Chapter 1 Murder
" Auntie Li, please give me a bunch of celery, and also some potatoes!"
In the noisy market, a beautiful woman in a black lace nightgown, with long white legs exposed, stood in front of a stall, smiling as she handed a bunch of celery to the middle-aged woman selling vegetables in front of her.
The woman looks to be around twenty-seven or twenty-eight years old, with a tall figure and a lightly made-up face. Her exquisite features are enhanced by a professional smile that always adorns her face wherever she goes. Despite the smile, a hint of imperceptible sadness can be seen in her eyes.
"Auntie Liu" took the celery and weighed a few potatoes before putting them in a plastic bag and handing them to the woman.
"Hehe, Xiao Fang, why are you so late today?"
"Tonight is my day off, so I took the opportunity to sleep a little longer today." The woman took the bag and pulled out some cash from her purse, handing it to Auntie Liu with a smile. Auntie Liu accepted the money, nodded, and showed a kind smile as she expressed concern, saying, "Enjoy your day off and take a good rest. It's not easy for you to take care of the child alone. Go back soon and don't keep the child waiting."
The woman responded and quickly left the market. After she left, several women behind her began to discuss animatedly.
"Hey, did you see that woman just now? Let me tell you! That woman is called Wang Huifang. We live in the same neighborhood. I heard she works in that kind of place."
"What kind of place?"
"Just that kind of thing! You know, doing that with men. I heard that she's almost thirty and still not married, and she even has a child. I don't even know whose wild seed it is."
"Is it true?"
"When have I ever lied to you? Look at how revealing she dresses, you can tell she's not a good person."
Auntie Liu heard them gossiping with foul language about Wang Huifang, and as they spoke more and more offensively, she couldn't help but shout at them, "Chewing on other people's private matters every day, aren't you afraid of biting your tongue off in your sleep at night?"
Several women, upon hearing Auntie Liu's shout, immediately stopped their gossip and left after giving her a glance.
Wang Huifang left the market, bought some cold medicine at the pharmacy, bought some snacks for her son at the supermarket, and then hurried home.
When she walked on the path, she always felt like someone was following her. But every time she turned around, she only saw empty streets and no one in sight. This made her feel extremely uneasy.
"Could it be that I'm having hallucinations because of a cold? Maybe! I should hurry back! Lele is waiting for me at home!"
Wang Huifang comforted herself in her heart, and the uneasy feeling slowly subsided as she thought about her son.
A few minutes later, Wang Huifang finally arrived home safely. She took out her keys, opened the door, and saw her son playing by himself on the floor. Wang Huifang closed the door and walked over to her son with a smile.
"Lele, what are you playing with? Look, Mom brought your favorite jelly for you to eat."
"Eat, eat, I'm hungry, Mom eat."
Lele happily clapped his little hands and responded in a childish voice, while Wang Huifang gently patted his head. "Okay, you can only have one, okay! Come, let mommy take you back to your room. After you finish eating, it's time to go to sleep, okay!" After coaxing Lele to sleep, Wang Huifang quietly closed the door and returned to her own room. She checked the time and saw that it was already 10:30 at night.
Wang Huifang sighed, got up to pour a glass of hot water, took cold medicine, and then crawled into bed. Due to the medicine's effects, she quickly fell asleep. As time passed, Wang Huifang didn't know how long she had been asleep when she suddenly felt something cool on her face, as if something was patting her. Wang Huifang abruptly woke up, only to see a dark figure staring at her intently. "You, you are... uh uh uh..."
Wang Huifang wanted to call for help, but her mouth and nose were tightly covered by a dark figure, and she could only make a whimpering sound. Suddenly, the dark figure took out something bright and cut directly at their own throat. Wang Huifang looked on in despair at the dark figure in front of her. "Do you regret it now?"
Wang Huifang Before her consciousness dissipated, the last sentence she heard seemed to trigger an unbelievable realization, causing her eyes to widen in disbelief. After a few tremors, her body no longer responded.
Hongyuan residential area In the Hongyuan residential area, a man stumbled along a small path, holding a bottle of alcohol. His hair was disheveled, his face covered in stubble, and his eyes unfocused. He wore a white T-shirt on top, floral shorts on the bottom, and flip-flops on his feet, presenting a rather disheveled appearance.
