We stepped back from the crime scene, and Juan Juan went ahead to examine the body. Meanwhile, we began asking the neighbors for information. The soundproofing in this building was poor; a person weighing around a hundred pounds falling to the ground would definitely be heard by those living below. Therefore, we questioned the residents on the third floor. 0

Unfortunately, the third-floor resident shook her head, stating that she had been watching television at night and hadn’t heard anything unusual. One neighbor, an older woman, looked around before pulling us aside and said, "Young man, let me tell you! This girl was quite reckless. I once saw her bringing several young men home late at night, and they didn’t come out until the next day. As for what happened inside, well, we can all guess—she was quite promiscuous!" 0

"Just look at how she dressed every day!" The older woman sighed dramatically. "That outfit barely covered anything; it was really something else. And yet she attracted envy from a bunch of young girls—what a shame! I heard she died at home; no need to ask! It must have been a murder, right? I said something like this would happen sooner or later..." 0

I told her that it wasn’t a murder after all. She shook her head helplessly, looking somewhat regretful as she huffed and walked away without another word. After questioning several more people, we received nearly identical responses; however, others seemed more rational compared to this woman. 0

Based on our findings, we could roughly analyze what kind of person this girl was. I couldn’t comment on her private life, but it was clear she wasn’t the kind of good girl traditional morals would describe; she appeared to be quite avant-garde and bold. 0

At that moment, Mary found me and said, "Brother Shao, according to Xu Rong's phone records, many people called her last night after she died. This morning, her close friends also tried to reach her multiple times. She received calls from several people before her death, most of whom were male. The director is already following up on these calls." 0

I nodded and replied, "This girl received more calls in one night than I do in a week; it seems our workload is only going to increase." 0

By the afternoon, we had filtered out many individuals with clear alibis. There were still four or five people who had contacted Xu Rong; these would be our primary targets for investigation. From the limited clues available so far, there was that mysterious note with unclear significance. 0

With no clear direction, we could only start by investigating those close to Xu Rong. Our first target was named Guan Xing; he had spoken with the deceased shortly before her death. When we found him, he was in a private room at an internet café. As we opened the door to the room, a strong odor hit us. 0

Inside were a man and a woman playing games while naked, with used condoms scattered around—there was no need to ask what had transpired there. The man appeared to be around twenty-five or twenty-six years old while the girl looked small and fragile—she didn’t seem to be even twenty yet. When we opened the door, the girl turned her head while Guan Xing remained fixated on the screen. 0

Guan Xing cursed loudly: "If you want your daughter back, take her! It’s not like I forced her to stay with me. She’ll come looking for me again in a few days anyway; do as you please..." 0

I frowned at his words; he didn’t even turn around as he continued staring at the screen. The girl looked at us nervously and tugged at Guan Xing’s arm. He slapped her face and said angrily, "Get lost! You decide whether to stay or go; don’t interrupt my game." 0

At that moment, I couldn’t take it anymore. I pulled out my police badge and said firmly, "Police business—please cooperate!" 0

"Oh," Guan Xing finally turned around and asked us, "What do you want?" 0

"Put some clothes on!" Yan Junde ordered. "You’re coming with us!" 0

As Guan Xing got dressed and started walking out, he suddenly bolted for the door. None of us expected him to run away like that. The director shouted after him: "You stop right there!" Before he could finish his sentence, Yan Junde chased after him. In almost an instant, Yan Junde tackled him to the ground. 0

Yan Junde pinned Guan Xing down and said sternly: "Why are you running? Did you do something guilty?" 0

"Isn’t it obvious?" Guan Xing retorted. "What else could you possibly want? I really didn’t expect that old man would call the police! But I didn’t force her! If you don’t believe me, ask her! She insisted on being with me—said she’d love me forever—and no matter how much I tried to push her away, she wouldn’t leave! Sure she’s not an adult yet but she’s seventeen! She can take responsibility for her actions! I’m not committing a crime here!" 0

At that moment, Juan Juan led the girl out as well. I truly couldn’t understand why such a young girl would follow someone like him. Juan Juan asked for her family’s phone number and made a call. Not long after, her father arrived at the internet café. 0

At that moment, the people in the internet café formed a circle, watching the scene unfold. The girl's father looked like a typical farmer, with dark skin and a slightly hunched back. Upon seeing us, he appeared somewhat at a loss, unsure of what to say. Juan Juan said, "Take the child home. Make sure she never associates with people like this again; otherwise, her whole life will be ruined." 0

