The elegant man was furious for the first time, and everyone present in the Liu Family conference hall was witnessing this rare sight. This was a man who had always been polite, engaging in light-hearted conversation, and remained unflappable in the face of any situation.
Now, with a grim expression, he slammed his hand on the table and pointed at Liu Qing, saying, "Liu Qing! You need to explain to me why you did this! Why is Yiyi your bargaining chip? Knowing full well that this is a trap, why did you jump into it?"
At that moment, a bespectacled man sitting beside Liu Qing stood up, holding a stack of documents. He spoke in a gentle tone, "Mu Ding, please calm down. I believe Liu has his own plans." The bespectacled man then offered a cup of water to the enraged Mu Ding.
In response, Mu Ding swatted the cup away with a fierce motion and grabbed Liu Qing by the collar. "Liu Qing, I have never regretted my life choices! You love to navigate the business world, and I have supported you. Yiyi is your daughter! What have I done to deserve this? Why are you putting my daughter in harm's way?"
With those words, tears streamed down the face of the once-elegant man as he clutched Liu Qing's collar. His strength faded, and he broke down into sobs like a child. The others present were at a loss for how to comfort him.
Seated at the head of the table, Liu Qing raised her hand stiffly and said, "Meeting adjourned! Everyone prepare for the engagement ceremony in America. If there are any mistakes, don’t expect to work at the Liu Family anymore!"
After Liu Qing's declaration, everyone began packing their things and leaving the conference room. Although they didn't understand her actions, this matter was between Liu Qing and Mu Ding; after all, Liu Yiyi was their daughter. What could they do as mere employees?
"Give me a reasonable explanation, Liu Qing! Otherwise, I will not let this go!" Mu Ding stood up as everyone else left the room.
"I am the head of the family; my orders must be followed unconditionally!" Liu Qing replied coldly, each word deliberate.
However, her words ignited Mu Ding's temper like a powder keg. He grabbed Liu Qing by her collar and lifted her up, raising his right arm as if to strike her. Though both were ordinary people, men generally possess greater physical strength. The slap landed on Liu Qing's face with a sharp "smack."
Surprisingly, despite being struck and her cheek turning red and swollen, Liu Qing remained completely still. Not only did her body not move, but even her neck remained rigid. Mu Ding was taken aback by his wife's strange behavior; he shook her gently but found he couldn't budge her at all. To his shock, Liu Qing had already grasped his arm tightly.
In that moment, only one thought crossed Mu Ding's mind: having weathered many storms in life, he recognized the look in his wife's eyes—she intended to kill him! And indeed it was true; in that silent conference room, Liu Qing's delicate fingers were as strong as steel rebar. She seized Mu Ding by the throat with one hand, her grip tightening like an iron band until he could no longer breathe.
In a panic, Mu Ding grabbed a nearby chair and swung it at Liu Qing. The metal chair struck her head with a loud clang, blood immediately streaming down from the wound. Yet seeing blood seemed to make Liu Qing even more ferocious as she tightened her grip on Mu Ding's throat until it made choking sounds.
Just as Mu Ding was about to meet his end, a large hand grabbed his shoulder. He felt a strong pull backward, and the hand that had been choking him was suddenly released. As Mu Ding gasped for breath, he looked up to see who had come to his aid.
"Old Master Mei! Liu Qing... what happened to her?" Mu Ding struggled to speak, his voice hoarse. It was a miracle he could even talk after nearly having his throat crushed by Liu Qing.
"Don't worry, someone is taking care of it!" Mei Yulou reassured him, standing protectively by Mu Ding's side.
At that moment, Mu Ding looked up and saw a young man with a sword pointed at Liu Qing's forehead with his left hand while his right hand formed a protective gesture over his chest. He was murmuring something under his breath. Liu Qing stood frozen in place, still in the position of choking Mu Ding.
The young man was none other than Xiao Yefeng. Seeing Liu Qing like this made it clear to him that she had been cursed. After receiving information from Mei Yulou, Xiao Yefeng had quickly deduced the situation. His heart sank as he realized that Liu Qing's life was in danger and that her loved ones were also at risk. Liu Qing was an only child; her parents had long passed away, leaving only her sister Liu Yiyi and her husband whom she had never met.
Realizing the gravity of the situation, Xiao Yefeng rushed to the car with Mei Yulou and sped toward the Liu Family estate. They had just crashed through the villa's front door when they arrived here and saved Mu Ding's life.
At this point, the bodyguards of the Liu Family finally arrived. They saw chaos in the conference room: Liu Qing was bleeding from her head and under control, while Mu Ding was slumped on the floor. A team of bodyguards rushed in ready to fight but were dispersed by Mu Ding, who made it clear they should leave for now.
