Wei Chen was utterly confused. What on earth was going on?
"Senior, if there's anything I can do to help you, I would be more than happy to assist. Please feel free to let me know," Wei Chen said politely through his thoughts.
The Cunning Beast jumped down from the stone it was perched on and circled around Wei Chen, saying, "That's right, it's this aura. The independent space within you is different from the aura of the Witch Clan Continent."
"Senior, can something like this really be detected by smell?" Wei Chen thought to himself, recalling how the Cunning Beast looked just like a little dog sniffing for meat—there wasn't much difference.
The Cunning Beast chuckled, "It's not about smell; it's about sensing up close. I won't hide it any longer; I need you to take me out of here."
"Through my independent space?" In front of a being of such caliber as the Cunning Beast, Wei Chen didn't dare claim it was from the True God World.
"Exactly. I've been trapped in this secret realm for a long time—probably several million years. Back when the Witch Clan and Right Sage led people to the Divine Realm, your local Ancient Gods brought their powerful subordinates along with even stronger Outsider Demons, and it turned into a chaotic battle. As the Grand Lord of the Witch Beasts, appointed by the Witch King, I also went to the Divine Realm. That battle was fierce and chaotic, with countless powerful beings falling one after another. Our Beast Clan suffered heavy casualties; I was left as the only survivor, barely escaping through the turbulent flow of time and space. The Witch King imprisoned me here, unable to cross the passage. The Witch King wanted me dead but didn't want to do it himself, so he trapped me here, waiting for someone from the Witch Clan to come and seek my misfortune."
The Cunning Beast spoke at length, revealing its deep sorrow.
Wei Chen didn't know what to say and could only listen quietly. What the Cunning Beast told him reminded him of Sword Mountain. It seemed that every powerful being had an indelible painful memory behind them!
The Cunning Beast looked at Wei Chen with hope in its eyes and continued, "I cannot leave this place, but you can move freely. Although my strength is considerable, even with several million more years, I cannot break free from the Witch King's confinement. This is unavoidable; within the Beast Clan, the bloodline of the Witch King is incredibly powerful. No matter how hard we train, we can never reach the level of the Witch King. You understand this, right?"
Wei Chen nodded and said, "I understand. The gap in bloodlines is essentially irreversible; some are born noble while others are born lowly—who can explain that clearly?"
"Exactly. The gap in bloodlines is irreversible. The Witch Power within me has been nourished by this Purification Stone and has surpassed that of the Witch King. Yet still, I cannot leave this place; no matter how much more Witch Power I possess, I cannot break through."
The tone of the Cunning Beast was filled with lamentation—after all, do nobles and commoners really have a choice?
Wei Chen slightly nodded. He looked sincerely at the Cunning Beast and transmitted his thoughts: "Senior, since this is something that cannot be changed, all we can do is try our best. Although there are innate differences in bloodlines, your bloodline is still incredibly precious compared to those ordinary Witch Beasts. Everything is relative. I believe that nothing is impossible for those who are determined; as long as we give our all, there’s nothing we can't achieve. Do you believe that?"
Upon hearing this, the Cunning Beast laughed heartily: "Of course I believe it! The Witch King wants me dead but doesn't want to take action himself; he has kept me here all this time. I have never given up hope and finally waited for you."
"Senior, it is my honor to be able to help you," Wei Chen said as he deeply bowed to the Cunning Beast, showing utmost respect. Having such a powerful Witch Beast possibly following him in the future would be an immense boost! Wei Chen would definitely not pass up such a great opportunity; this was his chance to turn things around on the Witch Clan Continent.
The Cunning Beast indeed wanted to follow Wei Chen out, but the conditions for doing so needed to be discussed thoroughly. It understood well that one must bow their head under the eaves; if the terms were not clearly stated beforehand, any trouble that arose later would not be so simple to resolve.
The Cunning Beast said to Wei Chen, "Kid, meeting is fate. I appreciate that you can take me out into your independent space, but let's lay our cards on the table first. Once we are outside, we will part ways immediately. I will give you a certain compensation. What do you think?"
"Senior, since you've been so straightforward," Wei Chen replied with a grin, "may I dare to ask what kind of benefits you are offering?"
The Cunning Beast responded, "I can enhance your Witch Power, at least bringing you to the level of a First-Class Witch King. The Witch King realm among humans is really nothing much; in our Beast Clan, a Witch King is the pinnacle, the supreme authority."
To be honest, Wei Chen was tempted.
"A First-Class Witch King? That’s nearly the strength of a Golden Wolf! Achieving the Witch King realm so easily means I could return to the Endless Divine Realm and eliminate all obstacles in the Small Celestial Realm without any issues!"
A wild desire flickered in Wei Chen's eyes; however, he was not blinded by the Cunning Beast's promise. He knew well that such seemingly wonderful offers were often fraught with danger—there's no such thing as a free lunch in this world!
"I'm merely helping the Cunning Beast out of here without expending much effort, yet it offers me such great benefits. This matter is either extremely perilous or just an empty promise," Wei Chen thought to himself.
"Kid, have you thought it through?" Seeing that Wei Chen remained silent and did not agree, the Cunning Beast grew somewhat anxious.
