Standing in front of the mirror, Ye Kai adjusted his clothes, rubbed his cheeks vigorously, and patted them lightly. He looked at his reflection and said, "You need to remember, you've gotten yourself involved in a life-threatening situation. You have no choice; it's just stealing a little electricity. It's not a big deal. Yes, it's not a big deal... right?"
Although stealing a little electricity seemed trivial, he had never done anything like it before. After all, this was his first time, and he felt a bit nervous.
He clenched his fists tightly, closed his eyes, gritted his teeth, took a deep breath, and suddenly opened his eyes wide. He turned around and strode toward the door.

Now, all he could do was take it as it came. Ye Kai stomped his foot and grumbled to himself, putting on a fierce expression as he stepped forward and flung the door open.
A tall man, around thirty years old, stood there with a face full of helplessness and awkwardness. This must be Hao Jian.
"Are you Ye Kai?"
Upon hearing the question, Ye Kai felt as if he had just bitten into an ice cream cone on a hot summer day, shivering unexpectedly. He turned slightly, oh no, he turned right and looked down.
A girl, about five feet five inches tall, with a delicate figure and a face that looked like that of a fourteen or fifteen-year-old, appeared before him. Her uniform was almost bursting at the seams.

Ye Kai blinked and took a moment to size up this girl, whose figure was surprisingly ample for her appearance. He couldn’t help but click his tongue twice in surprise and shook his head, glancing over at the awkward Hao Jian beside him, who seemed unsure of what to do.
"I'm asking you! Are you Ye Kai?" Zhao Mengmeng hated being looked at like that by men, especially this one. She had already decided to blacklist this jerk completely.
In fact, she had even thought it through: from now on, every time she saw him, she would confront him once. Otherwise, it would be hard to quell her anger.

Ye Kai cleared his throat, adjusted his clothes once more, and made an effort to soften his facial expression. With a gentlemanly demeanor, he said, "Sister, I am Ye Kai. May I ask what you need from me?"
"Sister?" Zhao Mengmeng never expected that this lecherous man would call her 'sister.'
However, she soon felt her blood pressure spike, and her anger surged explosively. "You bastard! Sister my head! Do you know I can report you for harassing a police officer? Do you know I can charge you with obstructing official duties? Huh? Huh? Huh?..."

Watching as she transformed from a vibrant young police officer into a furious dragon lady in just three seconds after he called her 'sister' was quite the spectacle!

"But, young lady, could you please stop poking my stomach..." Ye Kai reached out and rubbed the head of the girl who was furiously jabbing at him.
"Cough, cough!"
Hao Jian could no longer stand by. He knew that if he didn't intervene, this scene would continue indefinitely. So he quickly grabbed Ye Kai's hand and sincerely said, "Mr. Ye Kai, we are from the City Criminal Police Team. I am Captain Hao Jian, and this is my colleague, Zhao Mengmeng..."

Ye Kai was momentarily stunned; the ringtone had come at just the right time. He glanced at Hao Jian, and at his gesture, he answered the call, all the while ignoring the furious glare from Energetic Girl.
"Hello, who is this?" Ye Kai said as he answered the phone, winking at Zhao Mengmeng.
His shameless demeanor immediately provoked another wave of anger from the girl, but it also allowed Ye Kai to relax a bit, easing the tension that had been building in his mind.
"Hey, is this Ye? It's Zhang Dafu. There's a fire in our building! You need to come quickly..."

Ye Kai thought hard for a moment. Oh! That’s the cook living in apartment 01 on the third floor: "Oh, there’s a fire? So what...?" However, Ye Kai was completely stunned. He looked up at Hao Jian, the captain of the City Criminal Police Team, then down at Energetic Girl, who had a hint of a smile on her lips but quickly suppressed it when he glanced her way. He felt utterly bewildered.
The expressions on their faces clearly conveyed a message: 'Condolences.' Ye Kai understood this all too well.
"What the hell! Didn’t I buy several fire extinguishers for you guys? How did it catch fire?"
Ye Kai nearly jumped up, shouting, "Damn it! My whole life—eating, drinking, living well, gambling—ah!!!"
But in reality, his heart was bleeding. It hurt so much!
This was the only bit of comfort he had managed to snatch away from those wolves back home!
With a sour expression, Ye Kai gritted his teeth and said, "Captain Hao Jian, what’s going on? Hurry up! My house is on fire! I need to get moving; everything I have in this life is tied up in those few properties. It’s my livelihood..."
At that moment, Hao Jian was also taken aback.
As the captain of the City Criminal Police Team, he had seen all sorts of people—thugs, con artists, politicians—but he had never encountered someone like Ye Kai before.
He had been observing Ye Kai for a while now. The guy seemed clean-cut and tall, looking quite good overall.
But with this temperament... Hao Jian shook his head.
He was certainly not a suitable match for our lovely princess!