The farmer nodded submissively. 0

However, the girl suddenly exclaimed, "I willingly want to be with him! He didn't force me! I'm not going back; I want to be with him. I love him!" As she spoke, she broke free from her father's grip and hugged Guan Xing. Guan Xing pushed her away while helplessly saying to us, "See? I told you, it's not me forcing her; she insists on being with me." 0

A wave of sadness surged within me as I recalled a case I had encountered before. It involved a seventeen-year-old girl who, in order to engage in a threesome with two male classmates, ended up strangling her grandmother when she tried to stop her. The girl's indifferent demeanor at that time filled me with immense sorrow; after all, her grandmother had raised her since childhood. 0

It was clear to anyone that Guan Xing merely viewed her as an outlet for his desires. The farmer clung tightly to his daughter, his murky eyes unable to shed any more tears—who knew how many times his heart had been broken to lead to such an outcome? After much effort, the father finally managed to pull his daughter away from Guan Xing. Even as they walked far away, we could still hear the girl's cries. 0

"What are you looking at?" I shouted angrily. "Get back inside! Take him away!" 0

Yan Junde remarked, "If I ever have a daughter and she turns out like this, I'll break her legs." 0

I shook my head, recalling a saying: those who are pitiful must also have something detestable about them. But then I thought that perhaps the girl had experienced things we were unaware of, which led her to become who she was now. I hoped that was the case; maybe only then could it provide me with some solace. 0

Juan Juan said, "Such a young girl; what a pity. When I was putting clothes on her earlier, I noticed she had so many injuries..." 0

After bringing Guan Xing back to the Police Department, I asked, "Do you know Xu Rong?" 0

Guan Xing frowned but then smiled and said, "Oh? I thought it was something serious; turns out you're just asking about Sister Xu. What's wrong? Did she get into trouble? She wasn't caught for gathering a crowd or anything like that—there's no way I'd be involved in that. Or did she get into a fight? Stab someone? Or got stabbed?" 0

"Oh?" Listening to Guan Xing's words made it seem like Xu Rong wasn't exactly innocent. I asked, "Does Xu Rong have any enemies?" 0

"Too many to count!" Guan Xing replied. "If I could let her go, would I?" 0

"That depends on whether what you say is useful," I said coldly. 0

Guan Xing nodded heavily and then said, "Alright! Let me tell you—Sister Xu has plenty of enemies. She's known as the queen of the nightlife scene! With connections to several rich second-generation heirs and big bosses, she's got quite the temper. She often gets into fights at nightclubs and hasn't faced any real consequences yet." 0

"But recently she's provoked someone she shouldn't have," Guan Xing continued. "That woman isn't harmless either. Our Jing City has been developing rapidly lately; many bosses have come in wanting a piece of the pie. Among them is one particular individual—I don't know her name; all I know is everyone calls her Queen—she's the only daughter of a major boss." 0

I nodded for him to continue. 0

Guan Xing explained, "One day at the same nightclub, both of them had too much to drink. There's an old saying: two tigers can't share one mountain; they ended up fighting each other. Sister Xu smashed someone's head open; Queen was carried away afterward but left a warning: if she didn't kill Sister Xu, she'd no longer be human!" 0

"The next day, that nightclub was smashed up," Guan Xing said. "The boss didn't even dare call the police because everyone in this line of work has some connections on the street. We realized that this Queen really meant business; as a result, Sister Xu didn't dare show her face for quite some time. Queen made it clear that if she found Xu Rong, she'd kill her on the spot." 0

The director slammed the table and said, "Do you think this is a movie? Acting like a gangster? I'm going to arrest all of them right now!" 0

I pulled the agitated director back and said, "Calm down. It's better to understand the situation clearly before taking action!" Hearing this, the director finally sat back down. 0

"You called Xu Rong last night," I said, looking at Guan Xing. "What was that about?" 0

Guan Xing chuckled and replied, "Sister Xu has been a bit on edge these days, so I asked if she needed me to keep her company. She said no, that there are people a hundred times better than me." 0

"Have you slept with Xu Rong?" I asked. 0

Guan Xing was taken aback for a moment before saying, "Well, since you asked, yes. A woman like Sister Xu is a real woman—charming and sexy. Just one time and it's hard to stop…" 0

"Do you know who was with her yesterday?" I inquired. 0

"I don't know that," Guan Xing shook his head. "But it should be those rich second-generation kids; Sister Xu has her ways of dealing with them. What's going on with her? Was she kidnapped? Or did that Queen really kill her?" 0

A Charming Widow sent a letter to a Young Man, inviting him over for dinner in the middle of the night. Afterward, she let him drive her husband's Gallop. Coincidentally, on the way, he encountered a Young Woman hitchhiking. Her actions after getting in the car made it hard for him to control himself—more benefits for homebodies await… 0