Wei Chen smiled and said, "Senior, I want to know—this generous offer you're making requires only that I take you out? Surely there must be some hidden intricacies involved?"
The Cunning Beast circled around Wei Chen like a cheetah, appearing somewhat flustered. "There are no hidden intricacies... I mean it! So are you going to do it or not?"
"Senior, we are all reasonable people here; let’s not hide anything from each other. If I take you out and you regain your freedom, I will also gain significant benefits. This arrangement is advantageous for both of us. But the issue is that you're not being sincere. Wouldn't it be better if we were both straightforward?"
Wei Chen looked at the Cunning Beast with a somewhat strange smile. He understood deeply that such substantial benefits did not come easily; if it weren't fraught with danger, would the Cunning Beast be willing to offer such a deal?
Impossible.
Before doing anything or agreeing to anyone's requests, Wei Chen always practiced caution and deliberation. This was the foundation of how he had survived until now and grown stronger along the way. If he couldn't even manage this much, he would have died countless times already—did he still think he could reach the Witch Clan Continent?
Cunning Beast glanced deeply at Wei Chen but remained silent.
Wei Chen knew it was contemplating whether, after revealing the truth, he would still take the risk to help.
"Senior, just say it. Everyone's time is tight, and there's no point in dragging this out. Whatever it is, we can discuss it. Even if you have to threaten me to take you out without offering any benefits, I still have to agree," Wei Chen said, looking at Cunning Beast with a cheerful smile.
Cunning Beast felt a jolt in its heart. Seeing Wei Chen's expression made it inexplicably anxious, as if it had been seen through and exposed.
"This kid dares to say that, which means he's prepared to face death without any benefits or cooperation. How did Paralyze end up encountering such a monster?" Cunning Beast thought to itself.
After a long pause, Cunning Beast finally transmitted a message to Wei Chen: "Kid, taking me out involves considerable danger. Are you prepared for that?"
"I'm all ears," Wei Chen replied calmly.
Cunning Beast nodded and said, "Alright, I'll tell you the truth. If you take me out, our Witch Beast King will definitely fly into a rage. Once it finds out you were the one who helped me escape, you won't have good days ahead. To put it simply, it will send powerful Witch Beasts in human form to the Witch Clan World to hunt you down."
"And what about you?" Wei Chen asked.
"What about me? Heh heh, I have only one life. The Witch King won't be able to kill me without paying a bloody price," Cunning Beast replied.
Wei Chen hurriedly said, "Senior, that's a bit unfair! You're strong and not afraid of the assassins sent by the Witch King, but what about me? With my strength, wouldn't I just be instantly killed?"
"I'll help elevate you to the level of your human Witch King. You don't need to worry about that," Cunning Beast said lightly.
Wei Chen shook his head and replied, "That probably won't work. The human Witch King level won't be able to withstand the powerful assassins sent by the Witch King. If you escape on your own, I'm done for."
Cunning Beast looked at Wei Chen helplessly and thought to itself, "This kid is too damn cunning; he's not easy to deal with."
"Then tell me, what do you want?" In a moment of helplessness, the Cunning Beast decided to compromise, allowing Wei Chen to set the terms himself; it surely wouldn't be too much of a loss.
Wei Chen smiled and said, "I want you, Senior, to stay by my side. It doesn't have to be for long—just a thousand years will do. How does that sound?"
"A thousand years? Kid, is your request really that simple?" The Cunning Beast couldn't believe it. It thought that giving Wei Chen this opportunity would lead him to make some outrageous demands, at least something that would put it in a difficult position. How could it be this easy?
"That's right, just a thousand years. Of course, to ensure I have some self-defense capability, I need you to help me reach the Witch Saint Realm. That shouldn't be a problem, right?" Wei Chen recalled what the Golden Wolf had told him; the Golden Wolf was already at the first level of the Witch Saint Realm. By that calculation, having the Cunning Beast help him reach the Witch King level seemed a bit insufficient.
The Cunning Beast looked at him with an expression of disbelief and asked, "Kid, are you really foolish or just pretending?"
"Senior, what do you mean by that?" Wei Chen asked in confusion.
The Cunning Beast replied, "The Ninth Level Witch King is the peak I can help you achieve. Even if our Beast Clan's king were here, they could only reach this level through external assistance. The highest realm attainable through such means is the Ninth Level Witch King. As for becoming a Saint Witch, that requires personal effort and a great deal of luck. On the Witch Clan Continent, there may be thousands of Ninth Level Witch Kings, but Saint Witches are extremely rare."
"Thousands? That's so many!" Wei Chen was astonished. With so many Ninth Level Witch Kings around, didn't that mean they were not very valuable?
The Cunning Beast scoffed at Wei Chen and said, "Each of those thousands of Ninth Level Witch Kings is a ruler over countless Spatial Planes. However, there are no more than a hundred who have long resided on the Witch Clan Continent. As for the Witch Saint Realm, across the entire Witch Clan—including all its numerous Spatial Planes—there are no more than ten."
Wei Chen thought about it and realized that the Right Sage was considered one of the top figures in the Witch Clan. The Golden Wolf, being the strongest subordinate of the Right Sage, was only at the first level of Saint Witch. So indeed, it seemed that Saint Witches were quite rare after all.
