This case occurred ten years ago, but it had already captured the attention of countless netizens at the time. The murder of the BMW Female Driver on the street, the public displaying "swordsmanship," taxis showing as empty while picking up passengers, and the torn pants discarded by the roadside—all these signs indicated that this was no ordinary case.
So what story lies behind it?
Time: March 3, 2014.
Location: Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Guilin City Xiangshan District.
On that day, at 6 PM, Cypress Road was bustling with traffic and pedestrians chatting cheerfully. However, a red BMW X6 parked by the roadside stood out conspicuously. At that moment, a middle-aged woman walked out from a nearby shop. Just as she pressed the remote lock for her BMW and got inside, passersby heard faint cries for help coming from within the car.
Upon hearing the sounds, several people quickly gathered around, as the cries were weak and mixed with what sounded like an argument. Initially, the crowd was uncertain if someone was indeed in distress.
"Hey."
"Boss, I asked where he was; that person said he was in the car, so I opened the door."
"I saw a knife. It was only when I saw the knife that I realized this wasn't just a typical couple's quarrel."

As more people gathered, the man committing the crime inside the car opened the door and fled. The woman chased after him while shouting, "Someone's robbing!" Soon after, the fleeing man stole a motorcycle on Zhongshan Road and headed towards Ximen Bridge, leaving the pedestrians unable to catch up. After citizens reported the incident, the woman was rushed to the hospital for emergency treatment but ultimately succumbed to her injuries.
Given the brief timeframe of the incident and the tense nature of the citizens' confrontation with the assailant, along with the recent terror attack in Kunming on March 1st, rumors of "Guilin Encountered Terrorist Attack" spread rapidly.
"He was quite a large guy, and it seemed like he had a prominent nose."

The police quickly identified the victim as Ms. Fu, a technology officer at a financial firm in Guilin City. Her status as a BMW owner made her case particularly notable. The incident became known online as the "Guilin BMW Woman Murder Case."
The case had a severe social impact. Multiple departments urged the Public Security Bureau to mobilize a capable team to solve the case swiftly and mitigate its societal repercussions.
After the incident, the suspect had already fled the scene. Who exactly was he, and where did he escape to? Soon, the police discovered footage of the suspect's escape through surveillance cameras.

However, according to eyewitness accounts, there was only one man involved in the crime. Witnesses described that after the injured female driver crawled out of the car to seek help, he moved to the driver's seat to start the vehicle. He appeared somewhat flustered but failed to start the BMW due to unfamiliarity with its gear shift.
Yet this behavior puzzled investigators. If he had meticulously chosen this BMW as his target, why was he unable to drive it?
If he couldn't drive, could it be that the BMW was not his intended target? What were his true motives and intentions?

What could have driven the suspect to threaten the female driver? From the reconstruction of the scene, it appeared that the perpetrator had a specific goal in mind, rather than simply intending to kill. After committing the crime, the suspect immediately fled on a motorcycle that was waiting for passengers by the roadside.
The Investigator analyzed that in order to capture the suspect, it was essential to understand his activities after the robbery. Thus, the police reviewed all Sky Net Surveillance footage from around Ximen Bridge.
The surveillance showed that the suspect fled on a motorcycle in a frenzy. After reaching Xinyi Road, he discarded the motorcycle near a Bus Stop Sign by Ronghu Hotel.
However, he seemed to vanish into the crowd afterward. If they could not track down the suspect, it would pose significant challenges to solving the case.
Meanwhile, after investigating the social connections of the victimized female driver, police discovered that she had a good economic status but also a complex interpersonal network.
Did the suspect know the victim? If they did know each other, was it due to a vendetta or a romantic dispute?
If they didn’t know each other, was it merely a robbery gone wrong or an act of violent terror?
At this moment, what lay before the Guilin police were enormous question marks. Simultaneously, through meticulous examination by technical personnel at the crime scene, various points of suspicion emerged and were systematically investigated.

To this end, the special investigation team dispatched over sixty officers to specifically examine the suspect's escape route and review surveillance footage from Sky Net and various units.
After repeatedly scrutinizing the footage, they finally captured a crucial piece of information in a brief segment of video.
"Look at these two smooth marble slabs; they can reflect light. In that reflection, there's an image of a vehicle. There's a round shadow that pauses slightly as it approaches this spot, then there’s a downward motion—it's as if this person might have gotten into a taxi."
From the surveillance footage, a male figure suddenly lowered his posture. By closely analyzing this seemingly insignificant action, the police confirmed that this was indeed the suspect opening the taxi door and getting inside; he must have switched from the motorcycle to a taxi after discarding it.
Multiple investigative teams sprang into action, one group checking all taxis involved in the case while another followed the suspect's escape route.
Soon, they tracked down the movements of this taxi. However, it was puzzling that while the taxi's front displayed as empty, video surveillance vaguely showed someone seated in the back. Who was this hidden passenger? Could he be the suspect?
In response, the officers responsible for monitoring video footage became even more vigilant, leaving no frame unexamined.
They stopped next to North Square Mall. Continuing north, they halted at North Square Mall.
The team conducted thorough checks of the town and village clinics to see if there were any suspicious individuals.
At the same time, the special investigation team dispatched a group of dozens of investigators to comprehensively examine the bus drivers heading to various counties in Guibei and the surveillance footage on the buses. However, no information that could identify the suspect had emerged.

On March 8, Quanzhou Police reported that they had discovered a man resembling the suspect who had frequented a hotel in the outskirts of the county.
After careful consideration, it was determined that the suspicious man identified by Quanzhou Police was indeed the Suspect, prompting a large deployment of police forces into Quanzhou for further investigation.
However, the hotel owner's statement doused their enthusiasm with cold water.
"He didn't register with his ID because he only stayed there for a little over three hours. When it was time to register at night, he had already left."
The suspect had evaded to Quanzhou County, resting for just over three hours. After such a brief stay, where could he have gone next? Could he possibly be from Quanzhou?
