Yet Kitagawa had managed to avoid both dangers and stood in a safe corner.
At that moment, Kitagawa realized that the pendant that had tempted him earlier must have concealed something sinister. As he retreated, he calculated his movements carefully to avoid entering that dangerous area. However, he dared not take another step back in any direction because the two individuals before him were adept at formations; he was certain there was a trap behind him meant to ensnare him.
"Li Ji, I never expected you would betray me!" Kitagawa Kai said as he continuously adjusted his fusion with the Shikigami, trying to buy time for their integration. He felt furious; if it weren't for Zhu Ganglie, his Shikigami wouldn't have been injured. If it hadn't been injured, he could have fused at any time without this delay.
"I'm sorry, Kitagawa-kun! The Steel Lord's mother is my benefactor." Li Ji held a short knife but bowed deeply with an apologetic demeanor. This was precisely what Xiao Yefeng disliked about women from Wa Country; in a life-and-death situation, why bother with such hypocritical formalities?

At that moment, it was Zhu Ganglie who broke the stalemate. A ghost appeared before him, and under Xiao Yefeng's Yin-Yang Eye, this ghost had nowhere to hide. Unlike Kitagawa's Shikigami, this entity was composed of vengeful spirits—a mass of tortured souls taking on an eye-like form, with dozens of suffering female spirits bound within it. To Xiao Yefeng's anger, among them were the vengeful spirits of the two girls he had saved; his heart ached painfully upon realizing they had not escaped their fate.
As his own Shikigami emerged, Zhu Ganglie closed the door behind him. The Monster Eye Shikigami hovered in midair as a dark ink-like Yin Qi connected to Zhu Ganglie's body. With a strange laugh, Zhu Ganglie pointed at one of the female vengeful spirits, which broke free from the Monster Eye's grasp and charged straight at Kitagawa Kai.
"Hmph! Zhu Ganglie, you underestimate me! Do you think your powerless Shikigami can harm me?" With that, Kitagawa Kai's Shikigami enveloped him as he swung his Battle Blade under its influence, shattering the incoming vengeful spirit.
"Shikigami possession! You've already obtained this secret scroll!" Li Ji exclaimed in shock as she saw the Shikigami attached to Kitagawa. Her face paled with fear as she turned to Yuan Xun. "Mr. Yuan! We cannot let Kitagawa escape! Otherwise, we're all doomed! Only designated Great Deity apprentices can cultivate Shikigami possession!"
"Heh heh! Even if you don't want to stop him, I won't let him go either! Whether it's his Shikigami or his ghost today, I won't spare him!" Yuan Xun charged at Kitagawa while slapping a Yellow Talisman onto his chest and shouted as he rushed forward, "Golden Armor Talisman!"

“What a pathetic talisman from Huaxia! My Eastern Japan techniques are far superior!” With the advantage in hand, Kitagawa unleashed a series of blade strikes that compelled Yuan Xun to retreat.
Yet amidst their battle, they overlooked Li Ji, who had been muttering something under his breath. As Yuan Xun fell back, Li Ji suddenly charged at the pursuing Kitagawa. Even while chanting spells, Li Ji wielded two short blades with lethal precision, forcing Kitagawa into a defensive stance. Xiao Yefeng sensed a significant change after Kitagawa engaged with Li Ji; it was as if he could barely breathe, struggling to maintain composure in the fight.

Kitagawa exposed a flaw, and Li Ji swung a blade but missed. However, Kitagawa was already prepared and kicked Li Ji in the abdomen, sending him flying several meters away!
In that instant, Zhu Ganglie's Monster Eye Shikigami sprang into action again. All remaining Vengeful Spirits lunged at Kitagawa simultaneously. Kitagawa boasted recklessly but failed to notice Zhu Ganglie and Yuan Xun grinning maliciously at him. Realizing this, Kitagawa asked, “What are you two defeated foes laughing about?”
“Hmph! You think I only have this little ability? Let me tell you; I disdain getting my hands dirty. Just look at yourself standing there!” Yuan Xun retorted.
At that moment, Kitagawa was startled and quickly backflipped two steps in retreat. However, after rolling backward, he realized he had fallen into a trap! He hadn’t been standing within the range of the pendant earlier; it was only upon retreating that he entered the formation’s area. Now sixteen uniquely inscribed Yellow Talismans spun around him like a whirlwind, while his Yin Soul and Shikigami were completely suppressed within the formation.
The Shikigami could only hide within its own body, too afraid to reveal itself. The Battle Blade in hand was unable to cut through the swirling talismans; each time it slashed at a Yellow Talisman, the talismans would retreat two steps, avoiding the Blade.
Kitagawa felt dizzy from the spinning Yellow Talismans and, in a daze, let go of his only weapon. He stood there foolishly, staring blankly at everything around him. At that moment, Xiao Yefeng noticed the peculiar formation. Centered around Kitagawa's feet were sixteen fine lines connecting sixteen Yellow Talismans, which coiled around him like a giant serpent.
However, when the Yin-Yang Eye was removed, it revealed Kitagawa acting like a madman—first swinging the Battle Blade wildly and then dropping it to stand there like a fool. The sixteen Yellow Talismans formed a perfect circle right beneath him, with Kitagawa standing on the spot where a burned Yellow Talisman had been.
But with the Yin-Yang Eye open, Xiao Yefeng saw a woman dressed in a transparent kimono and wearing a light veil standing atop the serpent's head. She twisted her delicate body as her transparent garments flew off one by one. To everyone's astonishment, Li Ji rode on swarms of flying insects that approached the dazed Kitagawa, exhaling sweetly. The insects danced around her, releasing waves of Azure Smoke that Kitagawa inhaled.
Under Li Ji's teasing, Kitagawa's clothes gradually came off, revealing a tattoo of Shikigami entwined in chains that seemed ready to hang the Battle Blade. Zhu Ganglie was excited to see the tattoo exposed and wanted to approach but was stopped by Yuan Xun.
"Don't move! Li Ji's Illusion Array is at its most critical point. If we disturb Kitagawa now and he wakes up, my Serpent Formation and Li Ji's Lustful Illusion Formation will both fail. If that happens, not only will you not get your Shikigami out, but everything will be ruined!" Yuan Xun warned.
Hearing Yuan Xun's words, Zhu Ganglie suppressed his excitement and stood still, watching Kitagawa sway back and forth. In the Lustful Illusion Formation, Kitagawa was on the verge of collapse from Li Ji's provocations. Just then, after Li Ji gently kissed Kitagawa's body within the Illusion Array, he could no longer hold back; his eyes widened in rage as Xiao Yefeng realized he was about to lose control.

His position was just out of sight; the iron chain flew out from the shadows unnoticed by everyone else. As it approached, Li Ji sensed danger looming behind her.
This was a crucial moment; if she didn't evade Kitagawa now, she would lose Yuan Yang! With her physical form compromised, Shikigami would surely escape. The plan would succeed, her mission would end, and she would be free from her debts. However, not dodging meant death; if Kitagawa released Yuan Yang in that instant, her head would be struck by the iron chain. From its sound alone, she knew it wouldn't be gentle; one hit could easily end her life.
Seeing that neither Zhu Ganglie nor Yuan Xun seemed capable of shielding her from harm, Li Ji's mind raced as her desire for survival led her to choose to sidestep at the last moment.
