At this moment, although Uchi had been reborn, he found himself completely immobilized. Watching Sun Wulang in such a disheveled state brought him unexpected joy. It was ironic that Sun Wulang had forced him to abandon his Reincarnation and become a corpse puppet, yet now, as a Zombie, he was unable to move. Seeing Sun Wulang being compelled to use the long-preserved Evil Ghost General made Uchi want to cheer for the person he had captured.
However, as a corpse puppet turned Zombie, he had lost all human abilities, including speech. He had no heartbeat, no pulse—nothing at all. The only thing he retained was thought, which was a result of the Corpse Control Technique cursing him; otherwise, a Zombie would have no thoughts and could only obey the Sorcerer's commands. In this sense, Uchi was managing to control himself.
It was precisely because of this that he remained undetected in the Bamboo House, shrouded in Eerie Energy. Uchi was not surprised by Sun Wulang's abilities; what truly astonished him was the person he had intended to use as a sacrifice. To his shock, this individual turned out to be someone extraordinary.
Uchi had transformed from a warrior into an observer. The Eerie Energy swirling within the Bamboo House had thickened to an unbearable degree, and the bright moon above was obscured by dark clouds, creating an ominous atmosphere. At that moment, the Black Soul Banner finally flickered with light, and a man clad in armor wielding a large blade emerged from the Black Banner, glancing back at the slumped Sun Wulang.
"Ha ha, Daoist! What's wrong? Didn't you say you'd never let me out?" the male ghost laughed as he looked at Sun Wulang.
"Wang San! Help me kill this brat who ambushed me, and I'll let you go!" Sun Wulang said after swallowing a pill.
"Sure thing!" With that, Wang San swung his blade down on Uchi, who was hiding in the corner, severing his neck. Yet to Xiao Yefeng and Sun Wulang's astonishment, Uchi remained wide-eyed as he witnessed it all.
"You... you're not dead?" Sun Wulang pointed at the rolling head in disbelief.
Uchi couldn't speak, but Wang San remarked, "Tsk tsk! It's been ages since I've seen a Zombie—just a Jumping Zombie at that. What a pity; who broke your legs?"
"Jumping Zombie? How is that possible? He died long ago! No one could have cursed Uchi into becoming one!" Sun Wulang stared in shock at Uchi's head. However, their conversation was cut short as Wang San devoured Uchi's soul.
With his soul consumed, Uchi finally closed his eyes and ceased to exist. Even reincarnation would no longer be an option for him; as a soul, he had been absorbed and transformed into power.
At that moment, after absorbing Uchi's soul, Wang San's ghostly eyes narrowed with murderous intent directed at Sun Wulang. Feeling Wang San's gaze pierce through him sent chills down Sun Wulang's spine. He shook the Black Banner in his hand and declared, "Wang San! Await orders!"
But Wang San gritted his teeth and swung his Ghost Head Blade. A wave of Eerie Energy swept through the air as Sun Wulang raised the Black Banner to block it. There was a sharp crack as the Black Banner split in two; its Soul Banner fell like tattered rags from above. Wang San unleashed his fury with the Ghost Head Blade, transforming Eerie Energy into a meat grinder that shredded the remnants of the Black Banner into strips of cloth that rained down.
"You!" Sun Wulang realized his last trump card had been destroyed. With no time left to waste, he turned to flee. However, just as he did so, Wang San's Ghost Head Blade pierced through his chest. Ghosts and humans were typically unrelated beings; however, in this case—where an Evil Spirit understood cultivation—it was different. The blade emerged from his body as if time had frozen around him.
Wang San said coldly, "Daoist, everything happening today is your own doing!" With that, he withdrew the Ghost Head Blade. Sun Wulang collapsed to the ground without any visible wounds on his body; however, his ghostly form floated eerily in mid-air—a sight Xiao Yefeng had never witnessed before.
Soon after, Sun Wulang's ghostly body was consumed by Wang San's Ghost Head Blade. Finally turning his attention toward Xiao Yefeng, Wang San declared, "Stop hiding! I know you're on the roof. I don't know why I can't lock onto you, but I know you're there!"
With a sweep of the Ghost Head Blade in hand, a chilling Eerie Energy shot towards Xiao Yefeng. At that moment, Xiao Yefeng silently recited the Heart Decision, unleashing a Psychic Blade that shattered the incoming Eerie Energy. He then flipped down from the beam above.
"Who are you?"
"And who are you?"
Both the man and the spirit questioned each other. At this time, a hint of blood-red seeped through the black Eerie Energy surrounding Wang San. Suddenly, Xiao Yefeng recalled his memories regarding spirits; there were many types of spirits, and the red glow within the Eerie Energy indicated that this spirit was an Evil Spirit. This meant that in life, this spirit had been a ruthless killer, showing no remorse throughout its existence.
