Yan Beiting was supposed to have dinner with Jono. Initially, she had refused, but it seemed that Jono was not the one in charge of the decision. He had already made a reservation at a restaurant and brought her there directly, even ordering the dishes in advance.
In the end, Jono found himself sitting across from Yan Beiting, feeling somewhat awkward.
"Your father's situation... has been handled properly, right?" Yan Beiting poured a glass of warm water for Jono. He dismissed the waiter from the private room, leaving just the two of them, which made the conversation feel less uncomfortable.
"Yes, it's all sorted out. Thank you for your concern." It was rather amusing; none of those who were supposed to show concern had come, while those who were unrelated had come to offer their condolences.
"I intended to visit you a couple of days ago, but I thought you had a lot on your plate and I might not be able to help much, so I postponed it until today."
Jono nodded. Although he didn't understand why Yan Beiting felt the need to say that—after all, he didn't think it was something she should be involved in—they were merely acquaintances.
"You know, Ayan and I have been good friends since childhood."
Jono didn't quite grasp what Yan Beiting was trying to convey, so he could only shake his head. Besides, it didn't seem like Yan Beiting and Jin Chengyan shared many years of friendship.
What kind of good friends would end up fighting when they met after so many years?
"Six years ago, I went to America. You were young then and probably don't remember what happened back then. I went to America because of Ayan and didn’t return for six years. And Ayan... had to let me go because of someone else."
At this point in her story, Jono began to understand much more—the tale of two men and one woman.
He recognized both male protagonists; thus, the other female protagonist was likely Ruan Shengyu.
"Actually... you don't need to tell me all this. I'm not really interested, and it doesn't concern me," Jono shrugged. This was their story—the three of them—and had nothing to do with her as an outsider.
Yan Beiting smiled, and when he did, he looked incredibly handsome, giving off a comforting aura. His complete lack of guard made Jono feel a bit petty.
Perhaps Yan Beiting simply wanted to share their past with her.
"Ayan has someone he loves very much, and I also have someone I deeply care for."
"Mm..." Jono nodded, already able to guess the story of the three of them: Jin Chengyan loved Ruan Shengyu, Ruan Shengyu had feelings for Yan Beiting, and Yan Beiting loved someone else.
It was truly a vicious cycle where no one could attain true love.
"The girl I love..."
Jono watched as Yan Beiting spoke about his little girl, his eyes filled with nothing but deep affection.
In the past, Jono thought that wealthy young men only played with emotions. Back when she was still Miss Qiao, she encountered many such individuals.
However, after meeting Jin Chengyan and Yan Beiting, she realized that there were indeed men with genuine feelings among them.
"After six years, when I saw her again, I realized that I might love her even more than I had imagined."
"Wishing you both happiness," Jono sincerely wished him well.
"Thank you, we will be."

"I'm sorry, Miss Ruan. That private room has been canceled for outside guests; it will only be used for one client in the future," the Hotel Manager said apologetically to Ruan Shengyu.
Ruan Shengyu was taken aback. "Which guest?"
"I'm sorry, but this is a matter concerning the Third Young Master, and we cannot disclose any information," the manager replied, maintaining a respectful demeanor.
Ruan Shengyu fell silent and walked towards another private room. The door was slightly ajar, allowing her to see the entrance of Yan Beiting's room.
About half an hour later, Ruan Shengyu watched as Yan Beiting emerged from the private room with a girl.
Six years ago at the airport, Ruan Shengyu had desperately tried to hold onto him.
He had told her, "The person I love is not you, and it never will be."
She knew there was someone in his heart, but no one had ever seen that person. She had always thought it was just an excuse he used to brush her off.
Now it was finally confirmed; that was indeed Yan Beiting's excuse for her. Otherwise, why would he treat Jono so well?
