The sky was as dark as ink, and before Mountain Girl arrived, Third and the others had already made their way up the mountain.
The wind on the mountain was strong, causing the flowers and trees to sway wildly. The sky looked gloomy, and several beams of flashlight danced along the mountain path in the night.
Seven said, "This wind feels strange! There's a chill mixed in."
Second replied, "It must be nearing autumn! This wind is indeed a bit odd." Wang Er Gou looked at the sky and said, "There's something suspicious about this wind."
The path they chose to ascend was not the same as before; it was a route Wang Er Gou had taken previously when he went to the Ancient Altar. This path seemed overgrown with weeds, but in reality, it was relatively clear compared to other routes up the mountain. As long as one brushed aside the weeds, it was quite spacious.
The footprints on the surface were quite evident. The wind continued to blow, bringing a hint of coldness. The group instinctively tightened their clothing.
Second asked, "Seven, do you think it's going to rain?"
Seven looked up at the sky but saw nothing but darkness. Just as he was about to use his flashlight to check, Third stopped him, saying, "Don't expose our position."
Third turned to Wang Er Gou and asked, "Do you still remember the exact location of the altar?" Wang Er Gou nodded and replied, "I remember."
At that moment, Xin Shui Su spoke up, "Someone is following us."
Second whispered a question, but Xin Shui Su gestured for him to be quiet and then softly said, "Find a place to hide." The group quickened their pace.
The grass and trees growing on both sides of the mountain path provided ample cover for them. They quickly darted into the woods and could faintly hear hurried footsteps approaching from behind.
After reaching a certain point, they heard a voice say, "Damn it, why are they running so fast?"
Upon hearing that voice, Second immediately recognized who it was and inwardly cursed, "This guy just had to follow us."
Suddenly, the sound disappeared again. Second whispered, "Why is there no sound?" and prepared to go outside.
Third quietly said, "Don't rush." Second was stopped, peering through layers of obstacles, but the night was too dark to see anything. Second murmured, "Is something wrong?"
Third gestured for him to stay still for a moment.
With a sigh, Second continued to watch. Suddenly, Xin Shui Su said, "Someone is coming from behind."
The group pulled out their guns and aimed at the back. At that moment, Second shouted, "Don't move! Otherwise, I'll turn you into a colander."
Nearby, the grass and trees rustled again. Second added, "Did you not hear that?"
The rustling immediately ceased, and the movements of the person froze in place. Second turned on his flashlight, using the beam to discern a rough outline.
He could still hear heavy breathing. Second cursed, "You little brat still want to follow us? Get out here in the wind!"
There was still no response from that direction; only faint breathing could be heard.
Second raised his voice, "If you don't come out now, I will really shoot. I'm counting to three: one, two..." Before he could reach three, the grass and trees shook violently before falling silent, and the figure vanished.
Third said, "That's not them."
Upon hearing this, Second immediately took off in pursuit, with Seven closely following behind. Soon after, the others joined in as well. Second shouted, "If you keep running, I will shoot!"
The person ahead ignored him and kept running deeper into the woods. More and more underbrush and trees blocked their path, causing Second's speed to slow down gradually. Meanwhile, the figure ahead moved effortlessly through the foliage. With a few sounds of snapping branches, that person disappeared in just a few leaps.
" Second " cursed under his breath, realizing there was no point in continuing; they could no longer see the shadow ahead. The wind continued to howl.
Only the branches above them swayed. The others soon caught up.
" Second " said, "We've lost them. Our movements might have been discovered."
"Seven" replied, "They probably want us to lead the way."
" Second " continued, "I think I just heard that brat Dafa's voice." "Third" confirmed, "That was definitely his voice; they’ve arrived."
Confused, " Second " asked, "Aren't they the leaders here? They could just come openly instead of sneaking around."
"Some things can't be exposed to the light," "Wang Er Gou" said thoughtfully.
That remark struck a chord with " Second," who nodded and said, "These two Tomb Raiders are going back to their old ways."
As soon as he finished speaking, two figures emerged from the surrounding trees, guns in hand. "Don't move," one of them commanded.
Caught off guard, the group froze in shock. As they turned to look back, a bright flashlight blinded them, making it impossible to see clearly, but they recognized the voices.
Suddenly, a voice said, "Put down your guns." Dafa slowly lowered his weapon.
Once the light dimmed, " Second " recognized him and bluntly asked, "What are you doing here?"
Dafa replied, "No comment." The group exchanged glances. "Third" calmly stated, "We will fulfill our promise to you."
"I know," Zhou Li replied.
"But you still came," Third continued.
Zhou Li stated, "I did this just to ensure that the items reach my hands."
