The cold winter wind shuttles between the city, turning every high-rise building into a sparkling ice sculpture. People put on heavy coats, and the atmosphere on the street becomes more peaceful and solemn. In this cold season, Mo Yanyu decided to take the stars to experience the fun of ice skating, hoping it would become an unforgettable memory for her.
They arrived at an outdoor ice skating rink in the city center. Many people were already enjoying the pleasure of skating on the ice. Some skated skillfully, drawing beautiful arcs on the ice, while some families held hands, carefully learning each movement.
Mo Yanyu squatted down and tied a pair of pink children's ice skates onto Star's tiny feet. Star's face was full of curiosity, but when she stood on the smooth ice for the first time, that anticipation gradually turned into unease and fear.
"Uncle Mo, am I going to fall?" Star nervously grabbed Mo Yanyu's hand, a worried expression on her little face.
Mo Yanyu smiled and gently responded with his cold and reticent voice, "It's okay to fall down, just get back up. I'm here." As he spoke, he lightly held Star's hand and guided her to glide slowly on the ice.
Star observed her surroundings with curiosity, watching those who were gracefully skating on the ice, her eyes filled with longing. However, when she stepped onto the smooth, mirror-like surface for the first time, her excitement and anticipation gradually gave way to unease and fear. Her small hand tightly grasped Mo Yanyu's hand, as if seeking safety and support.
"Uncle Mo, will it hurt a lot if I accidentally fall?" Star asked softly, with a worried look in her eyes.
Mo Yanyu looked down at Star, his face showing a gentle smile. "It won't, you're wearing protective gear," he said in a calm and firm voice, like a warm force giving Star courage. He gently held Star's hand and glided with her slowly on the ice.
In the first few steps, Xingxing seemed a bit clumsy, her small body swaying unsteadily, but with Mo Yanyu's guidance, she gradually found her balance. As time passed, Xingxing's expression changed from nervous to excited, and she began to try letting go of Mo Yanyu's hand, gliding carefully on the ice on her own.
"Look, Uncle Mo, I can skate by myself!" Xingxing exclaimed joyfully, her pure delight infecting everyone around her.
Mo Yanyu stood aside, his eyes closely following every move of the star, feeling not only vigilant but also proud. Although he is usually not very talkative and has a cold expression, at this moment, his heart is filled with love and care for the star.
"Very good, Star, you did great," he couldn't help but applaud and praise, it was his encouragement and support for the star.
The afternoon sun gradually softened, and the lively atmosphere on the ice rink reached its peak. Star, wearing her bright little jacket, looked like a lively elf, joyfully gliding on the ice. Despite still learning to maintain balance, whenever she accidentally fell, her spirit of not giving up always made her quickly stand up and return to the joy of skating.
"Uncle Mo, watch how far I can skate this time!" Star excitedly showed her new skills to Mo Yanyu, her innocent courage was touching. She carefully pushed her feet, gradually increasing speed.
Mo Yanyu stood aside, observing every attempt of the star while preparing to step forward to help at any time. Seeing the star so happy, an unintentionally gentle smile appeared on his face, a rare relaxation and softness in front of this little girl.
"Very good, Star! You did great!" Mo Yanyu encouraged, his voice echoing on the ice rink, giving Star endless courage and confidence.
As Star struggled to skate, she accidentally fell. Mo Yanyu immediately went forward and gently helped her up. "It's okay, Star. Everyone falls when learning to skate. What's important is that you dare to try and challenge yourself," Mo Yanyu's voice was full of comfort and support.
Star wiped her knee, smiled slightly, and her eyes shimmered with an indomitable spirit. "Uncle Mo, I'm not afraid. I want to keep skating!" Her voice was firm and full of strength, and that brave spirit once again helped her stand up and continue challenging herself on the ice.
Their laughter and cheers on the ice rink blended with the surrounding atmosphere. Other skaters were also inspired by Star's courage, occasionally casting admiring glances and offering encouraging applause.
As time passed, Star gradually adapted to gliding on the ice. She tried to skate faster, although her steps were still unsteady, but every small improvement brought a bright smile to her face.
