Gao Ling asked me, "What should we do?" I had no idea how to respond, so I remained silent. 0

That female ghost was fixated on me; if I didn’t let her rest, she wouldn’t let me rest either. Looking at the decaying corpse, I felt a shiver run down my spine. 0

What Zhao Fan did was truly despicable. 0

Suddenly, Gao Ling said to me, "Fei, this corpse isn’t ours to dig up; it shouldn’t concern us, right?" 0

I countered her, "What about you?" 0

It was around three or four in the morning. 0

A cool breeze swept through, but each gust sent chills down my spine. 0

My mind was consumed with thoughts about this corpse. How should I handle it? Should I bury it here, take it away, or find another solution? 0

I turned my head and glanced around. Taking a deep breath, I said to Gao Ling, "How about we take the corpse with us?" 0

I was seeking Gao Ling's opinion. 0

Gao Ling looked at me with wide eyes and said, "This isn’t our problem! It’s a matter of grievances; she should go after that bastard Zhao Fan." 0

I thought Gao Ling was being too naive. Damn it, that female ghost was already haunting me; there was no way this situation would develop in the direction Gao Ling hoped! 0

Sweat formed in my palms as I finally made a decision: I would take the corpse away and give it a proper burial. 0

I jumped into the grave pit. 0

Gao Ling exclaimed, "Are you really going to take it?" 0

I said, "Is there any doubt about it?" I pulled the corpse up, and damn it, the stench almost made me vomit. I held my breath and managed to throw the body over my shoulder. 0

Then I got into Gao Ling's car. 0

At this point, I couldn't care less. Gao Ling's face changed when he saw me load a rotting corpse into his vehicle, but he didn't say much. 0

So, I made a call to Zhao Fan. After exchanging a few words, Zhao Fan flatly denied everything and even cursed Gao Ling for slandering him. 0

Gao Ling was furious. I told him not to waste his breath on someone like that. 0

After hanging up, Gao Ling asked me, "Where are you taking the body?" 0

We exchanged glances, and I felt a wave of terror wash over us. With the urn on my back, it felt like my head was about to explode. 0

Where could I take the corpse? 0

Damn it, why were there so many troubles? My mind raced. 0

Finally, I settled on a place. Given the circumstances, I had no choice but to take the body to the funeral home. Even if it couldn't be buried right away, at least it could be stored in a freezer. 0

Once I figured that out, I decided not to dwell on it any longer. 0

Now that Old Wang and Zhang Xun were both in trouble, I couldn't worry about any agreements anymore. I told Gao Ling to head to the funeral home. 0

Gao Ling must have been there before. 0

He asked, "Are you planning to deal with the body there?" 0

When we arrived, if it weren't for this damn mess caused by Gao Ling, I wouldn't have had to risk coming back at all. 0

Around five o'clock, the car stopped at the entrance of the funeral home. 0

It wasn't fully bright yet, but there was already a hint of dim light. 0

Inside the funeral home, there was an eerie silence, devoid of any signs of life. 0

As the car came to a halt, Gao Ling asked, "Should I call my uncle?" I felt a bit anxious inside, but I agreed nonetheless. 0

After all, we didn't know what was going on, and confronting the situation might be the best approach for now. 0

However, Gao Ling called out several times without receiving a response. When he tried calling on the phone, it indicated that it was turned off. 0

I figured no one was around; the funeral home felt like a deserted zone, ominous and foreboding. Gao Ling remarked, "Fei, why do I feel like something's off here? Where are the people from the funeral home?" 0

His words reminded me that he was still unaware of what had happened at the funeral home. I snapped back to reality and replied, "Everyone's on holiday." 0

Gao Ling looked as if he had just realized something. 0

After glancing around a few times, I told Gao Ling, "You go get the body." 0

It was too quiet here; the silence had taken on a ghostly quality. Gao Ling hesitated and said, "Is it appropriate for me to go?" 0

