Chapter 69: A Change of Heart
Soon, Mei Chuanqiong also carried Hank over, and upon seeing Mei Chuanqiong, both Davis and Mark, the Vampire Counts, were even more astonished. Looking at Mei Chuanqiong, Davis exclaimed, "You... you all! I understand now; you came to rescue him!"
"Of course, and now I plan to save you as well. As you can see, these servants dare to act so recklessly; clearly, your fate is evident!" Xiao Yefeng said, glancing at the third water prison where a servant still held onto the sharp peaks of Countess Lily without letting go.
Countess Lily was evidently an experienced player in this game. Unconcerned about her predicament, she looked at Xiao Yefeng and said, "You were able to bring Ilyana to rescue him; you must be quite powerful!"
"Indeed!" Xiao Yefeng replied with a smile.
As they spoke, Xiao Yefeng used the Yin-Yang Sword to free everyone from their bindings. Unsurprisingly, the moment these vampire nobles regained their freedom, the servants who had tormented them faced dire consequences!
With sharp fangs piercing the throats of these servants, their teeth sank into the arteries of their victims. Blood flowed down these fangs, transforming into Blood Energy that replenished the strength of the vampires. Watching this scene, Xiao Yefeng shrugged it off; after all, those who died were members of the Ferrad Family, and those doing the killing were also from the Ferrad Family. As long as these individuals were not from Huaxia, Xiao Yefeng had no qualms about it—after all, he needed them to regain his strength.
Vampires truly thrived on blood. With the sound of lifeless bodies hitting the ground echoing around them, these elegantly dressed yet disheveled blood nobles gathered around Xiao Yefeng. Not all servants fell lifeless after losing blood; some were torn to shreds, including Countess Lily and that Vampire Count who had been humiliated.
"Thank you for saving our lives!" The vampires bowed in unison to Xiao Yefeng. In fact, he should feel fortunate; this was a groundbreaking moment for vampires to show such respect to an Easterner. Among them was also the dim-witted princess Ilyana.
"No need for such formalities. My name is Xiao Yefeng. However, the problem isn't over yet. I assume you've all experienced Abel's power firsthand! He and his people are inside the castle. No more chatter; let's charge in!" Xiao Yefeng declared.
"No! It's not just that, Mr. Xiao! We must eliminate the traitors! Sister Fuluna will take over the Ferrad Family!" Mark stepped forward.
At that moment, Xiao Yefeng looked at Mei Chuanqiong and saw that her eyes were filled with a fighting spirit. Clearly, she was determined for her beloved's sake. Xiao Yefeng helplessly nodded; these people truly did not know their limits. Abel's strength had undoubtedly been enhanced by the God of Sorcery. It wasn't that he looked down on Mark as a high-ranking vampire count; rather, according to vampire hierarchy standards, Abel's current strength was at least that of a Marquis—an existence at Peak Level!
However, as they say, one should see things through to the end! At this moment, Xiao Yefeng also wanted to learn whether the God of Sorcery always arrived in time to intervene when those being transformed met their demise!
Facing the God of Sorcery, Xiao Yefeng felt utterly powerless. However, during the incident with the Black Witch, it was clear that the God of Sorcery could not act against him either. Thus, Xiao Yefeng's true enemies remained the Master of the Perfect World and those who had been manipulated by the God of Sorcery to serve the Master.
Without further ado, Xiao Yefeng approached Hank, who was still alive but barely hanging on. He reached out and touched Hank's forehead, instantly infusing his spirit into Hank's soul. Hank was just an ordinary person, and his soul's defenses were swiftly torn apart by Xiao Yefeng. A series of secret codes appeared before him, including the seventh code.
After waiting for the vampires and Mei Chuanqiong to finish their adjustments, Xiao Yefeng held Hank's lifeless body and approached the main door. He knocked out a sequence of codes on the door: four long knocks, two short ones, five long ones, and three medium ones. Sure enough, Hawkins opened the door and peeked through, saying, "Why did it take so long? What are you doing so close? The Master is getting impatient; we need to hurry—"
As he rambled on while opening the door, his words were abruptly cut off when a powerful hand crushed his throat. The corpse was tossed aside as Xiao Yefeng commanded, "Let's go!"
The group of fourteen vampires, along with Xiao Yefeng and Mei Chuanqiong, surged out of the dungeon passageway. However, they immediately encountered two fully armed servants.
The servants sensed something was off and raised their guns to aim down the passage. Yet they were no match for the furious vampires; in an instant, two Viscount-level vampires shattered their spines.
Despite their demise, these two had shown loyalty; as they died, alarms blared throughout the area. Xiao Yefeng felt multiple presences locking onto their location, and most critically, a blood blade descended from above at an angle.
