An hour ago, the back door of the Jin Family Mansion slowly opened, and an inconspicuous black sedan drove in, heading straight to the entrance of Jin Zhongshu's villa. Two people, an old man and a young man, got out of the car.
Walking in front was Old Man Yan, assisted by none other than Yan Beiting, the rightful heir of the Yan Family.
Old Master Yan knocked twice on the door, and it was opened from the inside.
However, the person who opened the door was not a servant of the Jin Family but Jin Chengyan!
"Grandpa Yan," Jin Chengyan said as he helped the elderly man inside, being extremely polite as if there had been no rift between their families at all.
Indeed, the Jin Family and Yan Family had not truly fallen out; it was only Jin Chengyan and Yan Beiting who were at odds. The two represented their respective companies, refusing to cooperate and constantly trying to undermine each other, plunging both companies into chaos!
Yet, they could still manage to be in the same room together.
"Zhongshu, how have you been feeling?" Old Master Yan asked as he sat by the bedside, looking at Jin Zhongshu lying there.
Jin Zhongshu patted the old man's hand. "I'm sorry to worry you. I'm fine; I just had a minor surgery. If it weren't for the current chaotic situation, I wouldn't have let Ayan claim that I was seriously ill."
"It must have been tough for you to stay cooped up at home these days. At this rate, you probably won't be able to celebrate the New Year properly," Old Master Yan sighed.
When had the Yan Family and Jin Family ever felt so constrained?
It was all because of Liu Mingzhang's emergence. Previously, there was also the looming threat of the Ye Family, making it a case of internal strife compounded by external pressure.
Thus, they had to let outsiders believe that their two families were at odds, thinking they could take advantage of that rift.
However, seeing how Jin Chengyan and Yan Beiting interacted made one wonder... Was it really just superficial discord?
Jin Chengyan sat on a chair at the foot of the bed while Yan Beiting stood behind Old Master Yan. From the moment they entered, there had been little communication between them.
Perhaps sensing the elders' concern, Jin Chengyan shifted in his seat.
When Jin Zhongshu announced his serious illness, Jin Chengyan had actually disagreed with that decision. He knew that once this news spread, it would definitely cause fluctuations in the Jin Family's stock prices. However, Jin Zhongshu told him that they must stand united with the Yan Family in this matter, regardless of whether Jin Chengyan agreed or not.
Jin Zhongshu had already discussed everything with Old Master Yan and simply needed to inform Jin Chengyan and Yan Beiting.
Deep down, Jin Chengyan actually wanted to ease his relationship with Yan Beiting. After all, Yan Beiting was truly innocent in the events of the past.
After thinking it over, he realized that Yan Beiting had neither been with Ruan Shengyu behind his back nor had he done anything to betray Jin Chengyan.
All of Jin Chengyan's anger stemmed from the fact that Ruan Shengyu only had eyes for Yan Beiting and did not see him, which naturally led him to vent his frustration on Yan Beiting.
Now that things had developed to this point, Ruan Shengyu was no longer the reason for the conflict between Jin Chengyan and Yan Beiting; there was no need for them to part ways because of her.
"Grandpa Yan, Dad, don't worry. Yan San and I know what to do," Jin Chengyan said after a long silence to the two elders.
When Yan Beiting heard Jin Chengyan call him "Yan San" again after such a long time, he felt a pang in his heart, memories flooding back.
In their childhood, they were the stars of their school—one a graceful youth, the other a sunny boy—unbeknownst to them, they were the white knights in many girls' hearts.
They went to school together, discussed problems together, traveled abroad together, explored their feelings for a certain girl together, and so on...
How pure their friendship was back then! They regarded each other as their best brothers and friends! They believed they would always support and help one another as partners!
If it weren't for Ruan Shengyu's appearance.

Yan Beiting finally exchanged a knowing smile with Jin Chengyan. He turned to Jin Zhongshu and Old Master Yan and said, "Let's step outside for a moment."

Jin Chengyan and Yan Beiting stepped out of Jin Zhongshu's room and made their way to the study on the second floor.
Jin Zhongshu was known to smoke, and on his desk lay a pack of cigarettes. Upon seeing it, Jin Chengyan casually picked it up, took one out, and handed it to Yan Beiting.
Without hesitation, Yan Beiting accepted it with a light chuckle. "Do you remember that time when we were sixteen, sneaking up to the school rooftop to smoke, only to be caught by the disciplinary director?"
Jin Chengyan seemed to recall that incident as well, a smile tugging at the corners of his mouth. "How could I forget? I was terrified he would call my dad. You just had to say it was your idea, and then Grandpa Yan gave you quite the lecture."
Even though they were both sixteen at the time, their families had strict rules against smoking for children.
"Yan San, I'm sorry," Jin Chengyan said sincerely. It wasn't just because the cooperation between the Jin Family and Yan Family depended on Yan Family; after everything they had been through, he wanted to preserve their friendship.
Yan Beiting playfully punched Jin Chengyan's shoulder. "What are you apologizing for? You're sounding so sentimental; it's not like you." He picked up a lighter from the table, lit his cigarette, and then leaned over to light Jin Chengyan's.
Smoke rings drifted from their mouths, and someone jokingly remarked, "Smoking in the study will get us caught!"
They both burst into laughter.
After all, how old were they? Even if they got caught smoking, what would it matter? They might even end up sharing a smoke with the adults!
"By the way, everyone outside thinks our families have completely fallen apart. Liu Mingzhang will definitely come looking for you or Xiao Yuanshan, trying to ally with you to take down the Jin Family. Just go along with him; once he falls into our trap, it'll be like catching fish in a barrel," Jin Chengyan had already plotted everything out.