Damn it, why was he still saying such things? I replied, "If you don't do it, then I'm not taking responsibility for this. You've been involved from start to finish." 0

After hearing this, Gao Ling relented and hurriedly shouldered the body to follow me inside. 0

I headed straight to the cold storage and placed the girl's body inside. The sight of her was too tragic; she should have been prepared and made up. But it seemed her fate was unfortunate—she had become a ghost even after death. 0

Gao Ling said, "Is it done now? I think we should leave." 0

I wanted to leave, of course, but the image of Zhang Xun squatting in front of a corpse, drinking its blood, lingered in my mind. I planned to verify whether Old Wang's words were true or false. 0

And was Zhang Xun really the most suitable scapegoat? If so, who was I supposed to die for? 0

Who wanted to harm me? 0

Was it Old Wang? 0

I had hardly seen Old Wang at all! And as for Zhang Xun, I had only met him once! Was it the fat guy? 0

No way, no way. 0

I said to Gao Ling, "I need to check the back mountain. The body hasn’t been dealt with yet; we can’t leave now." 0

Gao Ling asked, "Are you going to choose a burial site?" 0

I glanced at Gao Ling and fell silent, then headed toward the back mountain. 0

It gradually became brighter, making the path easier to see. Gao Ling stood still for a moment before hurriedly catching up with me. 0

We moved cautiously through the darkness toward the back mountain. 0

Upon reaching the back mountain, I arrived at the spot where Brother Li and the others had been buried. To my shock, I saw that the grave had indeed been dug up. But as I got closer, I was stunned—because all three corpses were charred beyond recognition. 0

At that moment, a faint smell of burnt flesh wafted through the air, and I finally couldn't hold back my nausea any longer. 0

Damn it, this was an attempt to destroy evidence! 0

I suddenly felt as if I was seeing a web, and I was walking step by step toward it, unaware of when this web would ensnare me. 0

Just then, Gao Ling let out a sudden scream. 0

I immediately reacted and asked, "What’s wrong?" 0

Gao Ling's voice was urgent as she pointed in a direction and shouted, "Look over there." 0

I turned my gaze toward where Gao Ling was pointing and saw a shadow. From a distance, it appeared somewhat plump. 0

I shouted, "Who are you?" 0

But there was no response; instead, the figure turned and ran away. I stood there in a daze for a moment before chasing after it. However, I lost track of the figure after only a short while. 0

Breathing heavily, I turned back. 0

Gao Ling was not far behind me, urging me to hurry over because she had found something. 0

I saw that Gao Ling was holding a black-and-white photograph in her hand, along with a disc. 0

Gao Ling said, "I didn’t expect you all to be so old-fashioned!" 0

I snatched the black-and-white photo from her hands, but soon my face turned pale with shock. 0

In the photo were five young people: one was Brother Li, another was a chubby guy, and there I was. To my surprise, Zhang Xun was also in it. 0

However, the person on the far left was unrecognizable. I was bewildered—when was this photo taken? How could I not remember it? 0

I flipped the photo over; on the blank back, several numbers were written in black ink: 198. 0

198... 0

What does this number mean? Could it be a year? Is this photo taken in 198? That’s impossible! Could this be some kind of trick? 0

But Zhang Xun is also in there! In the photo, Zhang Xun has a radiant smile on his face. 0

The background of this photo is a funeral home, but back then, the building was quite dilapidated. The place where we carried the body was relatively new. 0

I couldn't help but breathe heavily. My heart felt like it had sunk to the bottom of the sea... 0

What on earth is going on? 0

I recalled some details. That shadow I saw earlier... it seemed somewhat familiar. I had an answer in my mind, but I knew that answer was impossible. So I actively dismissed it... 0

The body... 0

Five people went to carry the body, four of them died, and I was the only one who survived... 0

This is a conspiracy! 0

Cold sweat broke out on my forehead, and just then, I received a phone call... 0