Third fell silent.
"Are you planning to go with us?" Second asked.
Zhou Li answered frankly, "That was the plan all along."
"We're not planning to go to the Tomb," Second said.
Zhou Li remarked, "I could tell from the route you took. Although it's not far from here to the Tomb, getting there won't be that simple."
"Then why did you follow us?" Seven asked.
Zhou Li replied, "Is there anything of value in this mountain range besides the Tomb?" This was clearly a probing question about their purpose for climbing.
"That's none of your business," Seven retorted.
Dafeng said to Seven, "You should be more polite." Second noticed Seven's defeat and was about to argue back.
Suddenly, Third said, "Then let's go together."
Throughout this exchange, Xin Shui Su and Wang Er Gou remained silent.
Second added, "Are you giving up on the Jade Box?" Dafeng replied, "You don't need to worry about that; it will belong to me sooner or later."
Xin Shui Su stepped forward and took out a box that was clear all over. Under the light, he looked gentle and peaceful and said, "Is this what you want?" Zhou Li's eyes flashed with color. Originally, A flush appeared on his pale face. But the rest of the people looked at Xin Shui Su dumbfounded, meaning: "What a magical power!" Xin Shui Su completely ignored them. Zhou Li carefully took the Jade Box and started with the box. Zhou Li started with many years of experience in touching treasures. You can tell by touch that this is definitely not a fake. Xin Shui Su spit out two words from his mouth: "Really?" Zhou Li nodded meaningfully. OldSeven is also an expert in this field. You can tell at a glance that the baby is not simple. The eyes have been focused on Jade Box. The whole body is a dark green color. Strangely, light can directly penetrate Jade Box, but the structure and items inside cannot be seen. Dafeng also came over to take a look. Dafeng was also an expert, and he could tell it was genuine by touching it with his hands. Dafeng asked in an unconfident voice: "How did you get it?" Xin Shui Su said: "You don't need to know this." Dafeng didn't ask any questions, as long as he got the thing, he could tell him anything. Zhou Li was about to open the box, but Xin Shui Su stopped him and said: "I got the things, can you go?" Zhou Li sighed and said: "Okay." At this point, he called As soon as there was a strong wind, the two of them got into the grass and disappeared.
After they left, Seven said, "Such a precious treasure, just like that handed over to others!"
The others remained silent, and after this remark, they returned to the road.
The wind began to rise again, and it seemed the weather had turned a bit colder.
Xin Shui Su glanced at the sky, pondered for a moment, and said, "Let's pick up the pace!" The others responded and quickened their steps.
Except for Wang Er Gou, who had a weaker constitution, everyone else was fine. So when they reached halfway up the slope, they took a short break to wait for Wang Er Gou to catch his breath before continuing on their way.
Second suddenly said to Third, "We might have encountered wild people again." Third nodded in agreement and replied, "Be careful."
Second nodded and then quietly relayed the warning to the others.
There was no need for Xin Shui Su to say anything; if something happened to her, they would likely be in trouble too.
As Wang Er Gou climbed higher, his mood grew heavier. This time up might uncover some mysteries. Although these matters had been buried for many years, every time he thought of his family being gone, a surge of resentment ignited within him.
All these years of enduring humiliation were just to find an opportunity for revenge.
With this thought, he looked at the others. He hoped everyone would be safe; otherwise, it would be his fault.
The higher they climbed, the stronger the wind became, howling in their ears in waves. Second remarked, "The weather is about to change!" It was obvious to anyone with eyes.
However, Seven said, "This weather is unpredictable; it changes too suddenly."
"Wang Er Gou said, 'This wind is a bit strange; it doesn't feel like the wind before rain.'
As they continued forward, Xin Shui Su occasionally glanced up at the sky, which was completely dark. Third followed her gaze but couldn't discern anything unusual.
Xin Shui Su calmly remarked to Third, 'It might rain soon.'
Third looked at Xin Shui Su in confusion. Thunder rumbled overhead, and lightning flashed repeatedly.
Third thought to himself, 'She was right!'
Second cursed, 'I told you it was going to rain! You all didn't believe me.' The other two had no time to argue and said, 'Let's find a place to shelter from the rain first.'
Having just experienced heavy rainfall a few days ago, another storm was brewing, and it seemed something unsettling was about to happen. They needed to find a place to take cover quickly!
In this desolate wilderness, where could they possibly find shelter? After running for a while, a raindrop finally fell.
Second grumbled about the lack of shelter in such an isolated area.
Suddenly, Seven shouted as if discovering something exciting, 'Look ahead! There's a thatched hut!' The light illuminated a concealed hut nestled among the trees.
The group hurriedly ran toward it."
