In the cold darkness, surrounded by deadly water that offered resistance yet nothing to grasp, Rao Jie suddenly felt as if she had encountered something. She was being pulled by a greater force, dragged along. Her body gradually floated up, held by someone, her chin lifted by a massive hand.
After a while, it felt as though she had escaped the darkness, leaving behind the bitter cold of winter. She lay somewhere, surrounded by a cacophony of sounds. Something soft seemed to cover her mouth and then lifted away, but each time it was covered again, it felt as if something was entering her body, forcing open the tightly shut doors of her organs.
Suddenly, something unpleasant surged up inside her. "Ugh... cough cough, vomit!" Rao Jie gasped for breath, awakening as if from a nightmare. The discomfort in her body felt so real, yet the warmth of the sunset's afterglow enveloped her.
She was cradled in someone's arms, a voice filled with joy and anger echoed around her. "Idiot, idiot, idiot!" Rao Jie slightly opened her eyes, stinging from the cold. She could barely make out some figures around her and strained to lift her eyelids to see who was holding her.
What came into view was indeed… indeed that indescribably handsome face. Even in its current disheveled state, it seemed to radiate a sacred glow in Rao Jie’s stimulated vision. "Wu... Rong," she rasped, unsure if her voice even reached him. But after calling out his name, Rao Jie fell unconscious.

Rao Jie experienced many terrifying dreams where she was perpetually fleeing from something dreadful. No matter how hard she tried to escape, she felt trapped in an endless cycle of panic and running. Finally exhausted and ready to give up, a figure shimmering with light suddenly appeared in her dark world.
He forcefully pulled Rao Jie up. "Idiot, why are you running?" Then he faced the fear behind her head-on. He held her tightly in his embrace, steadfast and brave, as if he feared nothing in this world. "With me by your side, what do you have to be afraid of!"
After a while, Rao Jie gradually woke up. As soon as she opened her eyes, a wave of pain washed over her, a deep ache that felt like it was coming from her bones, not the kind of pain from being hit.
Rao Jie realized that her condition must mean she had a fever. Her mouth felt dry, and she couldn't help but speak up.
Someone leaned into her line of sight.
"Wow, you're awake! Jie Jie is awake!"
"Wu Xin..."
"You remember me! Looks like you haven't lost your memory."
Another person pushed Wu Xin's head aside and said, "Are you stupid? It's not like she hit her head; how could she forget? Move aside. Rao Jie, do you want some water?"
"Wei Qian?"
Rao Jie struggled to process everything, but something felt off. She pondered for a moment in confusion.
Wu Xin's eyes suddenly lit up. "It was my brother who saved you. Do you remember?"
Rao Jie's eyes brightened. Right, where was Wu Rong?
"Where... where is he?"
What felt strange was that the first person to appear wasn't Wu Rong, which was different from what she had expected.
Wu Xin smiled and said, "You've been unconscious for a whole day and night. My brother is fine; he went to handle some issues for you. He'll probably be back soon."
Rao Jie struggled to sit up, and Wu Xin and Wei Qian quickly helped her. Wei Qian poured a glass of water for Rao Jie. After drinking the warm water, speaking became easier for her.
"You're still running a fever, and there's a risk of pneumonia. If anything feels uncomfortable, let us know. You might need to stay in the hospital for a few days before you can go home."
Rao Jie weakly nodded and asked in confusion, "How did you come back?"
