Lingtai Fangcun Mountain Looking at this familiar place in his memory, the beggar's eyes revealed a deep excitement. After enduring countless hardships, he finally returned to the place where he first learned his craft.
"Master, your disciple has returned."
The beggar struggled step by step, staggering towards the Three Stars Cave. It was winter, and the weather was cold. The beggar's bare feet stepped on the snowy ground, turning his feet red from the cold. However, the beggar seemed to be completely unaffected by the cold. Perhaps, this bit of cold meant nothing to him at all.
The beggar knelt at the entrance of the Three Stars Cave, tears welling up in his eyes as he gazed at the cave before him. Bodhidharma was in the midst of enlightenment, his mastery of the universe's principles making him one of the strongest individuals in the three realms. However, the stronger one became, the more difficult it was to advance in cultivation, often requiring tens of thousands of years in seclusion. Subhuti opened his eyes and, after a brief calculation, a strange expression appeared on his face.
"It's strange, Wukong isn't in seclusion at Emei Mount, so how did he come to the Three Stars Cave?" Subhuti felt puzzled, and the next moment, Subhuti's figure disappeared from the spot, leaving only a meditation cushion. "Wukong, no, is this an incarnation?"
Subhuti appeared in front of the beggar, and upon seeing the beggar's appearance, Subhuti's expression changed.
"Master, disciple..."
Upon seeing Subhuti, the beggar's eyes turned red, and his whole body seemed to become somewhat illusory.
"Come in and speak," Subhuti waved his sleeve and led the beggar into the cave.
In the cave, Subhuti examined the beggar's body with a very serious expression. "Wukong, who forced you to this point, actually causing your true spirit to split in half?" Subhuti asked in confusion. The beggar in front of him was none other than Sun Wukong, the Yuddhajaya, who should have already achieved Buddhahood and been in seclusion at Emei Mount.
Sun Wukong weakly said, "Master, I have been tricked by Tathagata." Then, Sun Wukong explained the whole story. It all started 500 years ago when Sun Wukong was tasked with protecting Tang Monk on his journey to the western sky to obtain scriptures. However, due to White Bone Spirit, the master and disciple fell out, and Sun Wukong was driven away by Tang Monk from the journey team.
This time when I left, it caused a fake Wukong to appear, who is actually the Six-Eared Macaque.
The Six-Eared Macaque impersonated Wukong and stole the travel permit. Sha Wujing and Pig Bajie had to find Sun Wukong again. There was a big battle between the real and fake Wukong, and in the end, they entered the Ling Mountain to find Tathagata Buddha to distinguish the real from the fake.
At this point, Sun Wukong's eyes revealed deep resentment, saying, "I didn't expect that all of this was a trap. That fake Monkey King was actually used by Tathagata to plot against me. After entering the Ling Mountain, Tathagata accused me of being Six-Eared Macaque, and then publicly used a spell to turn me into Six-Eared Macaque.
"Tathagata, how dare you have such audacity to deceive me like this."
Subhuti's eyebrows were raised in anger. When Tathagata chose Sun Wukong as the pilgrim, Subhuti naturally knew about it. At that time, Subhuti thought Sun Wukong had a stubborn nature, and agreed to Tathagata's suggestion to let him go through some trials. He allowed Tathagata to create difficulties for Sun Wukong.
Although Subhuti did not intervene in the havoc in the Heavenly Palace or when Sun Wukong was trapped under the Five Elements Mountain, he had been secretly observing Wukong all along.
After realizing that Tathagata and others were truly devoted to nurturing and tempering Wukong, Subhuti finally relaxed and focused on his own cultivation. Unexpectedly, Tathagata took advantage of Subhuti's lowered guard and substituted Sun Wukong with the Six-Eared Macaque.
Looking at the weakened Sun Wukong, Subhuti's eyes flashed with concern as he asked, "Where is your true body now, Wukong?"
Sun Wukong replied, "It's on Mount Ling. They are trying to refine me day and night with the flames of the Luminous Crystal. If I hadn't secretly separated a trace of my true spirit, I'm afraid that in another hundred years, I would have been completely refined."
"My good disciple, you rest here first, and I will go seek justice for you," Subhuti said. After speaking, he set up a formation around Sun Wukong, drawing on the spiritual energy of heaven and earth to nourish Sun Wukong's weakened true spirit form. After completing all of this, Subhuti's eyes revealed a strong killing intent, and then he disappeared into the Three Stars Cave.
Subhuti headed towards the direction of Ling Mountain, not having gone far when suddenly feeling the celestial mechanism in chaos, as if a great power had disrupted it.
"Old friend, why not reveal yourself?" Subhuti stopped moving forward and looked into the void, speaking in a detached tone.
"Bodhi friend, long time no see."
A fat monk walked out from the void. He had a kind face and a smile on his lips. He was the future Buddha of Buddhism, Maitreya Buddha.
"So you are Maitreya Buddha. Are you trying to stop me?"
Subhuti sneered and said, "Maitreya Buddha is a great figure in Buddhism, but compared to Subhuti, his cultivation is still far inferior."
Maitreya Buddha smiled and said, "Friend, the matter of Wukong is indeed a mistake on the part of Tathagata Buddha, but do you know why Tathagata Buddha did this?"
Subhuti replied, "Regardless of the reason, I must seek justice for my disciple."
Maitreya Buddha shook his head and said, "Friend, Ling Mountain is not a place you can go. If you go, even with all your supernatural powers, you may still face the risk of falling."
Subhuti narrowed his eyes and smirked, saying, "Maitreya, I once listened to the teachings with your master at Zixiao Palace. In terms of seniority, both you and Tathagata can only be considered my juniors. Perhaps it's been too long since I've roamed these three realms, and you've all forgotten my abilities?"
"Well, well, friend, I am aware of your background. I just ask that you listen to me. After I speak, if you still insist on going to Ling Mountain, I will not stop you."
Maitreya Buddha still maintains a smile, Subhuti gradually calmed down and said, "In that case, friend Maitreya, please go ahead."
Maitreya Buddha said, "Friend, currently in Ling Mountain, there are a total of seven quasi-saints: Tathagata Buddha, Lamp Ancient Buddha, Medicine Buddha, Peacock King Bodhisattva, Great Burning Heaven King Buddha, Emperor Shakra Buddha, and in addition, there's me. I wonder if you are confident in dealing with all seven of us at the same time? Even if Medicine Buddha and I don't make a move, with the five quasi-saints and the formation of Ling Mountain, if you were to go to Ling Mountain, I'm afraid it would be easy to get in, but difficult to get out."
Subhuti remained silent, continuing to look at Maitreya Buddha.
Maitreya Buddha sighed and said, "Friend, do you really think that Wukong can split the true spirit under the eyes of the Buddhas on Mount Ling, without being noticed?"
Subhuti's face finally changed at this. He looked at Maitreya Buddha and said, "Was it you who made a move in secret? Why?"
Maitreya Buddha didn't speak again, but took out a stone and said, "This is the Chaos Stone. Friend, as the saying goes, no destruction, no construction. Wukong encountering this calamity may not necessarily be a bad thing."
Maitreya Buddha left behind the Chaos Stone and then drifted away. Subhuti looked at the Chaos Stone in his hand, his expression changing constantly. Buddhism is after all a huge entity in the three realms. Subhuti is alone and has not established a religion. Although he is powerful, he is not confident that he can destroy Buddhism single-handedly. "Forget it, the karma has been formed, and there will be a day of settlement sooner or later."
Subhuti sighed and then turned back to Xieyue Sanxing Cave.
