The strong wind murmured indistinctly. Zhou Li gestured to the soldiers behind him, and four tall horses were led forward. Zhou Li patted one of the horses on the head and said, "These horses are for you. Safe travels." With that, he turned and walked away.
The strong wind stood there, feeling indignant, when Zhou Li's voice came back to him: "Strong Wind."
He responded with a sigh and turned to follow.
Seven praised, "Second, you really handled that well just now." Second smiled proudly and said, "Of course! Don't forget who I am—Cao!"
"Let's go," Third said. The four mounted their horses and rode toward Eastern Pass.
On the way, Seven asked, "Ergou Master, is what you said about the 'Sky Tomb' true or not?"
Wang Er Gou chuckled and pulled out a book titled Feng Shui World from his pocket. "I read about it in here; it might be true. I only gave a brief description earlier, but this book goes into much more detail."
"What kind of detail?" Seven asked.
Wang Er Gou pretended to be mysterious. "That's a secret," he said.
Before he could finish, Second shouted, " Er Gou, stop messing around and get to the point."
Wang Er Gou chuckled again and explained, "The book says this Tomb was discovered by an old Feng Shui Master; no one has ever been there. It was entirely deduced through Feng Shui, as if it appeared out of thin air but actually exists. It records that someone once went down to investigate but found nothing."
"So is it real or not?" Second pressed eagerly.
Wang Er Gou replied vaguely, "I don't know either; I might have exaggerated a bit earlier."
Second shot him a disdainful glance. Wang Er Gou defended himself, "I had to say that to save my life at the time."
Second was momentarily speechless as Seven cursed angrily, "Those lackeys robbed us; damn it." He pulled out the bag Zhou Li had given him, which he hadn't had a chance to examine before.
Upon opening it, they discovered a plethora of silver coins inside. Seven reached in, feeling around, and pulled out a card. Without even looking at it, he handed it to Third and said, "Third, here's your stuff." Third took it casually and tucked it into his pocket.
Third continued to rummage through the contents, and soon enough, Pearl was found. Seven felt a surge of joy and cursed, "Finally, this kid hasn’t had his conscience eaten by dogs."
After a smooth journey, they finally arrived at the territory of Eastern Pass. The group had been riding non-stop until they approached as the sun began to set. They bounced around on their horses, and when Wang Er Gou dismounted, his legs felt unsteady. Breathing heavily, he complained, "I can barely take it anymore."
Second chuckled and said, " Er Gou, I think you need to strengthen your training."
Third led the horse while observing the bustling crowd around them. He remarked, "Let’s head into the city."
They found an inn to stay at.
After a tiring day, everyone was exhausted and returned to their rooms to rest. The night enveloped them completely, and when they finally woke up, the sun was already high in the sky.
This was a small county town located on the border between Eastern Pass and South Town, named Xun City. Although it was a county seat, it resembled more of a small town due to its extreme poverty.
Second exclaimed in disbelief, "Is this really considered a county seat?"
Wang Er Gou sighed and replied, "It is a county seat, but it's so poor that the government has no time to care for it. That's why this small county has always been impoverished."
Seven voiced his confusion, "The location of this city is quite good; how did it end up in such a state?"
Wang Er Gou had no answer.
Second shouted, "Why bother with all that? We should hurry up and buy some gear to find Er Gou's enemies and settle this once and for all." With that, he stepped out of the inn.
Third followed him out, with Seven trailing behind. Wang Er Gou brought up the rear.
The sun was shining just right, accompanied by a gentle breeze. After a few people finished their meal at a roadside stall, they successfully bought what they wanted according to Second's suggestions.
They planned to rest for a day and leave the small county town before dawn the next day.
Wang Er Gou said, "His hometown is several dozen miles away from here. We need to prepare rations for the journey, and the roads there are terrible, all mountainous. I’m afraid we won’t be able to ride horses."
Second replied casually, "It's fine; it's just climbing mountains!"
After purchasing their gear, they found that this small county town was poor and backward, and many items were unavailable. However, Second managed to buy Flint, which is the best guarantee for starting a fire and can be used anytime. They also bought plenty of fire starters, but unfortunately, they couldn't find a flashlight.
The county town had no electricity at all; everyone relied on old oil lamps to get by. The entire town, from the city walls to the houses, appeared dusty and worn, as if it had weathered many storms.
Upon returning to their inn, they were greeted by a waiter at the entrance. Second casually asked, "Hey, do you sell flashlights here?"
The waiter smiled and said, "You’ve come to the right person; we actually do have them."
"You'll take us there," Second said as he pulled a silver coin from his pocket. "This is yours."
"Alright, no problem." The waiter was quite familiar and directly took the silver coin from Second's hand. "Let’s go! I’ll lead you there."
