Exiting the Dormitory Supervisor's office, we split into two groups. Dezi was tasked with investigating the hospital matter, specifically to clarify why Zhao Kaifang and Cao Jiaying had gone there. According to Shuwen Tian's description, this was currently the biggest point of suspicion, even more so than the possibility of a murder over sunflower seeds. 0

The primary objective was to determine whether the Killer was one of the three individuals in the dormitory. If not, how did the Killer manage to transport the body into this female dormitory? During this time, had anyone witnessed anything unusual? Were there any findings from the surveillance cameras outside the building? These were all intricate and time-consuming matters, best left to the local police and the Police Department. 0

Mary and I found the counselor of Zhao Kaifang's class. Interestingly, although she was a counselor, she appeared to be a few years younger than me, clearly a recent graduate here for an internship. Given the circumstances, it seemed unlikely she would be able to continue in her role after such an incident. At that moment, she looked dazed, her eyes vacant, taking a while to respond before greeting us. I shrugged and said, "Teacher Zhao, we're here to ask you some questions about Zhao Kaifang. You must have heard about her death?" 0

The counselor nodded and led us into a lounge. Once seated, she said, "I just graduated with my master's degree and came to Lanzhong University for my internship. I still have classes; we hold class meetings every two weeks. If something important comes up, the class monitor will call me. But who would have thought that Zhao Kaifang would die like this?" 0

University counselors differ from high school teachers; they don't constantly supervise these adults. However, how could no one have noticed that Zhao Kaifang hadn't attended class for over a week? I posed this question. 0

The counselor shook her head and replied, "Captain Shao, you might have been away from campus life for too long. Nowadays, campuses are places filled with freedom. Whether students attend classes or skip them is their choice. Of course, facing the threat of failing is also their decision; if students don’t report it and substitute teachers don’t intervene, I wouldn’t receive any information about it. Her roommates never informed me..." 0

Sighing, I recognized that mutual deflection is a common human instinct. However, I refrained from making any direct judgments and simply asked, "What was Zhao Kaifang's personality like? How was her relationship with classmates?" 0

After some thought, the counselor responded, "Well, they just started their sophomore year. In the year I've interacted with them, I don't know Zhao Kaifang very well. She's a beautiful girl but not very talkative; academically she's average—hardly memorable. Her social relationships seem fine; I've never heard of her having conflicts with anyone. Overall, she's quite ordinary." 0

"By the way," she continued quickly leaning forward slightly, "I know she got into this school with her boyfriend during their freshman year. You might want to ask him; if Zhao Kaifang went missing, he should have reported it right away." She added hastily, "But I don’t know which department or major he’s in. If you can find out..." 0

It seemed we wouldn't gain much more useful information from her. Just as we were about to leave her office, a phone call came in—it was Juan Juan calling. It appeared there was new progress on their end. Sure enough, Juan Juan informed me: "We have new results from the autopsy; the estimated time of death for the victim was around ten o'clock five days ago—and there's a shocking discovery." 0

"A shocking discovery?" I instinctively asked. 0

Juan Juan's voice came through: "That's right. During the autopsy process, we found that Zhao Kaifang's uterine lining was quite thin and showed irreversible changes in its internal structure and cervix. We preliminarily conclude that Zhao Kaifang had undergone an abortion before her death. However, we can't confirm this yet; I suggest you check at the hospital—it might be related to her death." 0

I frowned slightly; Dezi was already looking into Zhao Kaifang's hospital visit while Juan Juan relayed this news—there must be some connection between these two pieces of information. The term 'abortion' alone conjured many potential stories of death in my mind. 0

An hour later, Dezi completed his investigation at the hospital. 0

From Dezi's findings, we learned that Zhao Kaifang had indeed undergone an abortion—but it wasn't during the instance Shuwen Tian witnessed; it had happened several days earlier—about two weeks ago. The medical records indicated that Zhao Kaifang had been pregnant for over two months prior to the abortion—approximately seventy days. Delaying further would have made it more noticeable and riskier. 0

It seemed Zhao Kaifang had pushed things to the last moment; otherwise, she should have resolved it within a month of discovering her pregnancy rather than dragging it out for seventy days. Clearly, there were complications involved here—the urgent task now was to identify who the father of this unborn child was before its tragic fate unfolded. 0

Dezi organized the documents and said to us outside, "You know, these young people nowadays don't think at all about their future. Especially those girls, they easily move in with men and often end up pregnant. I wonder what their parents would think if they found out." 0

Hearing Dezi's words, Mary scoffed and replied, "Dezi, that's a bit extreme. Why is it always the girls' fault when something goes wrong? Why don't you talk about the boys who deceive others' feelings, who dare to do things but can't take responsibility? Not one of them is decent." 0

