Two hours ago.
In Yan Beiting's apartment, he did not want to get out of bed today, did not want to turn on the television, and did not want to know about Jono and Jin Chengyan getting married.
He could already imagine how grand the wedding would be for this unique heir in the near future, even though Jin Chengyan loved someone else—Ruan Shengyu.
But how could his marriage possibly end with just a media announcement?
And what could he do now to make Jono leave Jin Chengyan?
Should he tell Jono that six years ago, he returned to his alma mater as an honored graduate to give a speech? Afterward, while wandering around the school, he stumbled upon Jono's class in the gymnasium.
That Jono, dressed in a sports T-shirt and shorts, stood out so much on the volleyball team that she instantly caught his eye.
Unknowingly, he watched the entire match from the second-floor viewing platform. Of course, Jono's team won. She smiled brilliantly among her teammates, and in that lazy afternoon, Yan Beiting felt like the whole world had been illuminated.
He heard her classmates call her—Jono.
Thus, he remembered that name.
And he had remembered it for six long years.
Suddenly, his phone rang without warning, incessantly disturbing Yan Beiting's attempts to sleep. He picked it up to see it was his assistant, Ye Yun, calling.
He had clearly told him not to disturb him today, yet here was a call.
Just as he was about to hang up, Yan Beiting hesitated with his finger hovering over the decline button. Perhaps there was something important.
"Third Young Master, I was just chatting with a media friend of mine. He mentioned he has a major scandal involving Jin Shao and said it relates to the press conference they are holding today. Since it's about Jin Shao, I thought I should let you know. The information has already been sent to your email."
Still in bed, Yan Beiting immediately got up upon hearing Ye Yun's words. He walked to the study and opened his computer, where he found an email from Ye Yun.
As he clicked it open, Yan Beiting's brow furrowed slightly.
If this information were to be leaked, Jin Chengyan would undoubtedly be in deep trouble, and many people would be involved, including himself.
"Do you know who sent it?" Yan Beiting asked as he browsed through the contents, his thoughts drifting away.
"Well... they have their professional ethics and didn't disclose that to me. However, in my opinion, it should be one of Jin Shao's competitors trying to set him up," Ye Yun replied.
Yan Beiting fell into a long silence.
"Third Young Master, are you still there? I’ve got the information now. Should we destroy it quickly or...?" Ye Yun knew that even after all these years, despite Yan Beiting being abroad, Jin Chengyan had never ceased their subtle rivalry.
Both had their victories and defeats, though most of the time it was their Yan San who lost.
Ye Yun understood that Yan Beiting didn’t want to escalate matters with Jin Chengyan, so he was willing to concede when possible.
But Ye Yun was frustrated; why should Jin Chengyan treat their Third Young Master this way?
Shouldn’t they at least have some leverage to fight back?
With this information in hand, they could certainly deal a significant blow to Jin Chengyan's arrogance.
Yan Beiting closed the document and deleted the email as well. He then walked towards the cloakroom.
"Let’s pretend we don’t know about this matter," Yan Beiting finally spoke up.
Ye Yun readily agreed, believing that their Third Young Master was preparing for a counterattack. This was a great opportunity!
"Then we need to prioritize our collaboration with the Ji Family in C City. The Jin Family has been looking into this project recently, if..."
"Don't meddle in other matters. We won't be collaborating with the Ji Family either, understood?" Yan Beiting said as he picked out a blue striped shirt and a black suit.
"Third Young Master!" This was a great opportunity, and Ye Yun certainly didn't want to miss it, but he couldn't believe that Yan Beiting was doing nothing!
Before hanging up the phone, Yan Beiting warned, "Don't do anything behind my back that I wouldn't approve of; the consequences will be severe."
With that, he hung up and quickly finished getting dressed.
On the other end of the line, Ye Yun was puzzled. Their Third Young Master wasn't someone to be easily bullied; why did he always seem to bow his head in front of Jin Chengyan?
Moreover, the Yan Family wasn't any worse than the Jin Family. Why did they always seem to fall short? Couldn't they stand their ground and surpass the Jin Family for once?
Meanwhile, Yan Beiting finished dressing, grabbed his car keys, and prepared to leave.
As he waited for the elevator, he felt that something was off.
Who sold that information to the reporters?
Who wanted to strike a blow against Jin Chengyan?
And who benefited the most from that information being exposed?
All he could think about was that if that information got out, Jono would undoubtedly suffer a lot.

"Jin Shao, today you announced some good news. Why are you here alone? Where is your wife?" A reporter couldn't help but ask as he looked at Jin Chengyan standing alone on stage.
