Jono let out a light laugh, which caught Jin Chengyan's attention.
He took two or three steps toward her and stared intently.
Before he could speak, Jono beat him to it. "I didn't expect that you married me just for this. If you had clearly explained the rules to me from the beginning, I would have done everything in my power to make your Jin Family believe I was a bad woman, and that the only one worthy of you, Jin Chengyan, was Ruan Shengyu!"
Hearing Jono's words, Jin Chengyan frowned slightly.
He had considered using this method; after all, Jono was short on money, and she would definitely do it for the sake of cash. However, he later changed his mind. He didn't want to turn a woman into a shield; he felt he wasn't that much of a jerk.
Yet what Jono said now was truly embarrassing.

However, seeing Jin Chengyan's expression as if he had been deflated made her inexplicably happy.
"Since you know your place, just cooperate with me! If you breach the contract, you'll owe a hefty penalty. Right now, even if you went out to sell yourself, no one might want you," Jin Chengyan said as he scanned Jono from head to toe. His blatant gaze made her feel uncomfortable all over.
"I will definitely cooperate with you, Jin Shao; after all, you're my benefactor!" Jono smiled sweetly. "But I wonder how you want me to cooperate? Should I go in there and throw a tantrum or pretend we’re in love? If you don’t clarify, I really won’t know how to cooperate because it seems your father prefers me over your rumored actress girlfriend..."
Before Jono could finish her sentence, Jin Chengyan's hand tightened around her neck, making it hard for her to breathe!
"You have no right to say that about Shengyu!" He hated hearing the word "actress." He couldn't help it when his father said it, but as for Jono, he had plenty of ways to teach her a lesson.
Jono's face flushed instantly. Due to his grip, her feet slightly lifted off the ground just enough to prevent suffocation from his merciless hold.
She grabbed Jin Chengyan's wrist, trying to pull his hand away. At that moment, her will to survive was incredibly strong, especially when she saw the murderous intent in his eyes.

Jono felt the grip on her hand loosen. She thought Jin Chengyan was genuinely going to kill her! This heartless man—was he planning to destroy the evidence? Would that mean no one would ever know what had happened between them last night?
Finally, Jin Chengyan released his hold, and Jono felt a wave of relief wash over her as she gasped for fresh air.
"Cough... cough..." Jono panted, feeling utterly exasperated.

But when she lifted her head to face Jin Chengyan again, Jono wore an expression that showed she feared nothing.
Her moment of pale fear was fleeting; she reached out and linked her arm with Jin Chengyan's.

Yet Jono smiled brightly and said, "I have to hold onto you as we go in. I want everyone to know how I used every trick in the book to steal you away from Ruan Shengyu. That little rabbit will look pitiful in front of your family. When the time comes for you to want a divorce, your family won't oppose it! If I'm not mistaken, your family has zero tolerance for divorce, right?"
Jono had hit the nail on the head because Jin Zhongshu adored his wife. He was a rare good man who insisted that the men in their family must remain loyal to their wives; divorce was absolutely not allowed in the Jin Family.
Everything Jin Chengyan was doing now was challenging Jin Zhongshu's bottom line!
Jin Chengyan frowned; Jono had him firmly in a vulnerable position.

"It seems this is the only way to prove you really have the ability to win a man back," he said, holding her tightly. From behind, they looked like a couple deeply in love.
Yet only they knew how much they were at odds with each other.
Jin Chengyan embraced Jono in the main hall of the villa, once again shocking everyone present.
With just Jono's efforts alone, she managed to bring back Jin Chengyan, who had gone after Ruan Shengyu!
This Jono, who seemed harmless, turned out to be quite formidable! She even managed to pull back a stubborn man like Jin Chengyan!

If she hadn't heard what Jin Chengyan said to Ruan Shengyu, she would have vehemently denied doing anything wrong. However, now that she was aware of Jin Chengyan's intentions, denying it would mean going against him.
"Yes," Jono replied in a low voice, and she could almost hear the light scoff coming from Jin Chengyan standing beside her.
At that moment, everyone in the living room looked at Jono in surprise.
Wasn't this girl's method a bit too ruthless? A woman's reputation was such an important matter, yet she was willing to destroy another person's honor for a man. It was simply... outrageous!
Jono stood there motionless, accepting their scrutinizing gazes.
"Hey..." Jin Zhongshu turned his head to glance at his wife, seemingly asking how to handle the situation.
Mrs. Jin had been cold ever since Jin Chengyan mentioned not wanting to be the heir of the Jin Family. Now her eyes swept over both Jin Chengyan and Jono.
"Deserve it!" Mrs. Jin said coldly. "That kind of promiscuous woman only started targeting Jono now! Jin Chengyan, remember this: Jono is your wife now. If you do anything that brings shame to the Jin Family or embarrasses Jono, the warning I just gave still stands!"
The mother who used to always support Jin Chengyan and even spoke up for him in front of his father was genuinely angry now, showing no mercy whatsoever.
Jin Zhongshu raised an eyebrow, noticing that his wife had tacitly accepted Jono's approach, so he chose not to say anything.