Before they could step into the store, they had to turn back.
The waiter was very enthusiastic and chatted along the way, asking Second, "Are you interested in gambling a bit?"
Second didn’t hold back and playfully knocked the waiter on the head while scolding him, "You’re not a kid anymore; you should settle down with a good woman instead of messing around."
The waiter rubbed his head and called out with familiarity, "Brother Cao, how about you give me some more money so I can go home and find myself a wife?"
Second laughed and scolded, "You little rascal, you really deserve a beating," as he pulled a few silver coins from his pocket and handed them to Waiter.
Waiter accepted the coins with a beaming smile, carefully stowing them away in his own pocket. Damn, this could cover several months of his salary.
Still dazed, he led the way forward. Waiter instinctively responded and quickened his pace.
In just a moment, they passed through a curtain. Inside, the noise was incessant, with loud shouts echoing—big, big, big; small, small—conflicting calls filled the air.
"What are you bringing us to a casino for?" Second shouted loudly. It was far too noisy here, and Waiter raised his voice in response, "Just follow me, Brother Cao."
Waiter leaned in close to whisper something to a man who looked like a thug.
After that, the thug led several people into the Inner Hall.
The Inner Hall was simply furnished with an old-fashioned decor that exuded a sense of taste.
A Fat-Eared Man was already seated in a chair, flanked by two lackeys. He squinted at the newcomers and spoke up, "Are you here for the goods?"
The four of them exchanged surprised glances at the speaker. Damn, his voice was unexpectedly sharp and thin, yet one could vaguely see the unkempt stubble on his face.
They all silently cursed in their hearts.
Third replied calmly, "Yes."
The Fat-Eared Man hesitated briefly before directly summoning the goods. "These days, not many people buy flashlights, especially in this county."
The group felt increasingly uneasy. They couldn't believe such a voice belonged to such a fat man.
After paying up, each person bought two flashlights since they were considered 'rare goods' in this small county and were relatively hard to come by. Therefore, they were quite expensive, but none of them hesitated to complete the transaction.
At that moment, the Fat-Eared Man spoke again, "My surname is Qi. If you all think highly of me, just call me Brother Qi." Before anyone could respond, he continued, "I see that you are a few straightforward people from the city, folks who are up to big things. Since that's the case, I won't hold back." With that, he waved his hand to indicate something.
The weapons were brought out onto the table. "Damn it, wanting to make money while talking so grandly," one of them muttered.
No one moved. Fat Qi added, "Consider this as me making a few good friends; I'll sell these things to you at a lower price."
His boastful words combined with his androgynous voice sent an inexplicable chill down their spines.
Second stepped forward and fiddled with a firearm. He spotted something about the size of a grenade and picked it up, asking, "What is this? I've never seen anything like it before."
Third replied, "That's an illumination round."
Fat Qi praised him, saying, "Brother, you have some knowledge! It took me a lot of effort to get my hands on something like this."
"Illumination round," Second repeated. Third whispered, "This is very important for us; it might be even more crucial than our need for firearms."
When they left the place, they had nearly spent all their silver coins. "Just like that, a bag of money is gone," Seven sighed.
"This time we really put in some capital," Second exaggerated. Third smiled lightly.
"Now we only have enough money to maintain a normal life for a few days," Wang Er Gou said.
"Never mind that; we'll cross the bridge when we get there," Second said with a carefree attitude.
Upon returning to the shop, the sun had already been swallowed by the mountains. The remaining light still illuminated the small county town. It was a serene scene as the sun set!
After dinner that night, everyone returned to their rooms to sleep. Everything was ready.
The next day, just as dawn broke and horses neighed, they left the small county town and headed toward the Eastern Guan Mountain Range.
They continued walking until the sky was completely bright, and the county town had vanished from sight.
A few of them stopped their horses and let them graze on the grass. They also took a moment to eat their rations.
The sun peeked over the mountain, and Second sighed, "The weather has been so nice these past few days; I believe our upcoming endeavors will go smoothly."
Seven politely replied, "Thank you for your kind words, Second." He smiled after saying this.
Wang Er Gou let out a long sigh, thinking that perhaps the events from over a decade ago would finally come to a conclusion this time.
Third stepped forward and patted Wang Er Gou on the shoulder, saying, "Don't worry! Everything will go well." Wang Er Gou turned around and gave Third a grateful look.
Suddenly, Second shouted, "After being away from home for over ten years, venturing out alone, it's for family and for the country!"
Seven burst into laughter. Second's voice was truly something to be desired; he was completely off-key.
Second glared at Seven while Third and Wang Er Gou also chuckled. The atmosphere became lively with their banter.
Third silently thought to himself, "Let’s hope so!" He glanced up at the sky; it was a brilliant blue with fluffy white clouds.