Seeing that the two were ready to continue their debate, I quickly intervened, "Ladies, there will be plenty of time for arguments later, but now is not the time. Considering the time, Captain Li should have found Zhao Kaifang's friend by now; it's time for us to find her." 0

Mary rolled her eyes at Dezi and then followed me as we walked away. 0

When we found Captain Li, he had just located Zhao Kaifang's friend, named Zhao Ke'er. To avoid raising suspicions among other students and to prevent rumors from spreading, Captain Li was particularly cautious about the environment when he took Zhao Ke'er away and did not bring her to Dormitory 12. 0

At that moment, we were in a KFC located far from the school. 0

Zhao Ke'er looked somewhat dejected as she sipped on a cup of coffee. We sat down, and without any small talk, I got straight to the point and said to Zhao Ke'er, "You must have heard about Zhao Kaifang's death by now?" 0

"I know," Zhao Ke'er nodded lightly and said, "The news is all over the school; everyone is discussing it. Even if I didn't want to know, I would have to. Besides, Zhao Kaifang was my best friend; you must catch the killer!" 0

"We will definitely catch the killer. You knew that Zhao Kaifang was pregnant, right?" I nodded at Zhao Ke'er. 0

Zhao Ke'er slowly nodded as if she had made up her mind and then said, "I knew about it. Before, Zhao Kaifang asked me to keep it a secret, but now that she's been harmed, I don't think Kai Fang would blame me for speaking up. About three months ago, Kai Fang started dating a boy. I'm not familiar with him but I know he's from Class Two of Automation; his name is Dai Sheng. He's tall and handsome and plays on their basketball team." 0

As Zhao Ke'er spoke, Mary had already opened her laptop and began searching for information about this person online. 0

"But not long after they started dating, Dai Sheng broke up with Kai Fang," Zhao Ke'er said with frustration and helplessness. "They probably only dated for a little over half a month. At first, I didn't know what was going on. Later on, after I pressed her for answers, I found out that Kai Fang was pregnant! I was furious and wanted to confront Dai Sheng!" 0

At this point, Zhao Ke'er’s tone weakened again. "But Zhao Kaifang wouldn't let me go after him; I still don't understand why she felt that way. During that time, Dai Sheng never came to see Kai Fang once. Yet Kai Fang never called him either. For some reason, even though Dai Sheng stopped reaching out to her completely, Kai Fang still hadn't terminated the pregnancy." 0

"It dragged on for more than fifty days until her belly became increasingly obvious," Zhao Ke'er shook her head and continued. "Only then did she start to panic. In the last twenty days or so, I spent very little time with her and had no idea what she was doing. The last time I saw her was over two weeks ago; she told me that no man is worth trusting." 0

Sighing deeply, she continued, "She asked me to accompany her for an abortion, so I went with her. At that time, I had no idea where she got so much money from; it cost several thousand altogether. She definitely didn't dare tell her family about it. But she also said she hadn't contacted Dai Sheng at all. I once asked her where she got the money from, but she wouldn't tell me and refused any money I offered." 0

"Since that day, you haven't seen Zhao Kaifang again?" I asked after a moment of contemplation. 0

Zhao Ke'er nodded. "Yes, the doctor said it was just a minor surgery, nothing serious. After the operation, Zhao Kaifang was able to move around on her own shortly after. We parted ways on campus, and I never saw her again. Who would have thought that the next time I heard about her, it would be under such tragic circumstances? I never imagined she would die." 0

"You must catch the Killer!" Zhao Ke'er said hoarsely. "I was her best friend!" 0

I gently patted her arm and replied, "Thank you for the information you've provided." 0

We stepped out of KFC, leaving Zhao Ke'er alone to continue sipping her coffee inside. Mary turned to me and said, "We have the basic information on Dai Sheng. He's currently a junior student in Class Two of Automation, and they're in class right now. Should we go?" 0

I lightly tapped my temple with my finger and said, "He can't be considered a suspect yet. It wouldn't be good to confront him like this; if he's not the Killer, it could cause a lot of unnecessary gossip among his classmates. But our time is precious, so we'll have to ask you, our pure and beautiful girl, to bring him out!" 0

Mary shot me a glance and replied, "Brother Shao, you really think of everything." 0

"Of course! In our line of work, we can't afford to overlook anything," I said with a smile. 0

Late at night, The Village Doctor drunkenly sought out the Beautiful Widow Nurse. Hearing strange sounds and soft moans from inside the room, he kicked open the door only to find his strong son... 0
