In the misty darkness of the night, I could clearly see Zhang Dexin's figure. He looked somewhat disheveled, and his complexion was not good. 0

When he approached, his first words were not directed at me but at Jianjian. "What are you doing here?" he asked, leaving me puzzled. 0

Jianjian looked at Zhang Dexin but didn't respond; instead, she hid behind me. 0

Feeling a bit guilty for having left Zhang Dexin earlier, I asked him if he was alright. 0

Zhang Dexin gave a bitter smile and said he was fine. Then he turned to me and said, "Saning, Borlun's girlfriend has been seen at the temple before." His words immediately piqued my curiosity. 0

I wondered if the scream I had heard at the temple earlier had come from Jianjian. But how could she have returned to my bed so quickly, especially after fainting? 0

She truly was a strange girl, one I couldn't quite understand. 0

I glanced at Zhang Dexin, who did not continue speaking. 0

Zhang Dexin pulled Jianjian into the house. Once they were inside, he continued, saying he had seen a child. 0

I instantly realized he must be talking about Soybean. 0

I didn't respond but waited for him to elaborate. 0

Zhang Dexin didn't keep me in suspense; he simply said, "The child's soul is incomplete; it seems they've fallen victim to some trick." 0

"What trick?" I blurted out. 0

Zhang Dexin sighed and replied, "I don't know yet; I need to investigate further." After saying this, he headed toward the house. However, just as he reached the door, he turned back to me and said, "You can't go back on your promise now. Remember, East City Ruined Temple." 0

I nodded in agreement. 0

I stood at the door, lost in thought for a moment, before finally stepping inside. Jianjian and Zhang were sitting together. 0

I walked straight up to Jianjian and asked, "How did you get to the temple before?" 0

Jianjian's eyes were incredibly clear at that moment. She looked at me and said, "I followed you there. Later, I even saw a female ghost beside you..." 0

Her voice took on a somewhat eerie tone. 0

I stared at Jianjian, feeling that what she said might be true. A girl with such clean eyes wouldn’t lie. 0

Jianjian continued, saying that the female ghost told her not to follow me. 0

The more she spoke, the more mysterious it became. 0

I suddenly felt goosebumps rising on my skin, and a chill ran down my spine. How could there be an extra female ghost? 0

"Saning," Jianjian said, "that female ghost was very beautiful. I told you, you can see ghosts; otherwise, how would a ghost follow you?" 0

A shiver ran through me, and I fell silent for a while. Eventually, I asked, "Jianjian, can you really see ghosts?" 0

Zhang listened to our conversation with a bewildered expression, as if we were speaking nonsense. 0

After I asked Jianjian if she could see ghosts, Zhang interjected, "Saning, are you just messing around? Do you really believe this?" 0

After a moment, I replied that I did believe. 0

I had never believed before, but now I did—believing that this world had ghosts. However, when it came to Jianjian's words, I still felt they were worth considering. 0

In this world, there are ghosts, but can anyone really see them? 0

At this moment, it was already midnight. My parents were busy helping my Third Uncle with his funeral, so they wouldn't be coming back to sleep. 0

I didn't ask any further. I tidied up a few rooms for them to rest in, and after taking a shower, I lay down on my bed. Fatigue quickly overtook me. 0

I slowly drifted off to sleep. 0

However, in the middle of the night, I felt someone blowing gently in my ear. Groggily, I opened my eyes and saw Jianjian standing by my bed. 0

I was instantly startled awake and stared at Jianjian. I asked, "What are you doing?" 0

It was late at night, and if Zhang the Fatty misunderstood this situation, he would definitely come at me with a knife. 0

Jianjian looked at me wide-eyed and said, "Saning, there's a female ghost lying right next to you..." 0

As soon as she finished speaking, I broke out in a cold sweat and couldn't respond. 0

"Where is she?" 0

"Right behind you..." 0

I wanted to ask more, but the next second, Jianjian let out a sharp scream and ran away. Zhang the Fatty woke up and saw Jianjian in the living room. 0

I turned to look behind me; it was empty—there was nothing there at all. 0

I was really about to lose my mind from Jianjian's antics. Outside was noisy, but I lay back down again. I simply had no mood to deal with what was happening outside. 0

