Can these two really work together? Let's wait and see!"
Qin Hao's teasing drew laughter from the audience. Backstage, Xia Weiliang's manager, Sophie, gripped her phone tightly, her palms slightly sweaty. She anxiously watched Xia Weiliang under the spotlight on stage, her brows furrowed. The noise of the stage seemed to isolate her from everything else.
She dialed the Public Relations Team's number and whispered instructions, "Keep a close eye on online public opinion. If any negative comments arise, guide and control them immediately. We cannot let any unfavorable news about Xia Weiliang spread."
After Sophie hung up the phone, her gaze remained fixed on Xia Weiliang on the stage, filled with worry and anticipation.
In the players' lounge, professional esports player Lin Ze watched the screen displaying the "team" of Xia Weiliang and Lu Jinghan, a smirk of disdain curling at the corners of his mouth. His long fingers lightly tapped on the table, producing a rhythmic sound as if he were deep in thought.
"Ha, a pretty face trying to make it in esports? What a joke," he muttered to himself before picking up his phone to contact his teammates. "When the match starts, focus on Xia Weiliang. Let her see the harsh reality of professional gaming."
A glint of ruthlessness flashed in Lin Ze's eyes as he began devising strategies against Xia Weiliang and Lu Jinghan, preparing to teach them a harsh lesson during the match. He set down his phone and coldly stared at Xia Weiliang on the screen, like a cheetah poised to strike, waiting for the perfect moment to pounce. The cool air from the air conditioning in the lounge brushed against his face, accentuating his stern expression.
With the match about to begin, a tense atmosphere filled the air. Xia Weiliang adjusted her headset and softly spoke into the microphone, " Ye Sheng, hello. I look forward to your guidance." Her voice was sweet and gentle, a stark contrast to Lu Jinghan's indifference.
Lu Jinghan merely responded with a curt "hm," saying little else. He manipulated the mouse, his eyes glued to the screen, focused and serious as if the entire world outside didn't concern him.
Xia Weiliang didn't feel embarrassed by Lu Jinghan's coldness. She smiled and said, "I know my gaming skills are lacking, but I will work hard to improve. I hope you won't think poorly of me." As she spoke, she discreetly observed Lu Jinghan's expression but found him still emotionless, as if he hadn't heard her at all.
Lu Jinghan maneuvered his game character swiftly to a designated position. "Watch your positioning," he reminded briefly, his tone still cool but carrying an almost imperceptible hint of concern.
Xia Weiliang nodded eagerly. Taking a deep breath, she tried to remain calm and focused on the screen as she carefully followed Lu Jinghan's lead with her character. The flickering lights in the venue reflected in her clear, bright eyes, shining with determination.
