“Slap—” Ruan Shengyu struck Ni Yue across the face. This was the first time she had seen Ni Yue since the incident at the hotel.
“Ruan Shengyu, you—” Ni Yue knew Ruan Shengyu would be angry, but she never expected her to hit her so directly.
“I said we would cooperate, but that doesn’t mean you can treat me like a fool! If my manager hadn’t shown up in time that day, my reputation would have been tarnished! Don’t tell me this was part of your plan!” They had originally agreed to let the two men deal with Jono.
Little did she know that Ni Yue had also tampered with her drink.

Ni Yue covered her face. “I didn’t intend for those two to actually hurt you. In the end, you were fine, weren’t you? But look at it now; Jin Shao is clearly no longer with Jono, and he even retaliated against her!”
Ruan Shengyu thought for a moment; her sources had indeed told her that Jin Chengyan hadn’t contacted Jono in days.
“I know Jin Shao likes you. Whether Jono is innocent or not has nothing to do with him. But you are different; you are someone Jin Shao cares about. If Jono tries to frame you, Jin Shao will definitely make her pay dearly.” Ni Yue understood how to manipulate emotions.
With that said, Ruan Shengyu felt it made sense.
She naturally believed that in Jin Chengyan’s heart, there was only her. If she were harmed, those who harmed her would not have a good ending.
“Don’t worry; I’ve arranged everything for what comes next. Jono won’t escape.” Ni Yue said with a cold smile.
Ruan Shengyu remained silent, which was taken as agreement.
Ni Yue left, and Xu Lin looked at Ruan Shengyu with some concern, advising, "Shengyu, Ni Yue is not a good person. We don't need to cooperate with her. No matter what, don't make things worse."
However, Ruan Shengyu seemed not to hear and simply said, "I know you were sent by Ayan. I didn't avoid you regarding what just happened. If you want to tell him about it, I won't stop you."
"How could that be!" Xu Lin exclaimed in shock, immediately denying it.
As soon as she finished speaking, the doorbell rang. Ruan Shengyu thought it was Ni Yue returning.
When Xu Lin opened the door, she was surprised to find Jin Chengyan standing there, her expression becoming even more awkward.
"Jin Shao has arrived; I'll take my leave now..." Xu Lin quickly grabbed her bag and left without daring to stay a moment longer.
Jin Chengyan watched Xu Lin leave in confusion and frowned as he stepped inside.
"What are you..." Ruan Shengyu began to speak but then saw Jin Chengyan and swallowed her words. "Didn't you say you wouldn't come?"
She pouted and sat cross-legged on the sofa, ignoring Jin Chengyan.
Jin Chengyan took off his suit jacket and walked toward Ruan Shengyu, seemingly planning to stay for a while.
"Have you eaten dinner? What do you want to eat? I can make it for you."
"I wouldn't dare trouble Jin Shao to cook."
Jin Chengyan rubbed his temples, sitting beside Ruan Shengyu and wrapping an arm around her shoulders. "Alright, don't be angry. I'm here to apologize, isn't that enough?"
Ruan Shengyu shifted away. "I can't accept that. Jin Shao is a person of great stature; apologizing to someone like me, a third-rate celebrity, is truly too much. You should hurry and accompany your top-tier star or that little internet celebrity, lest they get upset."
Jin Chengyan chuckled. "Even if that movie is finished, I have no intention of letting it see the light of day. After all, she went against us, Shengyu. As for that little internet celebrity, I should at least let my parents know I have a companion, so they won't set me up on blind dates."
Ruan Shengyu remained skeptical.
Jin Chengyan seemed to have no other choice. Leaning back on the sofa, he said, "If I continue being single, I might end up like Yan San, being forced by his grandfather to go on blind dates."
Ruan Shengyu froze for a moment.
