Then the light suddenly dimmed.
The terrifying atmosphere in the room escalated sharply, but Auntie's eyes shone unusually bright in the darkness; they were blood red.
It looked like a mutated Alpha Wolf in the night.
"Saning, what kind of monster is this?"
I replied, "How would I know? It might be a werewolf."
Slowly, we saw hair sprouting from Auntie's body. My suspicion was confirmed; we had indeed encountered a werewolf.
I said to Wang Wei, "Wang Wei, go and hit it."
Wang Wei glanced at me, his hand holding the phone trembling slightly. I said to him, "Wang Wei, you’re not scared, are you?"
Wang Wei replied, "Saning, this thing eats people!"
Clay Bodhisattva chimed in, "Wang Wei, I used to think you were tough. I didn't expect you to be like this."
Upon hearing that, Wang Wei became agitated and stepped forward quickly. However, as soon as he took a step, I grabbed him and told him to stop because I could already smell blood.
I saw the werewolf gnawing on a bloody hand it had picked up from somewhere.
I felt nauseous; damn, this is what they call a beauty?
Needless to say, this werewolf wanted to eat us. I instructed Wang Wei to open the door. He hesitated for a moment, but the werewolf quickly reacted with a roar and lunged at me.
I sidestepped and threw a punch directly at it. My fist glowed as the rapidly dispersing Light Spot struck the werewolf squarely.
The werewolf let out another roar, and this time I took the initiative to attack. If it wanted to eat someone, it had picked the wrong person. I quickly reacted and charged forward, throwing a punch at the werewolf.
However, the werewolf was incredibly fast. It darted behind me and slashed my back with its claws, pain shooting through me almost instantly.
I turned around, calling out for Wang Wei, but I couldn't open the door.
Ignoring Wang Wei, I reached back to feel my wound. When I looked, I saw blood; the dim light allowed me to see only the Wolf's General Figure.
But she was quick, constantly shifting positions. Anger surged within me—damn it! She had made me bleed.
As my soul began to leak out, I could see this space more clearly. The soul danced around me, and suddenly I felt a strong wind rushing from behind. I turned and threw a punch, landing it squarely on the werewolf's face.
The werewolf stumbled back and crashed into the wall.
However, this werewolf was tough; it quickly dodged away and vanished from sight. My gaze followed, but its speed was so great that I could only catch a glimpse of a red dot.
In the next moment, I pulled Clay Bodhisattva behind me and threw another punch. This time, the werewolf howled in pain and collapsed to the ground, unable to move.
Wang Wei had stopped trying to open the door and walked over instead. "If you want to harm others, you better choose wisely who you're messing with. Do you even know who we are? You dare stir up trouble on our turf?"
I asked directly, "Why did you attack us?"
The werewolf glared at me with hatred but clearly had no intention of answering. Since she wouldn’t speak, I decided to send her on her way. Anyone who wanted to harm me wouldn’t get off easily.
I stepped closer and asked once more, "Why did you come after us?"
The werewolf stubbornly remained silent. I was ready to finish her off when suddenly a woman's voice shouted, "Stop!"
Then I saw a woman emerging from the ground.
The woman looked no different from an ordinary person, but she was identical to the one in the photograph. She was likely the so-called daughter that the werewolf mentioned.
Using a beauty trap and a ploy of self-sacrifice, she aimed to take our lives. If we were ordinary people, we might have already been killed by them.
I turned my head and said, "Why should I stop?" With that, I threw a punch at the werewolf.
The woman panicked and suddenly burst into tears, her face a picture of sorrow, looking utterly pitiful and evoking sympathy.
She quickly crawled out of the tunnel and soon stood in front of the werewolf.
However, judging by her speed, she was likely not an ordinary person; she could very well be a werewolf too. The woman pleaded, "Please don’t kill my grandmother."
"Can your grandmother kill me?" I retorted.
Damn it, now she was putting on a sob story. If I were lying on the ground right now, would she come out for me?
"My grandmother has her reasons," she insisted.
Wang Wei said, "Stop crying; it's quite pitiful."
I told Wang Wei to get lost. Then I added that her reasons had nothing to do with me.
The woman grew desperate and said, "If you must kill someone, then kill me. Please spare my grandmother."
The werewolf's voice shifted to that of an old lady as it said, "Miss, it’s all Old Woman’s fault; Old Woman deserves to die."
I slowly stood up. I couldn't bear such a scene.
Who dies is just death; what’s there to argue about? Of course, it would be best if no one had to die at all.
I said, "You all can live, as long as you tell me why you targeted us. I can spare your lives."
"Really?" the woman asked.
I nodded.
But at that moment, Clay Bodhisattva said, "You can avoid the death penalty, but you can't escape the living punishment. How about I give you a good beating?"
I was left speechless.
Clay Bodhisattva mumbled something about hitting my face later.
I told Clay Bodhisattva to stop messing around.
