Outside the iron gate of the castle, the morning light is just breaking through, and a mist hangs in the air. A group of maids and the steward gather around a small cradle, whispering to each other, their faces filled with amazement and curiosity.
In the newly discovered cradle lies a baby girl, wrapped in an exquisite blanket. Her silver-white hair glistens in the morning light, and her blood-colored eyes are closed in peaceful slumber.
Her appearance is like a mystery, stirring the calm waters of the castle.
"Her hair, and those eyes, really resemble the lord of the castle," a maid whispered, her eyes filled with curiosity and doubt.
"Could it be that the lord has a love child outside?" Another steward speculated, his voice tinged with excitement.
Just then, Lilith walked slowly, her steps light and graceful.
Her true face is now exposed - a young woman with long coffee-red hair and deep eyes, her beauty contrasting sharply with the darkness of the castle.
"What's going on? Why are so many people gathered here?" Lilith's voice is clear, with a hint of undeniable authority.
The maids and butlers immediately showed a look of awe when they saw Lilith, and quickly made way for her.
"Madam Lilith, there is a baby girl here who bears a striking resemblance to the lord of the castle," a maid answered cautiously, her eyes unable to meet Lilith's gaze.
Lilith's gaze fell on the quietly sleeping baby girl, with a hint of complex emotion flashing in her eyes.
She crouched down and gently stroked the baby's hair, the silver-white hair shimmering at her fingertips, unable to resist touching the delicate little face.
Looking at those long eyelashes, hair color, and delicate features. "She really looks a lot like Guilas," Lilith murmured, her voice tinged with uncertainty.
The surrounding crowd watched this scene quietly, and the air seemed to freeze. The shadow of the castle appeared even deeper in the morning light, while this little life was like a beam of light, illuminating the darkness.
"However, why would she appear here?" Lilith muttered to herself, a hint of contemplation flashing in her eyes.
"Perhaps someone intentionally left her here, wanting to attract the attention of the lord of the city," speculated an elderly steward, a hint of concern in his eyes.
Lilith fell silent for a moment, then slowly stood up and said, "Regardless, we cannot leave her here. I will take her to the lord of the city and let him decide the fate of this child."
With that, Lilith gently lifted the baby, her movements gentle and careful. The baby stirred slightly in her arms but remained asleep.
The people around dispersed, making way for a path leading deep into the castle. Lilith held the baby and walked through the long corridor, with each step echoing through the halls of history. The wall lamps in the corridor cast a faint light, illuminating her path forward.
Deep within the castle, in front of Nicholas's room, Lilith gently knocked on the door. A deep, reassuring voice came from behind the door, and she pushed it open.
Nicholas is standing in the room, having just finished showering. He is wearing dark pants on his lower half and is using a towel to dry his wet hair. His skin glistens with a healthy glow in the candlelight, and his deep red eyes gaze at Lilith standing at the door through his wet, silver-white hair.
Lilith steps into the room, but with a hint of hesitation. She holds a baby in her arms, peacefully lying in her warm embrace.
Nicholas's gaze shifted from Lilith's face to the baby in her arms, his brow furrowing slightly. " Lilith, what is this...?" His voice was low, tinged with displeasure.
Lilith replied softly, "My lord, this baby was found by me outside the city gates this morning. Her hair and eyes bear a striking resemblance to yours."
Nicholas approached, carefully examining the baby. His expression changed from amazed to thoughtful, as if weighing an important decision in his mind.
"Do you think she is of my bloodline? Or a lost member of the royal family from the demon realm?" Nicholas's voice carried a hint of doubt.
Lilith nodded, but uncertainty flickered in her eyes. "I can't be sure, but her appearance seems too coincidental. And people in the castle are discussing this possibility."
Nicholas fell silent for a moment, then reached out to gently stroke the baby's hair, a hint of complex emotion flashing in his eyes.
"I have never had any bloodline, even if she may be of the royal family of the demon world, it cannot change her destiny," Guilas' voice was low and firm, "She will become one of us, receiving the strictest training, her destiny will be more difficult than anyone else's."
A hint of worry flashed in Lilith's eyes, but she did not object. She knew Nicholas' decision was unquestionable.
"Yes, my lord, I will arrange for someone to take care of her," Lilith said softly.
Nicholas nodded, his gaze once again falling on the baby, seemingly contemplating how this new life would fit in.
Lilith stood quietly to the side, observing Guilas's reaction.
Nicholas reached out and gently stroked the baby's head, his movements unusually gentle. The baby cooed softly in response to his touch, seeming to feel safe and warm.
Upon seeing this scene, Lilith was amazed to see her master show a rare glimpse of compassion. However, Nicholas coldly said, "Send her to the Warlock training camp now."
Lilith amazedDi asked, "My lord, she's still so young, how can she undergo such cruel training?"
She continued, "At the very least, you should wait until she's a little older before making a decision."
Nicholas seemed impatient: "So annoying, just throw her outside."
"Nicholas's words shocked Lilith, and a hint of disbelief flashed in her eyes. She held the baby tightly, as if this could protect her from any harm.
"My lord, you cannot do this," Lilith said firmly. "She is still just an innocent child and should not have to endure such a fate."
Nicholas's eyes turned cold, and he turned away from Lilith and the baby, sighing, "Lilith, after a century of integrating into human society, have you been influenced at all? This world is already cruel, and learning this sooner might be a good thing for her."
A strong sense of defiance and anger surged in Lilith's heart, but directly opposing Nicholas was not wise. She needed to find another way to protect this child.
She took a deep breath, trying to calm herself down: "If you insist on doing this, then please allow me to take care of her myself. I will make sure she is safe and will not interfere with your affairs."
Nicholas fell silent for a moment, then nodded slowly: "Alright, I'll give you this chance. But if she becomes a trouble, I won't hesitate to send her to a training camp."
Lilith nodded, determination flashing in her eyes. "I will arrange for someone to take care of her and observe her."
Nicholas turned around and looked at Lilith. "The appearance of this child may not be a coincidence. You also need to investigate where she came from and why she was left here."
Lilith nodded in agreement, "I will start the investigation immediately."
Although Lilith still had worries in her heart, at least now she had the chance to protect this child. She gently picked up the baby, bowed to Nicholas, and then left the room.
After leaving the room, Lilith felt a mix of emotions. She had just taken on a huge responsibility. This child, no matter how mysterious her background, was now her responsibility.
