"Smash—"
As Jono reached the door, he heard a furious shout from inside the room, followed by the sound of a phone being thrown onto the floor.
Jono shrank his neck, thinking that this was the second phone Jin Chengyan had smashed since they met!
Why does this person always take it out on his phone?
"Knock, knock, knock..." Jono freed one hand to knock on the door. Although he wasn't sure if entering like this would get him thrown out by Jin Chengyan as well, he bravely knocked anyway.
"Get lost—" Jin Chengyan shouted angrily, clearly not wanting to see anyone.
But looking at the steaming porridge on the tray and the medicine that Dr. Qi insisted he must take, Jono could only push the door open and go in.
Sure enough, Jono saw Jin Chengyan sitting on the bed with a pale face and an angry expression. He noticed someone was coming in and thought it was A-Shan. Just as he was about to curse, he saw Jono and swallowed his words.
It seemed he had no intention of venting his anger on Jono.
Jono felt relieved and said, "Didn't you say you were hungry? Since you're sick, I made you some porridge. And I brought the medicine that Dr. Qi insisted you must take... Even if you're angry, you should eat something..."
He placed the tray on the bedside table and stood up straight. After saying all this, Jono didn't know what to do next.
Should she just leave, or stay and watch him eat his porridge and take his medicine before leaving?
But thinking back to how Jin Chengyan had been so forceful with her last night, even if he mistook her for someone else, Jono still felt a knot in her heart.
She didn't want to be someone else's substitute, not even when he was drunk.
Yet, seeing Jin Chengyan like this now, it seemed he couldn't remember what had happened last night.
Had he forgotten about it, or did he simply not want to bring it up?
Jono chose to believe the former.
"Water," Jin Chengyan said, his brow slightly furrowed, his voice still a bit hoarse.
But just moments ago, he had been shouting so robustly at the person on the other end of the phone!
Jono pouted, realizing as she looked at Jin Chengyan's outstretched hand that he wanted her to fetch him some water! But the distance from the head cabinet to him was barely half a meter!
When the expected water didn't arrive, Jin Chengyan lifted his head and shot her a slight glare.
Only then did Jono reluctantly pick up the water from the tray and hand it over to Jin Chengyan.
"By the way, thank you for not retaliating against me. Qiao Chen has already gone to school, so you probably choose to believe that I am innocent in this matter with Ruan Shengyu. I've always said that I have nothing to fear when I'm in the right. I have no grievances with Ruan Shengyu, and I wouldn't go against a girl just for you."
Listening to Jono's words, Jin Chengyan suddenly raised his head, his gaze sharp as he looked at Jono.
"Oh? Then who would you do such things for? Shen Fengye?" The sick Jin Chengyan seemed to speak even more harshly.
Clearly, she and Shen Fengye had long since severed ties; why was he bringing it up now?
"Don't bring up things that shouldn't be mentioned. I'm letting it slide because you're sick, but you need to rest. I have to go to work," Jono thought it best to keep her distance from the current Jin Chengyan.
Jin Chengyan was sure that Jono's change of topic was just a cover-up, and he called out to her.
"Jono, I don't remember if I've told you this before, but since you are now my legal wife, keep your distance from other men." Jin Chengyan's cold voice reached Jono's ears.
"Uh?" Jono couldn't grasp what Jin Chengyan was getting at.
"Yan Beiting." The three words that came out of his mouth sounded particularly awkward to Jono.