Seeing the blood blade charged with Blood Energy coming at him, a High-ranking Vampire Viscount attempted to block it. However, Grain of Light could not compete with Bright Moon; the Viscount's blood blade was shattered and swept toward Ilyana behind Xiao Yefeng. Ilyana had powerful abilities but was currently incapacitated; she cowered behind Xiao Yefeng in fear.
Shaking his head, Xiao Yefeng wielded his sword and unleashed a wave of sword energy that shattered the incoming blade. The Golden Cyan sword energy collided with the crimson blood blade, creating a shockwave. Meanwhile, Abel's vampires poured out to confront them. The vampires on Xiao Yefeng's side responded in kind as internal battles erupted among them, including Mei Chuanqiong showcasing her martial arts skills.
Ilyana remained protected by Mark Davis and Lily in a defensive formation. Although she couldn't assist due to her condition, she managed to evade erratic Blood Energy attacks.
At that moment, Abel hovered above with his Golden Blood Bat watching the battlefield below. Upon spotting Ilyana, he charged toward her but forgot who had previously blocked his blood blade attack. As Abel broke through the trio’s defenses to grab Ilyana, a golden longsword intercepted his hand. Just as Abel attempted to break it, the longsword spun like a drill.
With a clang! The sword deflected Abel's fingers away. It was then that Abel finally noticed Xiao Yefeng standing motionless without any aura or reaction. Memories of past humiliations flooded back as he faced his enemy again; without hesitation, he condensed Blood Energy into a Western Sword aimed directly at Xiao Yefeng's forehead.
But Xiao Yefeng was no longer the same person he once was; while Abel could form a sword from Blood Energy, Xiao Yefeng had mastered Sword Control Technique. The Yin-Yang Sword danced around him in such a way that Abel couldn't even approach. Meanwhile, fierce battles raged on among the other vampires as they fought for survival.
With a sharp sound, the Hospital Vampire Count under Abel was directly torn apart by Davis, losing a section of its arm. In that instant, the one-armed Vampire Count was swiftly grabbed by Mark, who crushed its throat, killing it instantly. The Blood Energy of this Vampire Count was absorbed by Mark and Davis. Not far away, a High-ranking Vampire Viscount saved by Xiao Yefeng was also killed, its Blood Energy completely drained.
These vampires, who had once shared a bond, were now enemies. Before these events unfolded, the two sides could have sat together for a meal or drinks. The Vampire Count just killed by Mark and Davis was of the same generation as them; in fact, Davis and this Count were half-brothers. Yet, the unpredictability of life had turned them against each other.
When they turned against one another, they did so with ruthless determination, showing no hesitation. At this moment, apart from Ilyana, all the other vampires were drenched in blood—both their own and that of their foes. Although Xiao Yefeng's side had fewer vampires, the number of Vampire Counts made a significant difference. With Abel on their side—who had been enhanced by the God of Sorcery—they were able to manipulate Blood Energy more effectively despite their lower cultivation levels. The battle raged on below with neither side gaining an advantage.
A Viscount could not withstand a Count alone; five might be able to hold one at bay. This was the situation on the ground, while Ilyana found herself at a loss. She could only evade attacks; she had no means to counterattack. If only there were one more Bloodline Count on her side, their combat power would be vastly different!
Above them, the battle between Xiao Yefeng and Abel was intense. However, the power Abel wielded was not something he had earned through his own efforts; although each attack was incredibly strong, his consistency was lacking. The Yin-Yang Sword shattered Abel's blood sword four times before he could no longer hold back.
"Bring me the sword!" Abel commanded as Alex stood still like a machine, tossing two golden Western swords embedded with blood-red gems into the air. Then Alex collapsed to the ground. Through Observer's Eye, Xiao Yefeng saw that at the moment Alex threw the two swords, his soul attached itself to them.
This was Xiao Yefeng's first encounter with such humanoid weapons created by the God of Sorcery. The last Divine Blade he encountered had been in Soul Space where his spirit transformed into a blade; this time it was purely a humanized weapon.
"Indeed, this is the handiwork of the God of Sorcery. Abel, you would sacrifice such a loyal servant?" Xiao Yefeng said angrily.
At that moment, Abel held his Twin Swords in hand as two Blood Roses appeared before him. After squeezing them tightly, he declared, "Loyal servant? At this moment, he is truly devoted to me!"
Seeing Abel's demeanor made Xiao Yefeng's hatred indescribable. He barely knew Alex but respected his character deeply. Now witnessing Abel sacrifice Alex for power filled Xiao Yefeng with rage; his teeth clenched in anger as his Yin-Yang Sword glimmered brightly. Perhaps the Yin-Yang Sword sensed Xiao Yefeng's fury or mourned for its fellow weapons—the two Western swords!
