The car drove into an old mansion and quietly stopped at the entrance. Jin Chengyan got out and extended his hand toward Jono.
His fingers were long and well-defined, and despite the chaos of the night event earlier, Jono had felt the warmth and strength of his grip.
However, now that she was supposed to place her hand in his so directly, she felt a bit flustered. After hesitating for a moment, Jono finally placed her hand in his.
For Jin Chengyan, this was merely a matter of courtesy.
Standing in front of the old mansion, Jono finally understood just how powerful the Jin Family was.
The Jin Mansion was located in the city center. It was said that this area was once slated for demolition to build office buildings, but the Jin Family refused to let their ancestral home be torn down. They firmly stated that no amount of money would persuade them to move.
Since then, the mansion had been preserved peacefully amidst the bustling city, and within a kilometer of Jin Mansion, there were no buildings taller than ten stories, highlighting just how formidable the Jin Family's influence was.
“If you plan to stand outside all night, I wouldn’t mind,” Jin Chengyan teased as he looked at Jono.
Once a pampered heiress, she now seemed almost playfully innocent, as if she had never encountered such things before.
Jono withdrew her gaze and looked toward Jin Chengyan. It appeared that he was somewhat different from the cold and unapproachable persona described in rumors.
She followed Jin Chengyan as they walked inside.
Once inside, Jono suddenly remembered something and grabbed Jin Chengyan's shirt. "Hey, your parents don't live here, do they? Why did you bring me here?" Jono wished he could leave immediately; how had he not thought of this before?
Jin Chengyan, on the other hand, looked at Jono gripping the hem of his shirt, a slight smile playing at the corners of his mouth.
He turned around and walked toward Jono.
The door had already closed, and as Jin Chengyan pressed against him, Jono could only step back until he found himself pinned against the door. Jin Chengyan continued to lean in closer.
In that moment, Jono's breath quickened, as if his heart might leap out of his chest.
Jin Chengyan's hand rested against the door behind him, his deep-set eyes locking onto Jono's slightly flustered face. "What's wrong with meeting the parents-in-law in advance?"
Jono couldn't quite decipher whether he was joking or serious.
She reached out to push him away, but when her hand landed on his shoulder, all she felt was the heat radiating from his skin through his shirt—an intensely warm temperature—and his muscles… were so firm.
Instinctively, Jono tried to retract her hand, but Jin Chengyan caught it.
"Stop messing around; I'm leaving," Jono said, struggling in vain as she allowed Jin Chengyan to hold her hand.
"I'm not messing around. I asked you if you wanted to come home with me, and you agreed." His breath was so close that her face flushed instantly. "Jono, do you know what it means for a woman to go home with a man?"
Jono bit her lip; it hadn't been like this just a moment ago!
"You just saved me. I have nowhere to go, and you said you'd bring me here. How was I supposed to know you had so much on your mind?" The inner monologue was truly rich.
Jin Chengyan smiled at this, masking the captivating expression on his face with a more ordinary demeanor. However, for Jono, who was so close to him, it was still quite a challenge.
Such a man was so outstanding that he felt almost untouchable.
"Well, it's all my fault then! Are you planning to forgive me or not?"
Jono instinctively nodded. Jin Chengyan's attitude was so good that Jono couldn't find any reason to refuse.
"Since you've forgiven me, I'll take you inside to meet your future parents-in-law."
Jin Chengyan pulled Jono toward the living room.
Jono was stunned. Was Jin Chengyan serious?