At this moment, neither of them would get angry or argue over such matters. Since they could resolve issues regarding Ruan Shengyu, they could do the same concerning Jono.
"Do you remember the girl I told you about six years ago? She is Jono." Yan Beiting took a puff of smoke and exhaled a ring, as if he could see Jono's shadow within the smoke ring.
Jin Chengyan was slightly taken aback. Six years ago, Yan Beiting had already met Jono...
How terrifying. Fortunately, at that time, Jono did not know him. Thankfully, six years ago, he had been sent to America because of Ruan Shengyu's matter! Otherwise, this guy would definitely have been with Jono by now!
Jin Chengyan felt a wave of relief in his heart, though Yan Beiting was unaware of it.
"So you treat Jono well. I'm handing over the girl I've loved for six years to you. If you make her shed even a single tear, I will really turn against you!"
Jin Chengyan extinguished his cigarette and slapped Yan Beiting on the shoulder.

At this point, Jin Chengyan's phone rang. He glanced at the caller ID and frowned slightly before walking out to the balcony to answer the call.
In less than half a minute, Jin Chengyan returned from the balcony with a furrowed brow. He said he had something to attend to and left first, leaving Yan Beiting alone in the study.
After chatting with Old Master Yan and Jin Zhongshu for half an hour, Yan Beiting's phone rang as well; it was Xiao Yuanshan calling.
"Yan San, let me tell you, do you know that Jono secretly came to report Ruan Shengyu to me? Brother, in order to help you make an impression in front of the goddess, I cooperated with her and caught Ruan Shengyu. You have no idea, just now Jin Chengyan brought a group of people to the police station and then ran into Jono head-on. That scene..."

However, their car was soon overtaken by several black vehicles that matched Jin Chengyan's speed and drove aggressively, closing in on them.
Jin Chengyan sensed that something was wrong. He looked out the window at the modified black cars; the drivers all exuded a menacing aura and didn’t seem like locals from Qin Cheng. Jin Chengyan furrowed his brows.
"Put on your seatbelt!" Jin Chengyan suddenly slammed on the gas!
Jono had just grabbed her seatbelt but hadn’t fastened it yet when Jin Chengyan's sudden acceleration caused it to slip from her grasp, and she was thrown back against the seat due to inertia.
What was he going crazy about? Was it because she reported Ruan Shengyu that he was acting like this? Now he wanted revenge for Ruan Shengyu? Fine! Was he really pushing his legitimate partner to a dead end for a mistress?
"Jin Chengyan, stop the car! I want to get out!" If this continued, Jono didn’t know whether their car would crash first or if she would die of anger at Jin Chengyan!
"Are you blind? Can't you see what’s happening outside? I told you not to touch Ruan Shengyu! Why won’t you listen to anything I say?" Jin Chengyan's car had better performance and was faster than those outside, but they were outnumbered; it was just one car against many.
Jono scoffed coldly, "If you were willing to deal with Ruan Shengyu, would I be fighting this alone? I can't rely on my husband; I can only depend on myself!"
Men are always unreliable!
Jin Chengyan felt that now was not the time for a verbal spar with Jono; figuring out how to shake off those cars outside was what mattered!
How dare they block Jin Chengyan's car in Qin Cheng! They must be looking for trouble!
Jin Chengyan immediately pressed the car phone, and A-Shan's voice came through.
"Check the location of my car. I'm being surrounded by five vehicles. Hurry up and send someone!" Jin Chengyan spoke rapidly. If it weren't for Jono still being in the car, he wouldn't mind playing around with those five cars.
Upon receiving the order, A-Shan sprang into action.
Jono certainly didn't overlook the cars outside. They were dangerously tailing them, forcing Jin Chengyan to speed up. He ran several red lights along the way, but fortunately, there weren't many cars on this stretch of road; otherwise, there would have definitely been an accident.

Jin Chengyan frowned. Did Jono know that he had settled Ruan Shengyu in Riverside Villa?
But before he could think further, his car was forced to a stop by the pursuing vehicles!
Five cars surrounded him.
