He stood there beside me, dazed and motionless like a fat man.
The Evil Being spoke up, "Those who have seen my soul are already dead. I have buried many, but burying someone like you is a first for me."
The Evil Being could strip the "Soul" from the living; perhaps we had misunderstood from the beginning. This Evil Being did not intend to bury me alive.
Instead, he was luring me into this trap. He wanted my eyes and my soul.
So the Twelve Eternal Lanterns were still lit, but obtaining my eyes and soul would not be so simple. The Mystery might be hidden in that coffin.
He had previously complained that I had acquired too much, so now he wanted to take my possessions away.
The light here was dim, and I couldn't see much. I turned to glance at him, who also had white eyes, and I was curious. Was he dead now? What state was he in?
Moreover, hadn't he given me those white eyes? Why were his eyes still white now?
I took a deep breath.
At that moment, the fat man stepped forward and began to remove my clothes.
I asked what he was doing, but he ignored me. Soon after, I felt a chill on my forehead. Then I sensed something pressing down on me.
Damn it! What is this? Sleep Paralysis? That perverted Evil Being couldn't possibly be on top of me right now, could he?
I shouted, "Heyan Ge, are you Damn it pressing down on me?"
I have a feeling. This Evil Being is strange; he is not just a simple soul. I can't see him, only sense his presence.
A chill ran through me, as if a hand were gently stroking me.
"Let me take a good look at those eyes," the Evil Being said, his voice low and intimate, like he was whispering in my ear. Though it was barely audible, I heard him clearly.
"Damn it, what a dead ghost you are!" I cursed, thinking that since I was going to die anyway, I might as well vent my frustrations.
However, the Evil Being didn't seem to care at all. I felt his hand reach toward my eyes, and instinctively, I closed them. He then tried to pry them open.
Meanwhile, he just stood there watching. I thought to myself that at least he should try to save me. Whether he could or not was another matter, but he should at least make an effort since these eyes were given to me by him.
Yet he remained indifferent.
The fat man was the same way.
Damn it. It truly felt like a nightmare to be in such a situation. My eyes were forced open, and it felt like he breathed into them.
At first, I felt a cool sensation in my eyes, but then I screamed in agony. It seemed as if the Evil Being had inserted a finger into my eye and was now digging it out…
The pain began subtly but soon surged through my entire body like a tidal wave.
But I couldn't move; one of my eyes was quickly gouged out, and I felt my cheek becoming soaked with blood.
The Evil Being let out a twisted, eerie laugh, murmuring, "Eyes, eyes... I finally have them today."
I was in so much pain that cold sweat poured down my body, and I was convulsing. Yet, I could only watch as one of my eyes was gouged out, while the other widened in agony. I wanted to faint, but my consciousness remained unnaturally clear at that moment.
One of my eyes was gone. I couldn't help but turn to look at Fatty. I had become just like him now; however, when I glanced at him, I noticed a smile playing at the corners of his mouth.
Seeing that smile chilled my heart instantly. Could it be that Fatty was still conscious? He hadn’t become a puppet after all; had all those actions been deliberate?
Realizing this made me feel deceived—betrayed by my own good friend.
I called out to Fatty, shouting, "Fatty, can you hear me? Damn it, say something!"
My empty eye socket felt as if it were being cradled by hands.
"Saning, how do you feel now?"
I ignored the twisted Evil Being and continued to question Fatty. I didn’t want to die without understanding what was happening.
The Evil Being laughed again at my state and said to Fatty, "Say something for him; maybe it will make him suffer even more."
With that, the Evil Being's laughter grew even more grotesque.
Blood flowed from my vacant eye socket as pain gnawed at me relentlessly. I turned my face to look at Fatty.
“Is that you, Fatty?” I asked again.
Zhang Fatty finally spoke up, “It’s me, Saning.”
I was instantly furious and cursed, “Fatty, you bastard! I came to save you out of kindness, and you ended up betraying me.” Zhang Fatty listened to my insults but didn’t respond.
The Evil Being seemed to be watching the scene unfold, not making any further moves against me.
“Damn it, Jianjian really misjudged you.”
As soon as I mentioned Jianjian, Zhang Fatty seemed to lose control. He finally said, “Saning, Jianjian doesn’t love me; she doesn’t like me.”
I replied, “Damn it! Jianjian does like you.”
At that moment, a cold wind blew through, and Zhang Fatty fell silent. His dark eyes appeared even more sinister in the dim light.
Damn it, I can’t believe I was betrayed by this Fatty. I felt particularly uneasy inside.
I shouted at the Evil Being, “Damn it! Hurry up and take out my other eye too; just seeing you all is infuriating.”
The Evil Being grew more excited as my pain increased. He said, “Even if your eyes can’t see, your heart can still perceive.”
In the end, I decided to simply close my mouth and stop talking.
Just before the last eye was gouged out, I glanced at him, and he looked back at me.
I sighed, thinking of Ke'er and my parents.
But humans are such complex beings, bound by so many ties. Suddenly, I looked at him and asked, "Are you also dead?"
His white eyes seemed even purer. After hearing my question, he opened his mouth to speak, but it felt as if there was a layer of glass separating us.
I couldn't hear anything he said. He gave me a pair of magical eyes that allowed me to see many things I had never seen before.
Or perhaps he offered me another world, though this world lingered in my sight for only a brief moment.
He might have given me an answer, but I simply couldn't hear it. I closed my eyes.
Soon, a hand reached out toward me. I knew the Evil Being had come to take my second eye, but I quickly sensed something was wrong because it felt like my soul was being tugged.
I was startled; could the Evil Being be coming for my Soul? I opened my eyes.
To my surprise, it was that person who had pulled my soul out.
Once my soul was extracted, it stood beside him. The Evil Being seemed unaware that my soul had left my body and proceeded to gouge out my other eye as well.
The Evil Being appeared to be speaking to me, but I could no longer hear what he was saying.
I looked at my body, both of my eyes were gone, and now my face was left with two dark holes. My body was still twitching in pain.
I glanced at him and couldn't help but ask, "Am I dead too?"
He didn't answer me. His hair seemed to have grown a little since the first time I saw him, but his complexion remained the same as before.
Suddenly, he turned to face me and asked, "Do you feel pain?"
I cursed inwardly, Damn it, do you think I'm not in pain? It hurts so much that I don't want to live anymore, and you're asking me such useless questions. I simply replied, "It's excruciating."
Wasn't this question similar to what the Evil Being asked? That perverse Evil Being kept asking me how I felt. My feeling was that I wanted to punch that Evil Being right in the face. Damn it, it's like hitting someone and then asking them if it hurts.
He continued, "Your eyes have been taken from you. What do you plan to do about it?"
My mood was heavy because it wasn't just my eyes that were taken; my best friend had betrayed me. Zhang Fatty's betrayal was something I couldn't accept.
I said to him, "Why did you give me these eyes?"
He stared at me, and in that moment, I felt as if I could see myself through his eyes. I saw my own eyes...
