pants and fled. During the chase, they encountered Xiao Li's parents and uncle.
At that time, Xiao Peng and his wife rushed onto the construction site to assess the situation while Xiao Li's uncle joined Master Cai in pursuit of the attacker. Unfortunately, the assailant was too fast for them to catch.
To solve the case quickly, the police deployed numerous officers to trace the suspect's escape route.
Although there were five witnesses, none could clearly identify where the suspect had gone. Based on several testimonies, forensic technicians were able to sketch a rough likeness of the suspect.
He was approximately 35 years old, somewhat slender, wearing a jacket on top and military-green pants on the bottom.
But why would he want to harm Xiao Li?
At only 12 years old, she surely had no enemies. Furthermore, nothing of value had been taken from her, and there were no signs of any emotional disputes.
Thus, the police began investigating Xiao Li's parents' social connections.
The couple, Xiao Peng and his wife, were usually honest and straightforward, having no enemies or financial disputes with anyone.
Thus, the police ruled out motives of revenge and financial gain, concluding that the perpetrator's motive was likely simply to commit rape. However, the reason for killing Xiaoli remained unknown.
Although no semen from the suspect was found during subsequent investigations, it could not be ruled out that he had engaged in inappropriate behavior with Xiaoli. Based on Xiaoli's school dismissal time and the time witnesses spotted the suspect, the police deduced that the suspect had spent at least 40 minutes with her.
If the suspect's only intention was to kill the victim, he wouldn't have lingered for 40 minutes; there must have been some interaction and process involved.
"From this point, we feel it is very likely that this was a case of sexual assault."
However, due to the relatively underdeveloped forensic technology in 2006, progress in solving the case was extremely slow, turning this unsolved case into a knot in the hearts of the special investigation team. They felt deeply sorry for the victim's family and could not bear to see a child die in vain.
"This case must be solved because we witnessed the immense grief of the victim's family."
Through their inquiries, they learned that Xiaoli was the first child in her family. In hopes of providing their daughter with a good future, Xiao Peng and his wife had devoted themselves to her upbringing. Xiaoli excelled in sports and had even been selected as a sports special talent by her school.
What was once a happy family now faced such a tragedy. Every time they thought of this, the officers involved in the case felt an overwhelming struggle within themselves.

In the years that followed, despite officers traveling across various provinces in search of clues, none were found until 2018 when Bao was transferred to the Criminal Investigation Team of the Hui District Public Security Bureau.
With years of experience handling major cases, he sensed a key clue while reviewing Xiaoli's case files, particularly focusing on the red scarf tied around Xiaoli's hands. It was highly likely that some cells from the suspect had been shed during the binding process.
Starting from August 2019, this red scarf was sent monthly to the Ministry of Public Security's Evidence Identification Center for testing. Finally, in July 2023, after four years of testing, police discovered male DNA information on the scarf that did not belong to the victim.
Subsequently, police screened over 200 leads and interviewed more than 10,000 citizens across more than ten provinces before identifying a suspect named Liu.
Further investigation revealed that Liu was born in 1972 and hailed from Hohhot in Inner Mongolia. He remained unmarried to this day.
What puzzled the police was that this rough man enjoyed wearing makeup and had an eccentric personality; he was psychologically twisted and had a strong penchant for lewdness.
The suspect, Liu, had a particularly reclusive personality and a rather twisted character. He had purchased a large quantity of cosmetics, women's products, and some intimate items.
He often made flirtatious remarks and engaged in inappropriate teasing towards some female colleagues and waitresses from his previous job.
Based on these characteristics, the police believed that Liu fit the profile and mindset of a suspect very well.
On October 5, 2023, the police decided to apprehend him. After conducting surveillance, they successfully captured Liu.
Once brought to the police station, Liu quickly confessed to his crimes and motives through methods such as big data recovery techniques.
It turned out that on the day of the incident, he had initially intended to find a hardware repair engineer. However, lacking money, he wandered around until he spotted Xiaoli, who was alone and surrounded by no one. Liu then developed malicious intentions. He subsequently took Xiaoli hostage and brought her to an unfinished construction site.
As Liu attempted to assault Xiaoli, she struggled fiercely. He used her red scarf to bind her hands, but Xiaoli did not give up resisting; she cried out for help.
Fearing exposure, Liu picked up a nearby brick and struck Xiaoli's head with it. At that moment, Master Cai, a security guard at the construction site, heard the commotion. If it hadn't been for Master Cai ’s intervention, Liu might have inflicted further harm on Xiaoli.
After successfully escaping, Liu learned the next day about Xiaoli's death and fled to work in another city.
After several years on the run, he returned to Hohhot. To avoid capture by the police, he practiced makeup skills diligently and never participated in social activities or made friends.
Although he managed to evade detection for many years through his makeup skills, he was ultimately apprehended by the police. Now, he awaited the legal consequences of his actions—death penalty.