As soon as one reporter raised the question, the others quickly followed suit, all asking Jin Chengyan, "Where has your wife gone?"
Could it be that they were just trying to fool everyone?
Standing at the side of the stage, Alice and several employees from the Jin Family felt a bit anxious for their boss. Indeed, they had called so many media representatives over, yet only their boss was on stage!
It wouldn't be good to offend those media outlets.
However, standing on stage, Jin Chengyan smiled calmly, seemingly unfazed by the absence of the main character at the press conference.
He cleared his throat, adjusted the microphone, and began to speak. "Yes, I am here today to announce some happy news, but where is my wife?"
As soon as Jin Chengyan finished speaking, laughter erupted from the reporters below; even the photographer couldn't help but chuckle.
How could this usually serious CEO be so humorous today?
"Well..." Jin Chengyan continued, and nearly a hundred media outlets fell silent, listening intently to every word he said, not wanting to miss anything. "The driver who went to pick up my wife just informed me that she is feeling a bit unwell and may not be able to attend the press conference today. However, my marital status is a fact that cannot be changed. Here is our marriage certificate."
As he spoke, Jin Chengyan held up two red marriage certificates in front of him. He even opened them up so that the high-resolution cameras could capture clear images of the two people in the photos.
Flashes were going off continuously; this witness Qin Cheng had turned clouds into rain and was the top choice for many women’s ideal prince charming... The moment of being married was truly exhilarating!
From this point forward, how many women would weep bitterly? Their prince charming had become someone else's beloved.
The sound of shutters clicking filled the air as Jin Chengyan generously displayed everything except for his identification number, which he covered with his hand. He seemed eager to announce to the world that he was now a married man.
"Jin Shao, is Mrs. Jin unwell because she might be pregnant? Are you two getting married because of an unexpected blessing?" another reporter seized this joyous occasion to ask a question that Jin Chengyan would have never answered before.
Jin Chengyan maintained a warm smile on his face as he tucked away the marriage certificate into the pocket of his suit jacket, close to his heart.
"You ask this question, and I really don't want to answer," Jin Chengyan said, a smile creeping onto his face. "However, both my wife and I are conservative people, so..." there won't be any shotgun wedding.
"Then, Jin Shao, could you introduce your wife? It would help all the female fans to completely let go of their hopes."
This was, of course, the primary concern for everyone—who was the young lady that had captured Jin Shao's heart, marrying into a wealthy family and enjoying a life of luxury from then on?
Not only the media present but also the men and women glued to their screens at home were very curious.
In the lounge, Ruan Shengyu tightly clutched her skirt, her knuckles turning white. Thankfully, they were in the lounge; if anyone saw her in this state, it would spark another round of discussions.
Inside the Black Bentley, the car's television was also broadcasting the live event. Jono watched Jin Chengyan on the screen, calm and composed, showing no signs of distress despite her absence.
Jono glanced at the person outside the car smoking and couldn't help but sigh.

The scene shifted back to Jin Building.
Jin Chengyan looked out at the multitude of media below; it was time for everyone to know—no, for her to know—that Jono was his legal wife and that she was nothing.
"Jono, my wife, surname Qiao, given name Nuo." As Jin Chengyan spoke, a projection behind him displayed a photo of Jono—a picture taken during her six-month study abroad in England.
Dressed in a collegiate outfit, she sat on the lawn at Cambridge reading. A classmate called out to her, and as she looked up from her book, this candid shot was captured.
With her ponytail swaying, she appeared youthful and vibrant, radiating an energetic aura.
Among all the photos of Jono that Jin Chengyan had, he had chosen this one at first glance.
"Isn't this... Miss Qiao from the Qiao Family that went bankrupt recently?" someone remarked, and suddenly everyone understood Miss Qiao's identity.
A murmur spread through the audience.
Why did Jin Chengyan choose a daughter from a bankrupt family? And why didn’t the Jin Family lend a hand when the Qiao Family went bankrupt? How did these two even meet...
There were so many questions everyone wanted to ask!
"I know you have many questions, but my marriage to Jono is already a settled fact. As for my wife's family, I would prefer if you didn't pry too much; I don't want to cause her any unnecessary trouble..."
Before Jin Chengyan could finish his words, another wave of restlessness swept through the crowd.
Almost simultaneously, everyone pulled out their phones, scrolling through the information displayed.
Just seconds later, a reporter inquired from the audience, "Jin Shao, the actress Ruan Shengyu has been your girlfriend for many years. You two haven't broken up yet, right?"