This person is called Gu Jie he is 26 years old, and was once an outstanding student at the police academy and a legendary figure there, known as the little detective. Originally, he had a promising future, but he gave up the opportunity to join the police force because of his foster father's disappearance. He has been hiding in Yang City, investigating the reasons for his father's disappearance. Unfortunately, after two years, he has not found any useful clues, which has left him very disappointed. As he walked to the elevator in Unit 1 of Building 12, he pressed the button for the eighth floor. When he arrived at the eighth floor, he was ready to return to his room and get a good night's sleep.
When passing by room 804, I suddenly heard a crisp sound. Gu Jie looked puzzled at room 804, then walked up and leaned on the door to listen to what was happening inside the room. Unfortunately, after listening for a few minutes, no sound was heard. Gu Jie scratched his head, thinking he might have misheard, and continued walking forward. July 22nd, afternoon.
The 110 emergency center received a distress call, in which a man's frantic voice could be heard speaking incoherently.
"Dead, someone's dead! Murder! Someone's been killed!"
The man was trembling and unable to speak coherently, and the dispatcher calmly reassured him.
"Sir, please don't worry, take your time to speak. Where are you? Who has been killed?" The gentle voice of the dispatcher seemed to have an effect, and the man's emotions gradually calmed down. The man claimed to be named Jiang Feng, the landlord of the Hongyuan residential area, and said that his tenant had been murdered in the rented house.
After understanding the situation, the 110 emergency center immediately transferred the call to the Fengcheng District Zhangfeng Township police station. Upon receiving the notification, several police officers were dispatched to the scene. Twenty minutes later, two police cars appeared at the Hongyuan residential area, and several officers quickly cordoned off the area.
After inspecting the scene, no suspicious footprints or fingerprints were found. There was only a broken table lamp on the ground, while everything else was intact with no missing items. The doors and windows were locked from the inside and could only be opened from the inside.
According to Jiang Feng, upon going to collect rent, a foul smell was detected emanating from the room. In a state of urgency, Jiang Feng broke down the door with a fire axe, only to discover the bodies of a mother and child who had been murdered, with the corpses highly decomposed.
Several police officers checked for a long time but still found nothing. However, they discovered a suspicious person in the surveillance footage and decided to make an arrest.
Early morning on July 23rd:
"Who is it? Did you take the wrong medicine? Why are you banging on the door so early in the morning?"
A rapid knocking on the door abruptly woke Gu Jie from his sleep. Rubbing his eyes groggily, he impatiently shouted as he got up to open the door, only to be immediately tackled back onto the bed by several police officers.
"Hey, hey, hey! What are you doing?"
"We suspect you are involved in a murder case. Come with us."
"What? A murder case? Are you kidding me? I've never killed anyone!"
Gu Jie He tried to struggle out, but was forcefully handcuffed and suppressed.
"Stop talking nonsense, take him away."
In the office of the director of the Zhangfeng Township Police Station, the burly and jovial Captain Zhu was flipping through the files with joy on his face. The file stated: "Due to the long-term good public security in the area under the jurisdiction of Captain Zhu, a collective third prize is awarded as an encouragement. Please continue to maintain social order." Just as Captain Zhu was feeling elated, an unpleasant voice interrupted.
"Chief, Chief, something's not right."
Captain Zhu looked up and saw a young police officer rushing into the office in a fluster.
Captain Zhu frowned at the flustered young officer and scolded, "What's with all this panic? Don't you know you're a police officer? Have you forgotten even the most basic qualities as a police officer?"
"No, Director, Director, there has been a murder in the Hongyuan residential area!"
"Just arrest the suspects directly, isn't that enough? We've dealt with all kinds of cases... What? A murder?"
Captain Zhu initially thought it was a minor theft case and was about to continue scolding the junior police officers. Suddenly, he realized it was a murder, and was so scared that he sat down on the ground, taking a few minutes to recover.
"What, when did this happen? How come I didn't know?" The young police officer looked at Captain Zhu with a comical expression, wanting to laugh but not daring to. His face turned red, and after taking a few deep breaths, he managed to suppress his laughter. "Chief, it was all organized by Lei Ge. Yesterday afternoon, we received a call from the emergency center, and this morning Lei Ge found the suspect and went to arrest him."
"Huang Lei This rascal, finally growing up, huh! He didn't report such a big matter to me. Is this what we should be doing? If we mess up the crime scene, we'll be in big trouble. Wait, did you say he found the suspect? Caught the killer? Is there evidence?"
"Yes, yes, yes, I'll get it for you right away."
