The little girl seemed unbothered by Jasper's reprimand, pouting as she said, "I didn't do it on purpose."
With her attitude, Jasper found it difficult to continue scolding her. However, facing Jin Chengyan's wife, he couldn't just let it go.

"Jono?" At that moment, Jin Chengyan walked over. He was clearly surprised by Jono's arrival, but his expression darkened slightly when he noticed her extravagant dress.

"Sorry, Xining was being mischievous and bumped into Mrs. Jin," Jasper said as he turned to Jin Chengyan. He then pulled Xining closer. "Aren't you going to apologize?"
Jin Chengyan wasn't one to nitpick over such matters, and he had long heard how the Ji family doted on their youngest daughter. There was no way they would make her genuinely apologize.
"It's fine. Let's have Miss Ji change into something more appropriate first! The banquet is about to start," Jin Chengyan suggested lightly.
In truth, he was utterly tired of such gatherings, mingling with a bunch of unfamiliar faces. He despised the Ji family even more.
Jasper's name sounded warm and inviting, but the man himself was nothing short of cunning and deceitful, just like that other one... Yan Beiting—both were hypocrites!
While they could chat amiably here in the banquet hall, outside lay the cutthroat world of business where no kindness existed.
"Then I'll excuse myself for now." With that, Jasper took Xining away to change her clothes.
As she was leaving, Jono caught sight of Xining sticking her tongue out at her, the little girl looking quite adorable.
On the other hand, Jasper gave Jono a deep glance, indicating his approval of her dress with a hint of praise, as if to say he had good taste and knew that Jono would look great in that gown.
Jono could only respond awkwardly with a smile.
This smile caught the attention of Jin Chengyan.
He stepped forward, positioning himself between Jono and Jasper's gazes.
"What are you doing here?" Jin Chengyan asked gruffly.
Jono then withdrew her gaze and looked at Jin Chengyan. She was about to speak when she remembered that Sun Wen was still nearby.
Sun Wen, perceptive as ever, quickly excused himself, saying he had spotted a friend. This left only Jono and Jin Chengyan together.
Others were busy watching Jin Chengyan converse with his wife, naturally hesitant to interrupt, which afforded the two some rare quiet time.
"Do you know Jasper?" Noticing the earlier exchange between Jono and Jasper, he speculated that they might be acquainted.
"I don't know him, but I would like to."
Jin Chengyan's brow twitched. This woman!
"Well, Ruan Shengyu and Yan Beiting are here together. Are you okay with that?" Jono quickly changed the subject. She had been worried about this, but the earlier distraction caused by Jasper and his sister had prevented her from asking.
Jono really was a source of trouble for Jin Chengyan, bringing up topics best left untouched!
Jin Chengyan's gaze drifted past Jono to where Yan Beiting and Ruan Shengyu were chatting amiably.
Six years ago, Ruan Shengyu had asked Jin Chengyan if she and Yan Beiting looked particularly well-matched standing together. Yet, all those years, they had never had the chance to stand side by side.
Who would have thought that six years later, her wish would finally come true?
"What do I have to be concerned about? I won’t forget that I’m a married man now." As he spoke, Jin Chengyan placed Jono's hand on his arm, encouraging her to link it with him.
Jono opened her mouth slightly, wanting to say something, but looking at Jin Chengyan's expression left her speechless.
He looked… angry.
Because he saw Ruan Shengyu and Yan Beiting standing together.
He claimed not to be upset, yet his face told a different story.
Jin Chengyan, do you really need to be so obvious?
Jono let out a bitter smile. What was she even hoping for?
She linked her arm with Jin Chengyan's, a breathtaking smile blooming on her face.
She was already beautiful, especially her pair of eyes, glistening with a watery sheen, embodying both innocence and allure. With the trendiest lip-biting makeup, a gentle nibble seemed capable of drawing blood!
"You think if I act close to you, Ruan Shengyu will get jealous?" She tilted her head, playfully gazing at Jin Chengyan.
As Jin Chengyan lowered his head, he caught sight of Jono's enchanting face.
She had a captivating visage; just a slight smile could make anyone lose their composure.
He lightly lifted Jono's chin with one hand. "You're too nosy."
Their whispered conversation was inaudible to outsiders, but to anyone watching, they appeared to be a loving couple, making everyone else in the banquet hall fade into the background.
Especially the couple who had just entered: Yan Beiting and Ruan Shengyu.
Not far away, Yan Beiting stopped chatting with some indifferent guests and took Ruan Shengyu's hand, making his way toward Jin Chengyan and Jono without a care in the world.
Ruan Shengyu could feel the strength of Yan Beiting's grip on her hand.
They both shared the same sentiment; they couldn't stand the sight of that couple across from them being affectionate in public.
In no time, Yan Beiting approached, greeting Jin Chengyan.
"Ayan, long time no see." Yan Beiting suddenly broke the affectionate moment between Jono and Jin Chengyan. He glanced at Jono but ultimately didn't linger on her for too long.
