However, this was merely an illusion in an instant, for at that moment, the Gu Poison had already activated due to the failure of the curses and spells. The Gu Poison was a tangible entity, and within the limbs and bones of the two children, strands of the Silver Silkworm Curse were awakening. Once fully awakened, they would gnaw at the children's veins and flesh, ultimately leaving them as mere mummified corpses.
At this moment, it was time for Feng Chuxun, who had been observing all along, to take action. All the Silver Silkworm Curses needed to be activated in order to be expelled. What surprised Xiao Yefeng was that Feng Chuxun did not open the most exquisite jade jar but instead carefully opened a Clay Pot. A translucent creature, resembling jade, emerged—a Jade Larva. As soon as it appeared, it leaped onto Feng Chuxun's palm.
Xiao Yefeng watched in astonishment as the Spotted Python that had been coiling around Feng Chuxun was frightened away by this larva, which was only as thick as a thumb and a little over an inch long. The Spotted Python coiled itself into a defensive position, tucking its head away and refusing to even glance at the jade creature.
Moreover, Xiao Yefeng heard rustling sounds coming from the other three jars; these were the sounds of insects stirring. Since Feng Chuxun was skilled in dispelling Gu Poison, it naturally indicated that she was also adept at raising Gu. Therefore, the other jars must contain various types of Gu. However, upon the emergence of this larva, all the Gu Worms trembled; this must be Feng Chuxun's Jade Silkworm!
Xiao Yefeng recalled information about the Jade Silkworm from his memory. It was said that the Jade Silkworm was originally known as Jade Silkworm Gu and was considered a king among insect Gu. It was also extremely difficult to raise; only women with pure hearts could nurture it. Any slight deviation would lead to its demise. Thus, those who could raise Jade Silkworms were undoubtedly pure-hearted sorcerers who would not fall from grace.
At this moment, under Feng Chuxun's guidance, the Jade Silkworm crawled onto the sickbed where the two children lay naked, their covers having been thrown aside. The areas where the Silver Silkworm Curses had activated were bulging with lumps. However, upon the appearance of the Jade Silkworm, all those lumps ceased their writhing as if trembling before their king. At that moment, Feng Chuxun let out a crisp whistle.
The Jade Silkworm seemed to receive a command and began to crawl its plump body towards each child's left and right hands respectively, biting into their wounds and starting to suck voraciously. After taking a few sips from Huang Ziqiang's left hand, it moved on to Nie Xing's right hand. Clearly fatigued after sucking several times from both children's wounds, the lumps on their bodies gradually diminished.
Finally, after extracting the last Silver Silkworm Curse from Huang Ziqiang's body, the Jade Silkworm lay exhausted on the pristine white sheets. At this point, Feng Chuxun carefully placed the Jade Silkworm back into the Clay Pot and let out a long sigh of relief; everything had gone surprisingly smoothly. All issues within the two children had been resolved without any wandering spirits or ghosts attacking under Zhao Yin Gate's protection—it seemed everything was going exceptionally well.
Now that both children's bodies were no longer problematic, all that remained was for their two souls and seven spirits to return to their rightful places. Yet Xiao Yefeng furrowed his brow; something felt off despite how smoothly things were progressing. Just then, Li Xiangjun picked up both children's Soul Flags and activated them with True Spiritual Power. Instantly, both Soul Flags soared into the air.
With a snap, both Soul Flags pierced into the ceiling above each child's head. The flag surfaces hung downwards without wind and under Yin-Yang Eye’s influence; two streams of light shot directly into the children's bodies. At this moment, the main souls trapped within the Soul Flags returned to their places; however, there was still no sign of any untainted soul or spirit around.
This was now a critical moment; regardless of what intentions those from the new faction had, tonight marked their final step after all their efforts thus far. To do nothing now would mean giving up? Did they not want to save these two children either?
Everyone in the room began to feel anxious. If those from the new faction truly intended to act against them like this, then those from Metaphysics Society would have no way to intervene—they could only watch helplessly as both children exhausted their strength and died without any chance of reincarnation.
Time passed second by second, and before long, Midnight had arrived. The night was already half over, and the Yin Qi had completely vanished. In just a few minutes, the last remnants of Yin Qi would disappear, giving way to the emergence of Yang energy as day transitioned into night. At that moment, Jiang Xing suddenly stood up and exclaimed, "Oh no! We've fallen into a trap!"
As soon as he spoke, Jiang Xing opened the door. Outside, there was no longer a hospital corridor; instead, they found themselves amidst a desolate ruin filled with Snakes, Insects, Mice, and Ants. Surrounding the ruins were four distinct Battle Flags of various colors.
The four flags were the Four Vertical Yellow Flags, while the Eight-Sided Battle Flags displayed a variety of colors. The four Apricot Yellow Flags occupied the four corners of the east, west, south, and north. The Eight-Sided Battle Flags included Blue Flags in the Kan Position, Black Flags in the Zhenwei position, Green Flags in the Wind Position, Red Flags in the Li Position, Yellow Flags in the Kun Position, and White Flags in the Duiwei position. Together, these Eight-Sided Battle Flags enveloped the ruins.