Mo Yanyu stood aside, quietly watching as the stars explored the ice on their own. Although his face still wore that cold expression, pride couldn't help but surface in his eyes. He knew deep down that for a three-year-old, being brave enough to face and overcome their fears was something worth encouraging.
As the sun set in the west, the lights on the ice rink gradually lit up.
Mo Yanyu and Star drew the last few graceful arcs on the ice together, then slowly glided towards the exit.
"Uncle Mo, I had so much fun today!" Star happily shared her feelings as they walked.
Mo Yanyu gently touched the head of the star, his eyes filled with tenderness: "Yes, star, as long as we bravely face it, there is nothing we cannot overcome."
Outside, the wind and snow gradually intensified, but the warm stove in Mo Yanyu's home emitted enough warmth to keep the cold at bay. Mo Yanyu skillfully prepared hot cocoa in the kitchen, his movements practiced and orderly, each step revealing his attention to detail. Before long, two cups of richly fragrant hot cocoa were ready.
He carefully placed the hot cocoa on the tray and then walked to the living room, where Xingxing was already sitting excitedly on the small rug by the warm stove, waiting for this warm surprise.
"Xingxing, be careful, it's hot," Mo Yanyu gently reminded, handing her a cup of hot cocoa, then sitting down beside her.
Star held the cup in both hands, carefully blowing on the steam floating above before taking small sips. "Uncle Mo, this is delicious!" Her face was filled with pure joy.
Mo Yanyu looked at Star's satisfied little face and felt warmth in his heart. He smiled lightly and began to share the fun moments from today's ice skating rink with Star. "Star, the way you turned on the ice today was really great. Have you already forgotten about falling down?" His tone was light, trying to bring out more laughter.
Star nodded excitedly, "Yes, Uncle Mo! I even learned a new move. Although I fell a few times, it was a lot of fun!" Her eyes sparkled with curiosity for new things.
As the night deepened, the cold wind howled outside Mo Yanyu's house, but the atmosphere inside was unusually warm. Mo Yanyu and Star sat by the fireplace, enjoying the tranquility and warmth. Star held a cup in her small hands, occasionally looking up at Mo Yanyu with a sense of reliance in her eyes.
"Uncle Mo, when I was skating on the ice today, I was really scared at first, but with you by my side, I felt like I wasn't afraid of anything." Star's voice was small but full of courage, and her face was filled with a sweet smile.
Mo Yanyu smiled slightly, showing a rare gentleness in front of Star. "Star, you were really brave today, not afraid even when you fell, and you got up right away. This is part of growing up, not backing down when faced with difficulties, facing them bravely." His tone revealed encouragement and support for Star.
After hearing this, Star's eyes sparkled as if greatly inspired. "Uncle Mo, are we still going ice skating? I want to learn more skating moves!" Her voice was full of anticipation.
"Of course, Star. As long as you like, we can go many more times and learn all the skating moves you want to learn," Mo Yanyu said firmly, his eyes filled with promise.
The two of them sat around the warm stove, discussing future plans, sharing today's interesting stories, and occasionally teasing each other. Star's laughter was as clear as silver bells, bringing endless joy and warmth to this small home on this cold winter night. Mo Yanyu's usual seriousness and calmness gradually melted away in such moments, and his smile became more and more frequent. This warmth and happiness seemed to truly melt the winter's chill, filling the entire room with the warmth of love.
As time quietly passed, it grew late, and Mo Yanyu gently reminded Star that it was time to sleep. Star reluctantly nodded, but she knew that there would be more happiness waiting for her tomorrow. Mo Yanyu gently tucked her in and kissed her forehead, "Goodnight, Star."
"Good night, Uncle Mo," the voice of the stars carried a happy weariness. On such a night, the whole world seemed so beautiful and peaceful.
As time passed, the snow outside seemed to become even gentler. Mo Yanyu and the stars enjoyed their own beautiful time in this warm little corner. This simple yet happy evening would become a precious memory in their hearts.
