The sound of rain outside, muffled by the soundproof glass, became blurred and low, as if the world were covered by a thin veil, with all sounds fading away, leaving only the tranquility and warmth within the room. Raindrops continued to lightly tap against the window, like a silent accompaniment in the night, but at this moment, the subtle sound was almost replaced by the lingering presence of the two of them. 0

Ethan lay exhausted on the bed, feeling his body sink into the soft mattress, his breath still slightly hurried. His muscles ached faintly, yet his heart was filled with a sense of satisfaction, as if he had just experienced an unforgettable journey. Beside him, Sofia's cheeks were flushed, breathing lightly, her hair spread across the pillow, making her even more enchanting. Her eyes were half-closed, a smile gracing her lips; she seemed to be immersed in a beautiful dream, her breathing becoming steadier as she appeared to have fallen into a deep sleep. 0

Ethan turned his head slightly to gaze at Sofia's peaceful sleeping face, his eyes filled with affection and tenderness. He gently reached out his hand to caress her cheek, his fingertips gliding over her skin, feeling her warmth and softness. Her face still bore a faint blush, looking particularly delicate, like a flower blooming in the night. 0

"Sofia..." Ethan whispered her name softly, his tone laced with gentleness and playfulness, as if he wanted to awaken her to share this moment of contentment with him. However, Sofia did not respond; she lay still, her breathing steady, seemingly completely absorbed in her dreams. 0

Watching her, Ethan couldn't help but smile, his lips curling up slightly with a hint of confident teasing as he murmured to himself, "Did you pass out from pleasure? Looks like I'm still quite capable!" His tone carried pride and jest, as if this were a small confirmation of his abilities. 0

He chuckled lightly and then relaxed against the pillow, his gaze remaining soft as it lingered on Sofia. The tranquility of this moment filled him with immense satisfaction; the sound of rain outside seemed distant, and only this shared moment with Sofia felt real and eternal. 0

Lying in bed, Ethan looked contentedly at Sofia's sleeping form, his heart overflowing with love and warmth. After a night of passion, he felt his weary body gradually relax and decided to freshen up. He gently turned over and tenderly stroked Sofia's shoulder, wanting to ask if she would join him. 0

"Sofia..." he called softly again, his voice still carrying that earlier warmth and playfulness. However, when he turned Sofia onto her side and inadvertently glanced at her face, his words caught in his throat as if an invisible hand had seized him. 0

That face—no longer the gentle and lovely visage he knew—was instead grotesquely twisted and deformed before him. 0

In an instant, Ethan felt as though the entire world had been torn apart by an unseen force. The sweet features that once belonged to Sofia had transformed into something eerie and terrifying; her eyes, nose, and mouth seemed to have been distorted by some malevolent power into a chaotic mess resembling a spiraling monster. Those eyes that should have been filled with love were now sunken into their sockets, pale and lifeless, exuding endless emptiness and strangeness. Her mouth curled into an unnatural cold arc that resembled a sinister grin—one that was chillingly hollow and filled with indescribable evil as if it came from some unfathomable abyss. 0

Ethan's heart stopped for a moment before racing wildly; an overwhelming dryness and suffocation gripped his throat. His hands trembled slightly as if bound by some invisible force; in that instant, he lost all control over his body. He jerked backward violently, nearly falling off the bed as he gasped for breath; all he could see was that extremely distorted face looming over him as if it intended to consume everything. 0

This was not Sofia—this could not be her! 0

"Ethan?" Sofia's voice trembled, barely escaping her throat. His mind was a whirlwind of confusion; everything had come so suddenly, so vividly, that he couldn't discern whether the scene before him was some kind of nightmare. 0

Suddenly, that eerie face broke into a wide grin, the twisted mouth stretching almost to the ears, as if it intended to tear the entire face apart. Her eyes glimmered with a cold and malevolent light, seemingly fixated on him, while her silent laughter echoed in his mind like an endless mockery and torment. 0

Ethan's body froze, a chill racing up his spine as if the temperature in the room had plummeted to freezing point. The fear and reason in his brain collided and shattered within mere seconds, unable to accept the reality before him. How could Sofia's face have transformed into this? What was happening? 0

He wanted to escape it all, but his body refused to move, as if it were paralyzed. That grinning face continued to sway before him, silently mocking his terror. 0

Ethan was sinking into an abyss of uncontrollable fear, his heartbeat pounding like a drum, every nerve in his body screaming as he remained immobile, trapped in a nightmare from which he could not awaken. The distorted face lingered in his mind, threatening to consume him entirely. Suddenly, a pair of warm hands gently grasped him, bringing a familiar sensation that instantly shattered the suffocating horror. 0

"Ethan... are you okay?" Sofia's voice was soft and concerned, like a warm current that broke through the icy fear in Ethan's heart. The sound was so real, completely different from the bizarre illusion moments ago. 0

Ethan's eyes widened in shock as the scene before him returned to normal. Sofia was sitting beside him, her face showing a hint of fatigue as she looked at him with deep concern. Her face—still that familiar, lovely, gentle visage—had none of the terrifying distortion from before. Ethan's breath remained rapid; his chest rose and fell quickly as his heart continued to race, as if it hadn't fully recovered from the earlier fright. 0

He wiped the cold sweat from his forehead with trembling hands, struggling to steady his breathing. Sofia's hand still held onto him gently, as if afraid he might suddenly vanish. Her warm touch gradually brought Ethan back to reality, but the lingering panic in his heart remained unresolved. 0

"I..." Ethan gasped for air, his lips quivering as if he wanted to say something, but the horrific vision still etched deeply in his mind prevented him from articulating it. His reason was slowly returning, yet the pounding sensation in his chest lingered. 0

Sofia sensed something was off with him; she didn't press for details but simply wrapped her arms around him gently. Her body was warm and soft, providing Ethan with some comfort. She murmured softly, "I'm so tired... really tired... I want to sleep now; you can go wash up by yourself, okay?" Her voice was gentle yet laced with exhaustion, as if everything strange that had just occurred didn't exist at all. 0

Ethan still breathed heavily; the terror within him had not completely dissipated. However, when Sofia's arms encircled him lightly, he felt a flicker of solace. Her tender touch and soft breaths anchored him back to reality as if everything that had just happened was merely an illusion born from his own anxiety. 0

"Um... okay..." Ethan replied softly, his voice still trembling. He watched as Sofia wearily lay back down, closed her eyes, and quietly drifted into sleep. 0
