Zitong was truly remarkable; by the age of three, he could recognize a thousand characters, by four, he could recite Tang poetry, and by five, he had read the Four Books and Five Classics. However, just when everyone in the family believed they had a future scholar on their hands, Zitong fell gravely ill and passed away on his fifth birthday, taking with him the joy of the entire family.
Reflecting on Zitong brings a tinge of sadness. At that time, he was too young to understand anything; now, he comprehends a little more, yet still retains a childlike heart. Through Zitong's words, Xiao Yefeng realizes that his death was linked to the Soul Banner.
Originally, the Soul Banner belonged to a wandering and destitute Taoist priest. As the saying goes, a monk is good at chanting scriptures. Such wandering Taoists were rare in those days, so Zitong's parents invited this old priest to tell Zitong's fortune.
Little did they know that this priest was actually a practitioner of the Demonic Path. Upon discovering that Zitong possessed a spirit body with harmful intentions, he gifted Zitong's parents the materials needed to create the Soul Banner. Afterward, the old priest vanished, leaving Zitong to install it himself and place it at his bedside.
Seeing the old priest wield magic made the family believe wholeheartedly. Once Zitong completed the Soul Banner, it was placed at his bedside. Within a hundred days, Zitong's life ended in the Underworld. The Soul Banner at his bedside took him away, and soon after, the old priest returned to dig up Zitong's corpse and stole the Soul Banner. The Soul Banner that trapped Zitong became just that—a Soul Banner. What else the old priest did remains unknown to Zitong; all he knows is that he spent countless years within this banner.
Fortunately, with the birth of New Huaxia, many ancient texts were destroyed—whether righteous or evil, most were burned. This spared Zitong from being exploited again through the Soul Banner. Who would have thought that under what circumstances this Soul Banner ended up in Yuan Xun's hands? It’s likely that Yuan Xun also used this Soul Banner for nefarious deeds.
Now that the Black Gold Spirit Banner is in Xiao Yefeng's possession, Zitong has finally fallen into good hands. Realizing that he can no longer stay here as his flight is approaching, Xiao Yefeng quickly stows away the Black Gold Spirit Banner in his backpack and heads for the airport.
At this point, Xiao Yefeng has essentially resolved Zhang Chuanhai's issue. Now all he needs to do is set up an altar and invite Yin Chai to send Zhang Chuanhai off to Reincarnation. However, Zhang Chuanhai wishes to check on Jin Ling’s condition first.
For this infatuated man, Xiao Yefeng has no words; after all, they are traveling together. In truth, Xiao Yefeng feels no pity for this woman at all. Regardless of whether Jin Ling approached Zhang Chuanhai with ulterior motives or not, Xiao Yefeng is certain that she is one of the main culprits behind Zhang Chuanhai’s tragic demise. While Yuan Xun is undoubtedly the mastermind, without Jin Ling’s assistance, how could Zhang Chuanhai—a robust man in his eighties—suddenly fall ill and never recover?
For someone so heartless and ungrateful as her, if it were several years ago, Xiao Yefeng would have had no hesitation in taking action against her. However, now he understands what it means for good and evil to be rewarded accordingly; his once fiery impulsiveness has been tempered significantly.
Now Jin Ling faces her own retribution for causing Zhang Chuanhai to suffer and die in agony; she herself has become a vegetable. Perhaps this is also a form of karmic retribution! Both Xiao Yefeng and Zhang Chuanhai have their own thoughts about this situation. At this moment of vengeance fulfilled for Zhang Chuanhai—now that Yuan Xun has fallen into the hands of the Metaphysics Society—Xiao Yefeng believes Yuan Xun will have significant value for exploitation. Whether Yuan Xun will be executed by the Metaphysics Society remains unknown to Xiao Yefeng; however, it certainly won’t be easy for him.
As for Jin Ling, Zhang Chuanhai always regarded her as his fiancée. At this moment, Xiao Yefeng can feel Zhang Chuanhai wandering restlessly within his Spirit Platform; there’s no mistaking that hint of worry. Sitting on the plane, Xiao Yefeng even feels a pang of regret for Jin Ling—a vibrant woman who has manipulated such a deeply loving man into harm’s way.
This makes Xiao Yefeng acutely aware of how unpredictable life can be. After pondering over it for some time, he dozes off again and wakes up just as they are about to reach their destination. Wanda Township is an incredibly beautiful place frequented by tourists from all over the country; however, nestled among these towering mountains lies an ancient village like a nail driven into its rugged surroundings.
This is the most peculiar village in Wanda Township, Holy Spirit Village! Discovered by a Practitioner over a decade ago during a travel expedition, it was subsequently regulated by the government. However, even with the arrival of new civilization, no one in the village was willing to leave the deep mountains. A series of bizarre and supernatural murders, however, drew the attention of the Metaphysics Society to this eerie village.
Initially, three backpackers heard rumors of treasures in Holy Spirit Village and decided to visit. Guided by an Earth Dweller, they were taken deep into the mountains to a ravine known as Fierce God Gorge. Tragically, one died, one was injured, and one went insane!