The werewolf urged the woman not to speak, but she insisted that there was no time to waste; if she didn't talk, her grandmother would die.
I remained on guard because I knew werewolves were inherently cunning.
"Speak quickly," Clay Bodhisattva urged.
The woman said, "My grandmother wants you to die in my place." After saying this, her voice weakened, and she added, "I’m telling you, you won’t kill me, right?"
I replied that I wasn't that impulsive and encouraged her to continue.
The woman continued, "I am the daughter of the Wolf King of the Wolf Clan. We have guarded the Dragon Vein here for generations, but recently something has gone wrong with the Dragon Vein; it seems to be withering. Therefore, I need to sacrifice my life to restore the Dragon Vein."
I was somewhat confused by this. First of all, I didn't know what the Dragon Vein was. Secondly, if sacrificing a life could rejuvenate it, then why not just do it?
However, it seemed that not everyone was suitable for such a sacrifice.
This woman must have an extraordinary bloodline, the daughter of the Wolf King. But why would I be willing to die for her?
"Is that all?" I asked.
"Yes, that's all." The woman seemed frightened of me; after I finished speaking, she even shrank back a little. I glanced at her but didn’t say anything more.
I instructed Wang Wei to open the door, preparing to leave. I had no interest in this so-called Dragon Vein, even though Chen San and Xiaoru were currently digging for it.
Wang Wei was struggling to open the door for quite some time. I stepped forward and smashed the door down with a punch. Damn it, my hand hurt a bit, but it was bearable.
I stepped outside, where more than ten pairs of red eyes were staring at me—werewolves.
I walked forward, and Wang Wei reminded me to be careful. Simpleton indeed.
The middle-aged man who had led us up the mountain came out and blocked my way, saying, "You can't leave." Now I understood; the entire Burial Dragon Ridge was filled with werewolves.
Damn it, these werewolves hid themselves well; we hadn’t noticed a single clue.
"Why can't I leave?"
"If you leave, the young lady will die."
Wang Wei was furious and said, "If your lady is going to die, do you expect us to take her place? Damn it, are our lives worth less than yours?"
Wang Wei spoke with righteous indignation, nearly rolling up his sleeves to fight.
Clay Bodhisattva also chimed in, "My Saning Brother's life is worth much more than that ugly woman's."
"You can't leave, Princess. It's our faith; she cannot die. If she dies, our entire clan will perish."
"Wang Wei, hit him." Clay Bodhisattva had started to encourage Wang Wei to fight.
Wang Wei looked at the middle-aged man, who appeared to be just an ordinary person. In a moment of impulsive bravery, he charged forward, but the middle-aged man quickly transformed into a werewolf.
His body grew several times larger than before, and Wang Wei hesitated, stepping back.
Seeing Wang Wei retreat, Clay Bodhisattva continued to egg him on, saying, "Wang Wei, if you back down now, you'll be a coward."
Wang Wei cursed under his breath and glanced at me and Clay Bodhisattva with a complex expression, probably thinking that he had never encountered such troublesome teammates before.
With determination, Wang Wei charged again, but within moments he was overpowered. The Middle-Aged Werewolf lifted him off the ground effortlessly.
I was about to step in when Wang Wei shouted, "Saning, don't come over! I want to prove that I'm not someone you can easily bully!"
Wang Wei's words were filled with righteous indignation. I paused my steps and watched him closely. I knew Wang Wei must have some skills; it was just that I had never seen him in action before.
I stood still, observing Wang Wei.
He reached out to strike the Middle-Aged Werewolf but couldn't even get close.
The Middle-Aged Werewolf let out a roar directed at Wang Wei. The sound was so powerful that it made my eardrums vibrate. Wang Wei was knocked back and rolled his eyes in shock.
I felt somewhat speechless.
With his last ounce of strength, Wang Wei called out for help. I sighed and said, "Let him go."
The middle-aged man replied, "I can let him go, but..."
Before he could finish his words, I threw a punch that landed squarely on his cheek. The Middle-Aged Werewolf was knocked to the ground, and Wang Wei fell down as well. I quickly supported Wang Wei.
"Wang Wei said, 'Saning, well done.'
"Damn it," I thought. He had dared to negotiate with me, but the Middle-Aged Werewolf never expected that my punch would bring him down. Enraged and humiliated, he charged at me. I responded with another punch, this time hitting him in the stomach. He coughed up a mouthful of blood, and the power within my fist surged forth.
This must be the strength of the White-Eyed People, I realized suddenly. I understood a truth: in this world, only the strong have the right to speak. If I couldn't defeat the werewolf, I might very well be at their mercy right now.
At that moment, the other werewolves attempted to advance.
However, they were stopped by the Middle-Aged Werewolf, who declared, "We respect our opponents and disdain cowardly tactics."
I was too impatient for words and threw another punch, but this time it missed entirely.