Everyone in the room was stunned. Who possessed such power to deploy this Illusion Array right under the noses of three Masters of Hidden Strength and four Peak of Bright Strength? It was clear that they had been thoroughly outmaneuvered; entering this room had been stepping into a trap. The Four Symbols Eight Trigrams Formation could not have been set up overnight. Most importantly, this formation could not be moved; it meant that this trap had been prepared long ago, just waiting for them to jump in.
If it weren't for Xiao Yefeng's Zhao Yin Gate shielding the entire ward and isolating them from the influence of the Four Symbols Eight Trigrams Formation, they would have already faced countless ambushes by now. This was easily explained: only where Zhao Yin Gate's light reached remained unchanged; in other words, amidst endless ruins, only this brightly lit ward remained.
Inside the ward under Zhao Yin Gate's protection, everything seemed normal. However, stepping outside would unleash a chilling wind that sliced through like a bone-cutting knife. No one could have anticipated that members of this new force would be so bold as to lay an ambush right within their hospital room.
At that moment, Cao Man was extremely furious. His fists were like sandbags filled with surging inner energy. Standing at the door of the ward, he threw a punch that released his inner energy directly against the chilling wind outside. A ghostly figure instantly appeared as Cao Man struck out without hesitation, sending it reeling with a single kick.
Seeing the surrounding scene unfold, Jiang Xing turned back to pull Cao Man and said to everyone in the room, "We've been set up. The illusion here is real; in other words, we've been dragged into the Underworld. I won't go into details about why—just remember that injuries here mean injuries to your true self and death means actual death. However, this Four Symbols Eight Trigrams Formation has a time limit. As long as we stay here and Zhao Yin Gate remains intact until dawn breaks at five o'clock, we can use Crow Crows' power to shatter this illusion."
"That's true," Li Xiangjun added. "But I don't think those from the new force will let us hold out until dawn!"
Just then, Jiang Xing pointed outward with his hand. A beam of Purple Thunder Spirit Energy shot out from his finger and struck a figure clad in Chain Mail wielding a spear; this Evil Spirit caught Jiang Xing's attack with its weapon.
"Impressive! President Jiang! It's been a while! Your Purple Thunder Finger has become even more refined!" The Demon General remarked as he flicked off the Purple Lightning energy from his spear after neutralizing it.
"Zheng Chen! Why are you still serving them? If I recall correctly, you should have returned to Yin Si three years ago!" Jiang Xing said after glancing at the Evil Spirit.
"What's so great about reincarnation! I'd rather be a formidable ghost like the Chuqing Overlord!" At that moment, the Evil Spirit Zheng Chen sneered.
"Who is Zheng Chen?" Xiao Yefeng asked, puzzled.
Just then, Li Xiangjun spoke up to explain to Xiao Yefeng, though it wasn't much of an explanation; she was merely conversing with Zheng Chen. Li Xiangjun said, "Brother Zheng, back in the day you were also an elder of the Metaphysics Society. Why won't you reincarnate after death? If this continues, you'll lose your chance to be reborn!"
"You’re still around! Enough of that. Jiang Xing took my position as President; I can't let that slide! Jiang Xing, come out! With Zhao Yin Gate backing you, how can you even show your face?" Zheng Chen declared.
Jiang Xing shook his head and replied, "Brother Zheng! I've explained this before. You were too obsessed with fighting back then; it wasn't good for Huaxia, especially since it had just been established. This was not the time for conflict. Why don't you believe me?"
"Stop the nonsense. Come out! If you win against me, I'll obediently accept punishment in Yin Si; if you lose, you go reincarnate!" With that, Zheng Chen thrust his spear into the open door, aiming to attack Jiang Xing. At that moment, Xiao Yefeng couldn't bear to watch. The Zhao Yin Gate shifted, and the door rushed toward Zheng Chen. With a creak, a corner of the Zhao Yin Gate opened, and an invisible force pulled Zheng Chen's spear into the room, inevitably drawing him in as well.
Zheng Chen was seasoned in battle; he forced his Eerie Energy into the spear tip and struck the ground. His Ghost Body instantly shifted position, allowing him to quickly retreat from the doorway. He looked at Xiao Yefeng, who was bracing against the Zhao Yin Gate, astonished. However, just because Zheng Chen could evade didn't mean others could; at least a dozen ghosts were instantly sucked away by the Zhao Yin Gate. Unfortunately, these ghosts could no longer reduce Xiao Yefeng's Yin Sin.
"Wind, I'll leave your protection to you. As long as the Zhao Yin Gate is here in this ward, it's safe. Today, as President, I need to settle some personal grudges. If I don't return, the Metaphysics Society will be left to Old Li and Old Cao!" With that, Jiang Xing vanished from the room—truly a powerful figure; he left without anyone noticing when he had gone.
However, Jiang Xing's departure did not change anything. Everyone in the room remained on high alert. Suddenly, two waves of Eerie Energy surged in; Cao Man and Li Xiangjun each faced their old adversaries. Cao Man's opponent was a burly Evil Spirit wielding a massive iron hammer, while Li Xiangjun confronted an Evil Spirit shrouded in iron chains that obscured its face.
