Qin Yuwei wanted to explain further, but was sharply interrupted by Director Li. "Enough! I don't want to hear any of your explanations!" He pointed to the office door, his tone resolute. "Leave my crew now, immediately!"
Qin Yuwei's face drained of color, her lips trembled, but she couldn't utter a word. Tears welled in her eyes as she bit her lip, trying to control her emotions.
"Director Li, I beg you, give me one more chance. I promise I will..." Qin Yuwei choked on her words, her voice barely a whisper.
She reached out to grab Director Li's sleeve, but he sidestepped away from her grasp.
"A chance? You have no chances left!" Director Li's tone brooked no argument as he turned his back on her, refusing to look at her again. "Your actions have severely disrupted the normal filming process. I cannot tolerate this happening again!"
Despair washed over Qin Yuwei as she closed her eyes, tears finally spilling over. She knew that this time, it was truly over for her.
With a heavy heart, she turned and stumbled out of the office. The sound of her high heels clicking against the floor echoed in the empty corridor, like the tolling of a bell marking the end of her acting career.
Her manager had been anxiously waiting outside the door. Seeing Qin Yuwei emerge in tears, he rushed over. "Yuwei, what happened? What did Director Li say?"
He supported Qin Yuwei's swaying body, his voice filled with concern.
Qin Yuwei leaned weakly against her manager's shoulder, sobbing uncontrollably. "He... he told me to leave the crew..."
Her manager sighed and gently patted her back. "Don't cry; I'll find a way. There has to be a way..."
He glanced up at the closed office door, a complex expression flashing in his eyes.
At the end of the corridor, several staff members were whispering among themselves, occasionally glancing in their direction.
In a hotel room, Wang Kai hung up the phone with a furrowed brow and walked over to Gu Beichen, who was reading a script. "Beichen, Director Li has expelled Qin Yuwei from the crew."
Gu Beichen looked up, surprise flickering in his eyes. "What happened?"
Wang Kai recounted the events to Gu Beichen. After listening for a moment, Gu Beichen fell silent. "This matter will likely affect Xingyao." He picked up his phone and dialed Lin Xingyao's number.
In the break room on set, Lin Xingyao was intently studying her script when her phone suddenly rang.
She glanced at the caller ID and saw it was Gu Beichen. She answered, "Hello, Beichen."
"Xingyao, are you... okay?" Gu Beichen's voice was low, tinged with a hint of unnoticeable concern. Lin Xingyao paused slightly, "I'm fine, what's wrong?"
"Have you heard about Qin Yuwei?" Gu Beichen hesitated for a moment but decided to inform Lin Xingyao.
Lin Xingyao tightened her grip on the script. "I've heard. It's all over the crew."
Her tone was calm, betraying no emotional fluctuations.
Outside the window, crew members were busy preparing for the next scene, the sounds of chatter filling the air.
"Xingyao, don't worry. This won't affect you," Gu Beichen said gently yet firmly. "Just focus on your acting; I'll handle everything else."
A faint smile appeared on Lin Xingyao's lips. "I know, thank you, Beichen."
She set down her script and walked to the window, observing the bustling scene outside. "I won't let these rumors affect me; I will continue to work hard and prove myself with my talent!"
Sunlight streamed through the window, casting a golden glow over her.
Hearing Lin Xingyao's words brought Gu Beichen a sense of relief. "I believe in you, Xingyao." He hung up the phone, his gaze filled with warmth.
In the hotel room, as the sun set, it bathed the entire space in a warm orange hue.
Lin Xingyao put down her phone and took a deep breath, her eyes filled with determination.
She picked up her script again and continued to study it intently, as if everything around her was irrelevant.
The break room door was gently pushed open as her assistant walked in. "Sister Xingyao, it's time to prepare for the next scene."
Lin Xingyao nodded and handed the script to her assistant before rising to head towards the set.
"Got it." Lin Xingyao accepted the warm water from her assistant, took a sip, and returned the empty bottle.
"Thank you."
With resolute steps, she made her way to the set. The lights were dazzling, illuminating the constructed ancient street scene where crew members were diligently performing their tasks.
Director Li stood by the camera discussing angles with the cinematographer. Upon seeing Lin Xingyao approach, he waved her over. "Xingyao, are you ready? The next scene is your highlight." His voice was serious and earnest.
Lin Xingyao walked up to Director Li and nodded slightly. "I'm ready, Director Li."
She straightened her back, and confidence shone in her eyes.
Director Li nodded and patted her shoulder. "I believe in you. Just do your best!"
