Back at the Jin Mansion, half an hour had passed. Under the aggressive demeanor of Jin Chengyan, Ni Yue and Shen Fengye left the Jin Hua Residence in a state of disarray.
The first thing Jin Chengyan did upon returning to the Jin Mansion was to place the fifty thousand he had just extorted from Ni Yue in front of Jono.
"What do you want me to do with this?" Jono asked, staring at the check on the coffee table. Wasn't this supposed to be for her car repairs? Although she couldn't believe that car repairs could cost as much as fifty thousand, she recalled that when Jin Chengyan demanded five hundred thousand, Ni Yue had no choice but to grit her teeth and comply.
Ni Yue was exactly the kind of person who bullied the weak and feared the strong.
Of course, Jono wasn't saying that Jin Chengyan was a bad person; he was just intimidating and held a powerful position.
To put it bluntly, he was still a villain.
Jin Chengyan lazily turned around, looking down at Jono sitting on the sofa. "I really don't know what it feels like to stand there and be humiliated without saying a word."
Jono's heart sank; it turned out he had seen everything.
She looked up at Jin Chengyan with shining eyes. "Did you deliberately crash into Ni Yue's car? Just to help me vent my anger?" Her gaze sparkled with joy, an emotion threatening to burst forth.
After her bankruptcy, everyone avoided her; no one offered any help, and she had to handle everything on her own! Yet now, a man named Jin Chengyan had not only stood up for her when she was bullied by her former friend but had also managed to extort fifty thousand for her!
Jin Chengyan felt something stir within him as he watched the stars seemingly twinkling in her eyes. In the next moment, he averted his gaze.
"Anyone driving would crash into a car that suddenly stopped in front of them while turning," he explained casually. "I have another meeting this afternoon, and my car got hit. I still need A-Shan to pick me up..."
His voice grew softer until it faded away after he went upstairs.
Jono couldn't help but laugh. Jin Chengyan was just... adorably handsome. He was wearing loungewear to go out for a meeting in the afternoon, clearly to see her. And with his vengeful nature, he was simply too charming.
She had been worried about how to return the pressure Ni Yue had put on her, but when Jin Chengyan appeared, Ni Yue was thrown into chaos. Having Jin Chengyan by her side would be an unbeatable advantage!
Suddenly, Jono halted her thoughts.
When she had entered earlier, she noticed the teacup she had left on the table before she left, along with the vase, had been knocked to the floor, shattering into pieces and spilling water everywhere. She cleaned it up before Jin Chengyan returned.
Although Jin Chengyan said nothing, she could clearly sense that his collision with Ni Yue's car had a venting aspect to it.
Perhaps it was due to troubles in his romantic life; there seemed to be issues between him and Ruan Shengyu.
And he also realized that Jin Chengyan was a man with a woman. Jono's marriage would end after four years.
As Jono thought about this, she sensed something was off. Why did she feel an emptiness inside when contemplating the end of this marriage? It shouldn't be like this, right?
On Monday at work, Jono received a phone call from someone wanting to buy a house! And they wanted to purchase as many as eighty units all at once!
Jono was overjoyed. Previously, when she called, the other party had rejected her without a second thought. To her surprise, just a few days later, they changed their minds! She immediately prepared the sales contract and went to their company the next day to sign the letter of intent.
A significant matter had been settled in Jono's mind, and those in the company who wanted to get rid of her were left with no options!
