After dinner, Lin Chen returned to his room, took his diary from the bookshelf, opened a new page, and began to record the events of the day.
The tip of his pen scratched against the paper as his elegant handwriting gradually filled the blank page. He wrote about the playful moments with Su Xiaonuan, describing her cheeks puffing up in anger and the smile that slipped out unintentionally... Between the lines, there was a clear concern for Su Xiaonuan.
Meanwhile, Su Xiaonuan also returned home and sat at her desk, pulling out her own diary to document her interactions with Lin Chen. She wrote about the moments he teased her, his feigned calm expression, and how her heart raced when he held her hand... Biting the end of her pen, she furrowed her brow, feeling confused by Lin Chen's elusive actions and lost in her own complicated emotions.
The next morning, sunlight streamed through the curtains into the room. Lin Chen woke up early, changed into his school uniform, and prepared to head out for school. At the school gate, he encountered Su Xiaonuan.
However, he merely nodded lightly and walked straight into the school, chatting and laughing with other girls passing by while intentionally ignoring Su Xiaonuan. Seeing Lin Chen laughing with other girls made Su Xiaonuan feel uncomfortable. She couldn't understand why he had suddenly become so distant; did yesterday's events upset him? The more she thought about it, the more aggrieved she felt, and her eyes began to redden.
At that moment, Shen Hao approached and asked with concern, "Xiaonuan, what's wrong? Did someone bully you?"
Su Xiaonuan shook her head, not wanting to worry Shen Hao. Noticing her low spirits, Shen Hao suggested, "How about we go study at the library together? A change of environment might lift your mood."
After a moment's hesitation, Su Xiaonuan agreed to Shen Hao's invitation. She thought that perhaps studying at the library could help her temporarily forget about Lin Chen and allow her to calm down and reflect on her feelings for him.
The two arrived at the library and found a quiet corner to sit down. Shen Hao took out his textbooks from his backpack and began studying earnestly. Meanwhile, Su Xiaonuan was somewhat distracted, occasionally glancing out the window as Lin Chen's figure kept surfacing in her mind.
Shen Hao noticed something unusual about Su Xiaonuan. He put down his textbook and asked softly, "Xiao Nuan, are you really okay? You seem to be lost in thought."
Su Xiaonuan snapped back to reality and forced a smile. "I'm fine, I'm just a bit tired."
Seeing her forced smile made Shen Hao's heart ache. He gathered his courage, gazing deeply into Su Xiaonuan's eyes, and said, "Xiao Nuan, I like you! From the moment I first saw you, I was deeply attracted to you. I know Lin Chen likes you too, but I don't want to give up. I want to make you happy!"
Su Xiaonuan was taken aback; she hadn't expected Shen Hao to confess his feelings so suddenly. She had always regarded him as a good friend and never considered that he might like her. Her mind was in turmoil, unsure of how to respond to Shen Hao's feelings. After hesitating for a long time, she ultimately did not give a clear answer.
After school, Lin Chen was waiting at the school gate for Su Xiaonuan as usual. When he saw her walking out of the library with Shen Hao, chatting and laughing while holding the same book, his expression darkened instantly.
He quickly approached them and grabbed Su Xiaonuan's wrist, his tone icy as he questioned, "Where have you been?"
Su Xiaonuan was startled by Lin Chen's sudden action. She shook off his hand forcefully and replied angrily, "What business is it of yours where I go?"
Lin Chen furrowed his brows, his eyes filled with fury. "Where did you go with Shen Hao?" His tone was firm, completely disregarding Su Xiaonuan's resistance.
Su Xiaonuan bit her lip defiantly and turned her head away. "The library."
Seeing her attitude only fueled Lin Chen's anger further.
