Samuel stood at the edge of the altar, his mind taut to the brink of collapse. Everything happening around him felt overwhelmingly oppressive—the frenzied ramblings of Mocus, the tense atmosphere among the group, and the dark cave environment only heightened his already fragile nerves. His body itched incessantly, particularly on his back, as if something invisible were crawling beneath his skin, a sensation that was nearly unbearable. 0

Raymond stood beside him, yet Samuel felt no sense of safety. Even with the experienced mercenary nearby, his fear remained unrelieved. His hands gripped the tablet tightly, knuckles turning white as his gaze darted around, as if something terrifying might leap out from the shadows at any moment. 0

Suddenly, Samuel heard a voice echoing in his mind. It was deep and profoundly dark, as if it came from the depths of hell. The voice resembled some eerie whisper, soft yet ominous, gradually resonating in his mind as if it were surfacing from the depths of his soul. 0

“Samuel…” The voice gently called his name, laced with an indescribable allure and threat. “You cannot escape… The darkness here will consume everything… There is no chance of escape…” 0

Samuel's heart raced instantly, fear flooding through him like icy water. His expression turned increasingly terrified, as if the entire world had transformed into a nightmarish landscape in that moment. He looked around, but no one noticed his internal struggle; Raymond remained focused on the situation ahead, completely oblivious to Samuel's distress. 0

The voice grew clearer, whispering softly in his ear while swirling in the depths of his mind. “Do you feel it, Samuel? That itch… It flows through your blood, breeds within your bones… You cannot escape; it has found you…” 0

Samuel's breathing quickened as the itching sensation on his back intensified. He tried to scratch at it, but the feeling seemed to penetrate deep into his marrow; no matter how he clawed at it, relief eluded him. His sanity began to unravel as the voice echoed in his mind, gradually consuming his thoughts. 0

“Give up… You cannot resist… The darkness is endless; it will devour everything about you, no matter how you struggle…” 0

A profound terror gripped Samuel; his vision blurred as if the entire cave twisted around him. The deep voice seemed to pull at his soul, dragging him toward an abyss without end. In that moment, he was completely ensnared by this dark power, unable to break free. 0

Samuel's fear reached its peak as he desperately scanned his surroundings for a glimmer of safety, but the sights before him only quickened his heartbeat. The dark corners appeared as endless chasms, as if countless unseen eyes were coldly watching him, ready to pounce at any moment. He could feel those gazes—intangible yet omnipresent—like an invisible web trapping him in this fearful darkness. 0

He spun wildly, trying to locate those hidden eyes and voices lurking in the shadows, as if doing so could help him escape that chilling sensation. But no matter how he turned or how urgently he sought to flee, fear remained tightly coiled around him like a ghost in the dark, continuously whispering in his ear. 0

The voices began multiplying, surging from all directions and enveloping him. Each voice pierced softly yet maliciously into his ears, as if they were nightmares excavated from deep within him. These voices were low and eerie, carrying a mocking tone that toyed with his fears. 0

"You think you can escape, Samuel? From the moment you were born, you were destined to be consumed by fear..." a voice said coldly, dripping with disdain. 0

"Look at you, pathetic and trapped like a little mouse, too afraid to face reality, only able to panic in the darkness..." another voice mocked ominously, as if relishing his suffering. 0

"You have nothing, Samuel, always have... Do you really think you can change anything? You're just a coward, forever unable to confront true challenges..." The voice continued to linger in his ears, coiling around his soul like a venomous snake. 0

These voices seemed to stem from every shadowy moment of his life, from the unforgettable failures of his childhood to each powerless struggle in adulthood. They had begun accumulating from the very start of his existence, gradually building up the deepest fears and insecurities within him, now manifesting as whispering ghosts that ruthlessly shattered his will. 0

"You never belonged here... You're just a failure, a coward..." The voices grew stronger, exposing the dark side of his inner self without reservation, filling him with immense shame and pain. 0

Samuel's body began to tremble as he tightly gripped his head with both hands, trying to stop the voices from echoing in his mind. But that sense of helplessness crashed over him like relentless waves, completely drowning him. The whispers continued to tear at his soul, leaving him in unprecedented despair. 0

He could not escape the entanglement of these voices nor rid himself of the fear within. Each whisper felt like a sharp knife, mercilessly slicing through his spirit, gradually severing his self-esteem and courage until the fragility deep inside him was fully exposed to the darkness. 0

Under this overwhelming pressure, Samuel's mind finally shattered. His body shook uncontrollably, unable to support itself any longer. As the whispers grew increasingly piercing and aggressive, Samuel suddenly lost his balance and fell heavily to the ground. He clutched his head tightly with both hands, nails digging into his scalp as his eyes filled with helplessness and terror, as if the entire world was collapsing around him. 0

"Stop! Stop!" Samuel's voice was filled with desperation and fear as he screamed hoarsely, trying to break free from the endless whispers. However, these voices showed no signs of stopping; instead, they echoed more frantically in his mind as if they aimed to tear him apart completely. 0

Alison heard his cries and rushed over immediately. She knelt beside Samuel, trying to soothe him with a gentle voice: "Samuel, listen to me, calm down! You have to calm down!" Her hands rested softly on his shoulders, hoping to bring him back to reality. 0

Yet Samuel's gaze was vacant; his face contorted in agony as if he couldn't hear her at all. His body convulsed continuously as if pulled by some invisible force, unable to escape the fear within. His screams echoed throughout the cave, sending chills down one's spine. 0

"Please... stop! Don't say anymore!" Samuel's voice became hoarse, laden with intense pain and despair. His cries were filled with helplessness, like someone struggling for breath at the bottom of an abyss, desperately trying to grasp onto the last thread of hope. 0

Raymond stood to the side, his head lowered, a grim expression on his face as he coldly observed everything unfolding. His lips were tightly pressed together, and his fists clenched involuntarily, filled with an indescribable sense of oppression and anger. He had witnessed this scene too many times on the battlefield—when a soldier's spirit crumbled, they would often lose control, consumed entirely by fear, pain, or madness. 0

"Damn it... he's broken," Raymond muttered under his breath, his tone laced with helplessness and fury. He knew that Samuel had been completely engulfed by fear; in this state, he was nearly incapable of regaining his sanity. Raymond understood all too well that Samuel's condition posed a significant danger to the entire team, especially in a place fraught with unknown threats. 0

Allison's eyes were filled with anxiety and unease as she tried to comfort Samuel while frequently glancing back at Raymond and Jonas, hoping they could offer some assistance. However, such a mental breakdown could not be resolved simply through soothing words, particularly in an environment thick with darkness and fear. 0

Samuel's cries of despair echoed throughout the cave, his screams piercing the hearts of everyone present, sending a chilling sensation deep into their bones. In that moment, they all realized that the dark forces within the cave had begun to prey upon the weak among them, and this was only the beginning. 0
