Jono had not slept well all night and woke up early in the morning, tiptoeing out of the room, hoping to leave before Jin Chengyan got up.
To his surprise, he had already dressed and was holding his bag when he saw Jin Chengyan collapsed at the door, his brow slightly furrowed.
Jono initially intended to sidestep Jin Chengyan and head out directly, but seeing the troubled expression on his face, he crouched down and gently patted Jin Chengyan's shoulder.
"Jin Chengyan, get up and go sleep in the room," Jono said, noticing that his complexion was slightly flushed. He couldn't help but reach out to touch his cheek, which felt very hot.
Jin Chengyan frowned and grasped Jono's hand that was resting on his face.
Startled, Jono feared that Jin Chengyan might repeat what had happened the previous night and desperately pulled his hand away from Jin Chengyan's grip.
"Cough cough... I feel terrible..." Jin Chengyan spoke with a hoarse voice. Jono had just touched his forehead, and it was indeed burning hot.
Now, as he held her hand, the heat radiating from him was alarming.
It seemed he had caught a chill from sleeping here last night.
"Who told you to sleep here?" Jono muttered softly as she set her bag down. She couldn't leave Jin Chengyan alone like this; if he had a fever, no one would know.
At that moment, Jin Chengyan was surprisingly compliant. Realizing someone was there to help him up, he leaned against Jono but didn't put all his weight on her.
"I'll take you back to your room first, and then I'll have A-Shan find a doctor for you. I know you're not one to go to the hospital," Jono said as she draped Jin Chengyan's arm over her shoulder, using all her strength to help him up.
Step by step, she guided him upstairs and laid him down on the bed.
Immediately, she picked up the phone in Jin Chengyan's room and called A-Shan, informing him that Jin Chengyan was sick. A-Shan assured her that a doctor would be there shortly.
After finishing these tasks, Jono felt it was about time.
However, Jin Chengyan was still wearing yesterday's clothes, and the mixed scent of cigarettes and alcohol clung to him. Lying on the bed, he kept tugging at his shirt, looking truly uncomfortable.
Taking a deep breath, she thought to herself that enough was enough. She rolled up her sleeves and approached Jin Chengyan to help him out of his clothes.
"Cough cough..." Jin Chengyan coughed violently, his face turning even redder from the effort.
Jono could only quicken her movements, removing his shirt and... his pants.
She reasoned that since she had already seen him fully before—more than once—there was nothing embarrassing about undressing him now.
Yet, seeing Jin Chengyan's flawless physique so closely made her heart race and cheeks flush with every glance.
Jono averted her eyes, pulling the blanket over Jin Chengyan's body.
She then went to the bathroom to fetch a warm towel to wipe his face... and his body.
The more she wiped, the redder Jono felt her face grow. This was truly her first time being so close to a man and taking care of him like this.
At that moment, Jin Chengyan opened his eyes. In his dazed state, he saw someone.
"Jono..." Jin Chengyan frowned slightly, feeling a throbbing pain in his head, unable to recall what had happened.
Jono immediately stood up straight, hiding the towel she had been using to wipe him behind her back. Fortunately, he did not mistake her for someone else this time.
"It's me. You're sick. I changed your clothes and called A-Shan. The doctor will be here soon," Jono explained honestly.
Jin Chengyan nodded slightly. He could remember that yesterday he had been at Ruan Shengyu's place, but then they had talked about Yan Beiting, and things had ended badly. How he ended up at the bar to drown his sorrows and how he got back here was all a blur to him.
