The thugs likely realized that their visitor was not someone to be trifled with, yet they still wanted to salvage some dignity, especially the fat man who was restrained. He attempted several times to break free from the coffee table but failed each time.
"What gang are you from? Do you know who I am..."
Jin Chengyan had little patience, particularly for people like this. He raised an eyebrow, and the man holding the fat guy tightened his grip. In the quiet room, the sound of bones dislocating echoed, followed by the fat man's agonized scream.
The scream only served to irritate Jin Chengyan further. He called out in a low voice, "A-Shan."
The man named A-Shan, who was controlling the fat guy, understood immediately and pulled a cloth from the table, stuffing it into the fat man's mouth.
Once silence returned, Jin Chengyan slowly spoke, "I'm not part of any gang and I have no authority. But the woman you touched today is off-limits. You crossed a line, and I won't be pleased."
His voice held no inflection, yet it felt chilling. His gaze swept over everyone present in the private room— the fat man's subordinates and the nightclub princesses— all of whom had participated in bullying Jono.
Just look at how terrified Jono was!
"I usually don't hold grudges against people, but when I do, even I get scared." Jin Chengyan moved closer to A-Shan and patted his shoulder. "A-Shan, handle this as you see fit, just as long as it doesn't end in death. Also, I don't want to see these people in Qin Cheng again."
The thugs in the private room listened as Jin Chengyan seemed to indicate he wouldn't pursue matters further. Cold sweat broke out on their brows; what kind of lesson was this if it didn't end in death?
"Understood," A-Shan replied, his grip on the fat man unwavering. The fat man was already sweating profusely from pain and had given up struggling.
Cold and indifferent, Jin Chengyan announced his decisions and then walked over to Jono. When he looked at her, his expression was surprisingly gentle.
Jono remembered that moment clearly; she was certain she wouldn't misinterpret it.
"Can you still walk?" he leaned down and asked her.
Jono couldn't recall whether she nodded or shook her head; her mind was a blur at that moment.
Then Jin Chengyan picked her up effortlessly, carrying her out of the nightclub.
It wasn't until they were seated in Jin Chengyan's Black Bentley that the warm atmosphere inside brought Jono back to reality. She realized she was gripping Jin Chengyan's arm tightly.
"I'm... I'm sorry..." Jono retracted her hand. She really wasn't familiar with him, and thinking about how she had just clung to him made her feel embarrassed.
Jin Chengyan didn't seem to mind; he simply instructed the driver to start the car.
"Where are we going..." Jono asked nervously.
"I'm taking you home. Where else would I take you?"
"No, don't take me home!" Jono exclaimed immediately. Her cheeks were flushed, likely from being hit by that fat guy, and there was blood on her. If her brother saw her waiting outside, he would definitely worry about her. She absolutely could not go home.
"If you're not going home, then where are we going?" Jin Chengyan teased her.
Jono didn't know where she could go. "Anywhere... just put me anywhere," she said helplessly.
Jin Chengyan couldn't help but smile at her predicament. "If you don't mind, you can come to Jin Mansion. It's empty there."
Jono instinctively glanced at Jin Chengyan. This was the person who had mentioned marrying her when they first met, yet since then, he had not brought it up again, instead helping her in various ways.
It was as if Jin Chengyan could see through Jono's thoughts. "I won't force you to do anything you don't want to do. The marriage agreement requires your voluntary signature. And my help is merely an act of kindness; you can think of it that way."
As he spoke, the corners of his mouth lifted slightly. He leaned back in his chair with a relaxed posture, yet there was no hint of arrogance about him.
"Fine..." Jono nodded in defeat, realizing she couldn't argue against Jin Chengyan.
"Does your 'fine' mean you agree to sign the contract, or that you agree to come home with me?"
Was there any essential difference between the two?
Jono's face suddenly flushed.
Jin Chengyan just laughed.
