"What do you think?" Qing asked, slightly puzzled.
At that moment, Xiao Yefeng was taken aback. Wasn't this something decided after discussions between Qing and Jie? He didn't ask further and said directly, "From a strategic perspective, this is very beneficial for you! Jie’s invitation clearly indicates that he realizes the Perfect World won't return the map and the Eight Directions Seal. Isn't that good for you?"
"World peace is certainly what I need, but I feel that something is off! Do you have time now?" Qing inquired.
Xiao Yefeng glanced at Liu Yiyi beside him and replied, "I still have some time. What's up?"
"Let's meet up; I'm in the woods outside Liu Family!" Qing said before hanging up. Xiao Yefeng looked at Liu Yiyi, who smiled slightly and said, "Go ahead; come back early; Mom and Dad are waiting for you to have dinner!"
Seeing Liu Yiyi's expression, Xiao Yefeng nodded. He wrapped an arm around her shoulder and hugged her briefly before leaping towards the window. With a single step on the windowsill, he harnessed Primordial Qi and stepped onto the leaves outside, gliding down like Qing had done before. He maneuvered through the treetops and gradually disappeared into the forest.
Standing by the window, Liu Yiyi watched Xiao Yefeng's retreating figure with a smile. Although there was a hint of bitterness, his embrace before leaving spoke volumes—sweet yet tinged with melancholy. Liu Yiyi stepped out of her room as the golden rays of sunset began to appear; she was heading to the kitchen to help Liu Qing prepare dinner.
Noticing the blush on her daughter's face, Liu Qing smiled and said, "When are you two planning to get married? Why not do it together with Mei Mo'er and the others?"
"Mom! We're not in a hurry. Some things aren't as simple as you think. I mean... Mom, we still have some issues; we can't get married for now!" Liu Yiyi replied shyly but with a hint of helplessness.
Seeing Liu Yiyi's demeanor, Liu Qing felt a pang of anxiety. She put down her knife and asked, "Is there some conflict? Did Feng upset you?"
Liu Yiyi shook her head and said softly, "It has nothing to do with him; it's my issue." She didn't elaborate further. After a moment of confusion from Liu Qing's side glance at her daughter, they continued preparing dinner together without delving deeper into the topic, though Liu Qing couldn't shake off her unease.
Meanwhile, outside in the woods, Qing stood under a pine tree in a light blue celestial dress. As Xiao Yefeng landed gently on a branch nearby and saw her, he asked directly, "Do you have something to discuss?"
"Of course there’s something! After thinking it over, it seems you are the only one I can confide in, so here I am!" Qingdao said.
"Enough!" Xiao Yefeng waved his hand, clearing two clean spots on the ground. He sat directly on the fallen leaves, and Qingdao, without any concern about staining her celestial dress, also sat down among the leaves.
After a long sigh, Qingdao continued, "My brother wants me to take out the map and the Spirit Binding Silver Nail to join forces with him to break through Perfect World!"
Furrowing his brow, Xiao Yefeng asked in confusion, "He can't be brain-dead from being beaten by Perfect World, can he? The people from Perfect World took the map and the Eight Directions Seal precisely to prevent him from completing his plan. And you’re in the same boat! "Something you couldn't refuse? What is it?" Xiao Yefeng asked.
Reaching for her wristwatch, she activated it, and a three-dimensional projection appeared on the rock in front of them. The image showed an ordinary person anxiously pacing in a laboratory. Although Xiao Yefeng wanted to ask questions, he patiently watched. Three minutes later, the anxious man suddenly collapsed to the ground, foaming at the mouth as he convulsed. Then, he underwent a dramatic transformation.
The man who had been twitching on the ground suddenly stood up. From the movement of his facial and hand muscles, it was clear that his body was changing—similar to the process of Beastification. As Xiao Yefeng had guessed, gray-red fur erupted from his skin, and his hospital gown could no longer contain the massive expansion of his muscles; it burst apart.