The Metaphysics Society intervened and dispatched a second-stage Geomancer named Mingjing to investigate. Unfortunately, upon entering Fierce God Gorge, he collapsed at the entrance of the ravine. Thus began a series of investigations by two more Geomancers, both of whom fainted inside the gorge just like the first. After being rescued by an Earth Dweller and sent to the hospital, it was discovered that all three had become vegetative.
In medical terms, "vegetative state" refers to ordinary people; however, among Geomancers, it signifies soul loss! Feng Shui Techniques document numerous methods that can lead to soul loss, effectively turning someone into a vegetative state. These methods often involve nefarious practices that can quickly drain others' souls.
Xiao Yefeng uncovered information indicating that on the night Yuan Xun was captured, a woman named Jin Ling walked towards Fierce God Gorge like a marionette, her body seemingly out of her control while she continuously cried for help. This puzzled the Earth Dweller; remarkably, Jin Ling managed to travel farther into the gorge than even a Peak of Bright Strength Geomancer.
As for why Fierce God Gorge did not harm the Earth Dweller or the villagers of Holy Spirit Village, it was because they were protected by their ancestors. In contrast, these Outsiders had their souls absorbed by the malevolent spirits within the gorge, leaving them in a state of unconsciousness.
While recalling this information, Xiao Yefeng arrived at the hospital in Wanda Township. After presenting his credentials, he was greeted by Lin Mighty Tiger, an outer member of the Metaphysics Society who was stationed there to care for the three Geomancers.
"Master Xiao! Hello! I am Lin Mighty Tiger! An outer member of the Metaphysics Society!" A rugged man with a wild name looked at Xiao Yefeng with admiration in his eyes.
Lin Mighty Tiger was thirty-one years old. Despite his imposing name, he possessed a certain elegance about him. Standing around six feet tall with a well-proportioned physique, Xiao Yefeng could sense great explosive strength during their handshake. What puzzled him most was that this man always wore a smile; his eyes were filled with exhaustion yet could not hide their brilliance!
"Brother Lin, please don't call me Master; just call me Feng!" After sizing up Lin Mighty Tiger, Xiao Yefeng replied.
"How can that be? A master deserves respect!" Lin Mighty Tiger chuckled heartily.
"Brother Lin! Let's set that aside for now. You look exhausted; with your Martial Arts Cultivation level, you shouldn't be like this!" Not wanting to dwell on this issue any longer, Xiao Yefeng changed the subject directly.
"Oh! Here's what happened," Lin Mighty Tiger explained everything to Xiao Yefeng.
According to Lin Mighty Tiger, the situation here was already quite strange. As he introduced the scene, he pulled back all the white curtains, revealing a large ward, the kind typically found in hospitals, with ten beds. However, six patients were already lying on those beds.
The first three beds were occupied by three members of the Metaphysics Society, all Geomancers. At that moment, these three Geomancers looked haggard, with a swirling mass of dark energy in the center of their brows. Through Xiao Yefeng's Golden Cyan Yin-Yang Eye, he could see their life force and vitality gradually depleting. Although each of them had their own cultivation to resist it, the loss of vitality was unavoidable.
Behind them was a woman familiar to Xiao Yefeng and who caused Zhang Chuanhai to weep uncontrollably. This woman was clearly Jin Ling. At this moment, Jin Ling looked even worse than the two men behind her. Her once beautiful face was now marred with spots; if she had been stunning before, she was now shocking—terrifyingly so.
Zhang Chuanhai uncontrollably floated out from Xiao Yefeng's Spirit Platform. Xiao Yefeng was currently examining the two men behind Jin Ling, the ones who had initially discovered Fierce God Gorge.
Like the three Geomancers, these two men also had dark energy swirling in their brows. However, as ordinary people, they were now on the brink of death, relying on medical equipment like ventilators to sustain their lives.
Clearly, these two would not last more than a couple of hours before their vitality extinguished. The three Geomancers were not faring much better; their spiritual energy was about to be depleted as well. Once their spiritual energy vanished, they would follow in the footsteps of the two men. While checking on everyone's condition, Xiao Yefeng did not notice Zhang Chuanhai's departure.
At that moment, mirrors at the four corners of the room suddenly flipped over. A string of coins hidden behind a chandelier dropped down. Under the light's reflection, the coins shimmered as they scattered across the room. At that instant, Zhang Chuanhai was locked onto by countless beams of light and forcibly pulled into view.
Zhang Chuanhai's sudden appearance startled Lin Mighty Tiger. His eyes narrowed coldly as he said, "You have some nerve! How dare you appear here? Today, I will make your soul scatter!"
With that, Lin Mighty Tiger drew two Yellow Talismans from his robe—one in each hand—and transformed into a fierce tiger as he lunged at Zhang Chuanhai. Caught off guard by this sudden attack, Zhang Chuanhai instinctively reacted; however, his ghostly nature compelled him to protect himself. Seeing Lin Mighty Tiger's fists coming at him, Zhang Chuanhai remained unfazed. Ghost Mist surged around him, cloaking his body and allowing him to evade the light from the coins. He then tilted his iron chain spear in preparation for battle as it seemed a confrontation between man and ghost was imminent.