After about a minute, it finally quieted down. 0

I fell asleep again, thinking I would sleep until dawn. However, something unexpected happened in the middle of the night. I wasn't sure if I had a nightmare or if I really heard something. 0

It seemed like I heard Soybean calling for me to save him. But that voice was fleeting. 0

When I woke up in the morning, I saw Zhang Dexin practicing Tai Chi at my doorstep. 0

Upon noticing me, Zhang Dexin said, "Saning, come over and spar with your Uncle Zhang!" I rolled my eyes, recalling the nightmare from last night. So, I walked over and asked, "Uncle Zhang, what did you say about that child's soul being affected by some kind of spell?" 0

Zhang Dexin had regained his usual composure and replied, "I can't say for certain, but what I do know is that his incomplete soul is related to his body. There might still be a part of his soul lingering with the corpse." 0

I listened in confusion and responded, "But he’s already dead, right? How can his soul still be attached to the body?" 0

"This has to do with certain spells. If you want to know more, we need to find the body." 0

After a while, my parents returned home and informed me that Third Uncle's funeral was today. I asked why it was only two days instead of the usual three. 0

My mother looked at me and said, "The village contributed money for Third Uncle's funeral; two days is sufficient." 0

Suddenly, my father said to me, "Let's go pay our last respects to your Third Uncle this afternoon!" 0

With that, my parents grabbed some things and left again. 0

I stood there in a daze. 0

Zhang Dexin continued practicing Tai Chi. After my parents left, he took me to a temple, saying that he couldn't just stand by when faced with this situation. 0

However, when we arrived at the temple, the Temple Guardian told me, "The body has already been handed over to you; it's not my concern if you lost it." 0

I continued to ask, "Who gave you the body?" 0

"Guardian," replied, "it's Soybean." 0

As those words fell, a chill ran through me. I couldn't believe that Soybean had actually found someone to dig up the body. 0

Since we couldn't get any answers here, we decided to leave. 0

On the way, Zhang Dexin asked me, "Saning, do you know how long Borlun has been dating his girlfriend?" 0

I shook my head, saying I had only just found out recently. 0

Zhang Dexin responded with an "oh." 0

After that, we both fell silent as we neared the village. 0

Zhang Dexin broke the silence, saying, "Saning, maybe Borlun's girlfriend can help you find Soybean's body." 0

I immediately caught on and replied, "You mean she can see ghosts?" 0

Zhang Dexin nodded. 0

In the afternoon, there was quite a commotion in the village because Third Uncle was being buried. I attended the funeral along with Jianjian and Zhang Pang. After the burial was over, my mom told me that I would be going back to the city with them to work tomorrow. 0

I agreed. 0

After the funeral, my parents went off to handle some final arrangements. 0

By this time, night had fallen. I asked Jianjian who had taken away the body and where it was now. 0

Jianjian was visibly taken aback by my question, and to my surprise, Jianjian really knew where the body was. 0

That night, we arrived at the riverside, where Jianjian told me that he had seen an old man sink Soybean's body to the bottom of the river. 0

The four of us felt a bit cold in the chilly weather. 0

Zhang Fatty and I waded into the water and eventually managed to retrieve Soybean's body. I was astonished; who could have hidden Soybean's body in the water? 0

Jianjian said it was an old man. I quickly described Third Uncle's appearance to Jianjian, who nodded eagerly after hearing it. 0

I was shocked beyond belief; I never expected that it was indeed Third Uncle who had harmed Soybean. The Tiger's Poison does not consume its own, yet Third Uncle had resorted to such measures. 0

After pulling the body out, Zhang Dexin examined Soybean's remains and eventually extracted a nearly ten-centimeter iron nail from his head. 0

Holding the nail, Zhang Dexin said, "This iron nail pressed down on this child's Crown of the Soul, suppressing part of his Remnant Soul, which is why he has been unable to rest." 0

In the end, Zhang Dexin found a spot with good feng shui to re-bury Soybean's body. 0

That night when I returned home, I had a dream. I saw Soybean's smiling face; he smiled and said, "Thank you, brother." 0

But soon after, the scene shifted dramatically. The fierce face of Third Uncle emerged, and he furiously said to me, "Saning, you shouldn't have done this." 0

I woke up in fright. 0

As soon as I stepped outside after waking up, Zhang Dexin reminded me not to go back on my word regarding the East City Ruined Temple. 0