Two minutes later, a wolf-like beastman covered in gray-red fur appeared. The beastman then turned abruptly towards a one-foot-diameter iron pillar behind him. He raised his right foot and kicked it with such speed that the video barely captured it. An inwardly curved footprint appeared on the iron pillar; from the video, this footprint was at least an inch deep.
Then he raised both arms and used his claws to carve a cross into the iron pillar. Sparks flew as deep two-inch-long claw marks were left on the pillar. Seeing this made Xiao Yefeng nod; this was merely the basic ability of a Gene Warrior who had accepted a mid-grade Gene Serum with a Gene Fusion level of twenty percent. Such an attack was something Xiao Yefeng could easily achieve himself; even in his normal state without entering Gene Beast Transformation, he could leave claw marks on that pillar with just his nails.
Thus, Xiao Yefeng found it hard to understand why this video could change Qingdao's attitude.
"Doesn't it seem quite ordinary?" Qingdao asked as she put away the video.
"I have to admit! Yes, this is just an ordinary Gene Warrior. Although I don’t know why he seems somewhat sluggish, it's still quite normal!" Xiao Yefeng replied.
"Yes! That’s what I thought too. However, after seeing the complete video, my perspective changed!" Qingdao smiled.
"Complete?" Xiao Yefeng asked in confusion as another segment of video appeared. It was still about this man; however, now he was wandering around on the street. Clearly a homeless person rummaging through trash cans, he was suddenly pulled into a car by two men in black. The process of stripping him and putting him into a hospital gown occurred at that moment. The key point came when a woman whose face was not visible drew some liquid from a large jar on a cart and injected it into this man’s body. What followed was what Xiao Yefeng had just seen but now included footage of this woman directing him to attack the iron pillar.
Next came another segment showing the woman throwing this man into a large cage filled with other Gene Warriors. Although it was just a fleeting glimpse, there were almost all kinds of Beastification warriors inside; this man's wolf form was merely one among many. There was also an added dialogue between this woman and another man!
"Another success! The recent success rate has reached ninety-five percent. It seems the plan is almost ready to be launched!" a man's voice said.
"No, we need to subject these solutions to stronger tests. Our goal is to vaporize these agents; only then will we truly fulfill Master’s orders!" the woman replied.
After a moment, the man asked, "What about these people?"
"Let them stay! There will always be a use for these fellows!" The voice faded, and the screen went dark, leaving Xiao Yefeng with a puzzled expression and Qing deep in thought. After a brief silence, Xiao Yefeng asked, "Where did this video come from?"
"My brother obtained it. To be honest, this is a video secretly transmitted by our people embedded in Perfect World. My brother's team managed to get a clearer version, while mine only received the news!" Qing explained.
"A vaporizing agent that can convert people into Gene Warriors with a ninety-five percent success rate—what do they intend to do with these people?" Xiao Yefeng murmured.
At that moment, Qing added, "That's how it is. I believe my brother wouldn't deceive me over this. Before the Divine King's Scepter was destroyed, he sensed the location of the last fragment of the map. However, it was obscured by a powerful Inspiration. The color was strange; it seemed like a divine dragon stepping on seven stars was guarding it. One claw of that dragon shattered the perception of the Divine King's Scepter. I believe you can help me find it!"
Xiao Yefeng was taken aback by Qing's words but soon understood. Although he was unaware of his own situation, Qing knew him well.
The key point was that ever since the Divination Compass fell into Qing's hands, no matter how she calculated the map's location, there were only three fragments. The last piece could not be found at all, which puzzled her. However, now that the perception of the outstanding Divine King's Scepter had been revealed, Qing had already guessed where the missing map fragment was located. Looking at Qing, Xiao Yefeng smiled and said, "That's right; the last map belonging to Eternal Child is with me! You guessed correctly; I also erased my perception of that map from the Divination Compass. But what do you mean? Do you want me to take it out?"
Shaking her head, Qing replied, "Thank you for your trust. On the contrary, I not only don't want you to take it out but also hope you can forget its contents. Since only you are aware of that map, I hope you will never hand it over!"