Thus, after death, the malevolent aura allowed it to bypass the absorption of Earthly Evil, granting this Evil Spirit the ability to devour souls and advance in power. Xiao Yefeng had not even noticed when it consumed Uchi and Sun Wulang's souls.
"Evil Spirit!" Xiao Yefeng said as he looked at Wang San.
"Wow, impressive! You recognized my Evil Spirit at a glance!" Wang San replied.
"How about this? I see we have no past grievances. Why don't we let each other go? There's an old saying in our culture: 'Leave a line for future encounters!'" Wang San was unsure of Xiao Yefeng's strength after witnessing his earlier display of power with the Eerie Energy. Realizing that it was better to avoid conflict, Wang San decided to back down. After all, he had just escaped from the suppression of the Black Banner and did not want to offend a Geomancer.
However, just as Xiao Yefeng was about to respond, the Cheap Brother who had previously subdued Zhang Chuanhai spoke up again from within the Spirit Platform. The golden light reappeared and addressed Xiao Yefeng: "Brother! I already know about Zhang Chuanhai's situation and have informed him of the details. But you need to capture Wang San; he is a true Evil Spirit responsible for the deaths of one hundred seventy people. If you catch him, I will reduce your sins by one hundred seventy!"
"Is that true?" Xiao Yefeng's eyes sparkled with excitement, startling Wang San, who wondered if Xiao Yefeng had some peculiar obsession.
"Of course! You are the one I've chosen. Tsk tsk tsk, having someone like you in the Xiao Family really gives me a headache! I've already paved the way for you; help me capture this heinous Evil Spirit, and I'll reduce your sins accordingly!" The man's voice echoed from within the golden light.
"Alright! But how many sins do I have?" Xiao Yefeng asked.
"Hmph! More than you can count. Just go ahead; once you capture any wandering souls or ghosts, bring them into the Spirit Platform and I'll handle it for you! Now I'm busy; this is your first mission—don't mess it up!" With that, the golden light vanished.
At that moment, Xiao Yefeng noticed a special sealed Spirit Talisman appearing within his Spirit Platform, accompanied by a palm-sized door. A large rune was engraved on the doorframe. Although he didn't know what it was, Xiao Yefeng felt as if his fortunes were beginning to change. Inside the Spirit Platform, Zhang Chuanhai said: "Wind, this talisman is meant for capturing Wang San."
"Oh?" Upon hearing this, Xiao Yefeng reached out to touch the Spirit Talisman within his Spirit Platform. The instant his finger made contact, he suddenly found himself back in his body, and to his astonishment, a Yellow Talisman Paper appeared out of thin air behind him.
At this moment, Xiao Yefeng was also quite surprised. Holding the talisman in his hand, he discovered that it was completely blank, just an empty piece of paper. The sight of Xiao Yefeng taking out the talisman startled Wang San, who immediately brandished his Ghost Head Blade and glared at Xiao Yefeng, saying, "Kid, don't push your luck. I can take you on; what do you need that talisman for?"
"Hehehe! It seems like our business deal has fallen through. I have a big job for you!" Xiao Yefeng said, unable to suppress his laughter.
"Kid, don't play tricks on me. You’re a Geomancer and I’m an Evil Spirit; what business could we possibly have?" Wang San replied cautiously.
"Hehe, of course there is! I hope you, the Evil Spirit carrying the lives of one hundred seventy people, can help me lighten my burden!" Xiao Yefeng said with a grin.
"How do you know that?" Wang San exclaimed in shock. He swung his Ghost Head Blade, sending a chilling blade toward Xiao Yefeng, then turned to flee. Wang San realized that this kid knew his secrets; clearly, he possessed some kind of supernatural ability to know so much.
"Running away?" After dodging the blade, Xiao Yefeng quickly pursued the fleeing Wang San.
"Scoundrel! Since you're already dead, you should go report to Yin Si! Binding Spell!" While chasing, Xiao Yefeng formed a hand sign and struck out with a palm. An invisible shackle shot out like a thrown lasso and ensnared Wang San.
Suddenly bound, Wang San let out an angry roar. He swung his Ghost Head Blade to sever Xiao Yefeng's talisman. However, this momentary pause allowed Xiao Yefeng to catch up to him. At this point, Xiao Yefeng stood right in front of him. Wang San's expression turned cold as he raised his Ghost Head Blade menacingly and warned, "Kid, don’t push your luck!"
Xiao Yefeng scratched his ear and replied, "For both personal and public reasons, I cannot let you go as an Evil Spirit!"
Seeing that negotiation was no longer possible, Wang San was not one to hesitate. Having committed countless wrongdoings throughout his life and becoming a king in death, he could no longer tolerate being belittled. His armor materialized around his Ghost Body. Facing the Geomancer, even as a Demon General above Earthbound Spirits, Wang San did not dare to relax; after all, Geomancers were born to capture Evil Spirits.