Perhaps, he was afraid.
Such a beautiful person, the longer he looked, the harder it was to look away.
Jin Chengyan let out a light huff. Forget about long time no see; only someone as hypocritical as Yan Beiting could say such a thing.
Of course, Jin Chengyan wouldn't show a dark face to Yan Beiting in a place like this. He didn't want his matters exposed to so many onlookers.
"Yes, long time no see," Jin Chengyan replied with a feigned smile. Wasn't it just a competition of who was more hypocritical? If Yan Beiting could do it, so could he.
He provocatively pulled Jono into his embrace. Others might not know, but Jin Chengyan certainly did!
This hypocritical man liked Jono!
So he had to show off his possession of Jono in front of Yan Beiting, making him feel hurt!
To this, Yan Beiting could only think three words... so childish.
"Surprised to see me standing next to Shengyu?" Yan Beiting didn't act particularly close to Ruan Shengyu. "She is our company's newly signed spokesperson."
"Miss Ruan's career seems to be smooth sailing; being able to represent Yan Fei is quite an achievement," Jin Chengyan scoffed lightly.
When Jin Chengyan initially asked Ruan Shengyu to be the spokesperson for the Jin Family's cosmetics line, she never gave a straightforward answer. It wasn't that she thought poorly of the Jin Family; she simply didn't want to take advantage of Jin Chengyan.
But now, isn’t she taking advantage of Yan Beiting?
This thought left Jin Chengyan feeling quite displeased.
As for the conversation between Jin Chengyan and Yan Beiting, Jono really didn’t want to listen any longer. These two men were truly… fighting over a woman…
Over Ruan Shengyu.
Jono watched Ruan Shengyu, who remained calm throughout, as if the exchange between Jin Chengyan and Yan Beiting had nothing to do with her.
She was indeed a clever woman, not speaking up while two men argued over her, showing no favoritism.
“Thank you for your kind words, Jin Shao.” In front of outsiders, Ruan Shengyu still maintained her distance from Jin Chengyan. “The news from a few days ago has indeed caused some trouble for you, Jin Shao. The entertainment industry is a mixed bag, filled with unsavory dealings behind the scenes. However, I believe this hasn’t affected you too much; you and Mrs. Jin are indeed quite affectionate.”
Ruan Shengyu emphasized the words "Mrs. Jin," venting her dissatisfaction.
“There’s really no trouble at all; it’s just that public relations has a bit more work to do. As long as my marriage is harmonious and my wife and I are loving, what obstacles can’t we overcome?” Jin Chengyan retorted to Ruan Shengyu.
Jono and Yan Beiting both unconsciously rubbed their temples.
The sharp exchanges between these two were truly unparalleled.
"You all continue chatting; I need to use the restroom." Jono pushed away Jin Chengyan's hand that was wrapped around her and walked toward the restroom without waiting for a response.
She couldn't stand Jin Chengyan acting this way, showing affection and rivalry with another woman right in front of her.
As she watched Jono's departing figure, Jin Chengyan withdrew his gaze, only to catch Yan Beiting looking at him with reluctance.
This hypocritical man, displaying such greedy eyes toward his wife in front of him—did he think he was invisible?
"Yan San, your companion is still here!" Jin Chengyan snorted coldly, prompting Yan Beiting to look away.
Yan Beiting had never been one to take things to heart; he approached many matters casually. So when he heard Jin Chengyan's words, he wasn't particularly angry.
"You've always liked the feeling of monopolizing the spotlight. Now that the Ji Family is in Qin Cheng, you seem quite pleased?" With Jono gone, Yan Beiting felt a weight lifted off his chest.
After all, he and Jin Chengyan had grown up together as friends. No matter what happened, they were still brothers at heart.
Even with so many siblings in both the Jin and Yan families, Yan Beiting still believed that he and Jin Chengyan were the best of brothers.
Some things were just too complicated to handle.
"You’re meddling too much," Jin Chengyan replied, not intending to answer Yan Beiting's question.
At that moment, Yan'an City rushed in. Little did he know he would walk straight into this situation. He quickly tried to slip away but was unexpectedly caught by Yan Beiting.
"Where are you running off to, Old Six? Come here!" Yan'an City could only resign himself and walk over.
He grinned at Jin Chengyan and Yan Beiting.
On one side was his cousin by blood, and on the other was a good brother he had grown close to. He had been trying to avoid appearing in places where both of them were present, but he still ended up caught.
"Brother Three, Brother Yan," Yan'an City scratched his head. "Sister Shengyu is here too, hahaha..." His laughter came out a bit awkward.
Seeing all three of them together, Ruan Shengyu smiled brightly and said, "You all chat; I'll excuse myself for a moment."

In the restroom, Jono rolled her eyes at the mirror. She truly hated herself for being so composed on the surface while her heart felt like it was shattering into pieces.
Could she please stop caring so much about Jin Chengyan?
At that moment, Jono noticed Ruan Shengyu walking into the restroom.