After everything settled down, Mu Ding approached Xiao Yefeng and asked, "Brother, what exactly happened to my wife?" Noticing that Xiao Yefeng seemed too preoccupied to respond, Mu Ding turned his attention to Mei Yulou.
"Ah! This is Xiao Yefeng. We'll discuss the details later; just know he's someone from our circle!" Mei Yulou understood that some things were not for him to explain, so he merely provided a brief introduction before stepping back.
Although Mu Ding did not know Xiao Yefeng personally, he was familiar with Mei Yulou. Especially after hearing Mei Yulou mention "our circle," Mu Ding finally felt a sense of relief; being part of the Metaphysics Society meant that Liu Qing would be saved!
As time ticked by, Xiao Yefeng maintained his stance until finally opening his eyes. "What a vicious method! If I hadn't just enhanced my perception abilities, you might have escaped!" he exclaimed.
At that moment, Xiao Yefeng's Qi flowed continuously through Liu Qing's meridians. This ability could only be achieved after transforming Pseudo Spirit into True Spirit; otherwise, introducing Qi into an ordinary person's body could easily harm them. Only with a certain level of mastery over Qi could one accomplish this safely.
After searching for over thirty cycles within her body, Xiao Yefeng finally identified the peculiar aspect within Liu Qing. The person who cast the curse was an expert in this field. To save someone under such control, one must find the source of the curse. As the saying goes, "Water has its source; trees have their roots." Only by addressing the root cause can one fully resolve the issue. Generally speaking, when someone is cursed, the point of control is located in their mind.
However, Liu Qing's mind was more normal than that of an average person. After thirty rounds, Xiao Yefeng surprisingly found no difference within Liu Qing. It was only at the last moment that Xiao Yefeng recalled a strange cursed sect from his memory, known as the Blood Witch Curse. The disciples of this sect were skilled in formless spells, which initially caused headaches for many. However, the key to breaking the curse was eventually discovered, leading to the sect's disappearance.
Xiao Yefeng did not expect that there were still disciples of the Blood Witch Curse in the world causing harm. Carefree Righteousness was currently entrenched within Xiao Yefeng's Spirit Platform, where a vortex of Qi was gradually forming. Two streams of Qi, one azure and one golden, intertwined above Xiao Yefeng's Spirit Platform, while the Zhao Yin Gate was ensnared between them, resembling two dragons playing with a pearl.
At that moment, Xiao Yefeng directed his Qi into Liu Qing's forehead. The two streams of Qi spiraled rapidly within Liu Qing's body before charging straight towards his mind. For an ordinary person, such an impact would surely leave them foolish; however, when the two dragons collided fiercely in Liu Qing's mind, there was no effect whatsoever.
"Here it comes!" Xiao Yefeng said in a deep voice. He pressed down with his fingertip, causing Liu Qing to sit down instantly, while Xiao Yefeng also sat cross-legged. On the other side of a platform shaped like a shrine, a wooden figure made from willow wood suddenly sat up at a table. The shape of its legs was identical to Liu Qing's.
A woman observed the changes in the wooden figure and said, "Master, the spirit doll has shown signs of change!"
"Hmph! Just a Sorcerer opposing me; how dare you disrupt my willow spirit doll! Let me show you the power of a Black Witch!" At that moment, a woman dressed in red entered through the curtain on the other side of the platform.
Upon seeing the form of the wooden doll, the Black Witch knelt beside the platform and picked up a red rope nearby, swinging it toward the doll. The rope seemed to possess a will of its own as it wrapped around the doll's neck. The Black Witch formed her fingers into a specific gesture and chanted an incantation before opening her eyes and declaring, "Divine Power, control!"
At that instant, Xiao Yefeng felt Liu Qing—whom he had pinned down—suddenly open his eyes and glare at him with fury. Seeing this scene, Xiao Yefeng recited a spell and gently stroked Liu Qing's closed eyes with his other hand, causing them to shut once more.
At this moment, Xiao Yefeng thought to himself that this soul-seeking curse was indeed powerful; however, its caster was also formidable—at least stronger than him! But as fellow True Spirits, it all came down to whose abilities were superior! With this thought in mind, Xiao Yefeng withdrew his finger and swiftly changed his hand gestures. The Golden Cyan spiritual energy surged upward as he pressed forcefully on Liu Qing's forehead, directing his spiritual power into Liu Qing's mind.
Meanwhile, the Black Witch faced trouble as the red rope entwined around her wooden doll began to snap inch by inch. This sudden turn of events caused her expression to change drastically. Grabbing five black threads nearby, she flung them outwards; their ends entangled around the doll's limbs and neck. The Black Witch declared, "What a fierce Qi killing intent! Unfortunately, my plan is already complete; Liu Qing no longer has any reason to exist!"
