Although Zhang Yu had agreed to Su Ruolan's request, he still imposed certain restrictions. 0

Su Ruolan was well aware of this and did not dwell on it. She had no intention of staying at H Base for long; once the matter was resolved, she would leave. The reasons were twofold: first, she feared attracting unwanted trouble, and Zhang Yu should have enough influence at H Base to help her fend off any issues; second, she wanted to draw a clear line with Zhang Yu, as it would be easier to settle things once she received his assistance. 0

Watching Zhang Yu swear an oath with his soul, Su Ruolan began her rescue efforts. She couldn't fathom how a four-ton military Humvee had ended up overturned; she admired the driver’s skills. Glancing around, Su Ruolan removed four tires from the nearby vehicles and placed them about 1.7 meters to the right of the Humvee, arranging them in a straight line. 0

Zhang Yu watched with great interest as Su Ruolan rolled the tires around, measuring distances and angles. 0

Approaching the left side of the Humvee, Su Ruolan activated her Ice Ability, forming an ice pillar shaped like a forklift. She drove the ice pillar deep under the vehicle and shouted, "Lift!" 0

The Humvee began to slowly tilt, gradually forming a zero-degree angle with the ground. Then the ice pillar snapped, causing the Humvee to lean to the right due to its own weight, crashing onto the tires before bouncing back up and swaying side to side. 0

Before Zhang Yu could react, he found himself inside the vehicle turned 180 degrees, dazed and seeing stars. When he accidentally opened his eyes, he realized that the vehicle had been righted. 0

Su Ruolan pulled on the door handle from outside and knocked on the window. Zhang Yu released the lock, and as soon as Su Ruolan opened the door, she entered the vehicle. 0

"Hey, girl, that move you just pulled was ruthless! Aren't you afraid I might get killed? Who's going to guarantee my safety at H Base?" Zhang Yu slumped in his seat, panting and bewildered. 0

"Aren't you alive?" Su Ruolan shot him a puzzled glance while continuing her work. She pushed the seat back to free him from being stuck and then reclined it to move him over to the passenger seat. 0

"You look so thin, yet you have such strength." Lying flat, Zhang Yu let Su Ruolan tear his clothes apart. "Oh no, you've seen me naked! You have to take responsibility! How about you pledge yourself to me?" 0

Su Ruolan focused intently on cleaning his wounds, bandaging him up and setting his bones before applying pressure with a decisive snap. 0

"Ugh," Zhang Yu groaned softly. 0

"Alright, there are no medicines available now, so we can only handle this simply. It's best to hurry back to H Base; maybe you're still okay." Despite her frustration with Zhang Yu's reckless behavior, Su Ruolan couldn't help but admire the young man a little. With fractures in his left arm and both legs, he was still able to endure the pain without a sound—he was quite a man. 0

She adjusted her seat back to an upright position while Zhang Yu slumped there helplessly. 0

"I have a fractured rib, and you want me to sit like this? Are you trying to murder your husband? Ugh, I can hardly breathe," Zhang Yu exclaimed. 0

"Shut up. If you don't want to become mute, keep quiet. I only promised to save you; I never guaranteed you'd come out unscathed," Su Ruolan scolded softly. Hearing him refer to her as 'husband' struck a nerve. He was still unaware of his predicament while she was trapped near Longhu Mountain. Once they reached H Base and she learned Qin Zhi Han's fate, she would pay the fee and immediately set off to find him. 0

Zhang Yu noticed the coldness radiating from Su Ruolan and dared not speak further. He shifted his gaze and asked, "After we parted ways at the supermarket, why did you disappear? Where did you go? What about Qin Zhi Han? Weren't you with him? Why are you alone? Did he die?" 0

Su Ruolan started the military Hummer, ignoring Zhang Yu's questions. The vehicle had been modified with bulletproof armor, tempered glass, and limited-edition tires. Its security measures were excellent. Even after such a severe impact, its performance remained outstanding. She couldn't fathom what Zhang Yu had gone through to end up in such a dire situation. 0

Su Ruolan quickly accelerated the vehicle and sped away. 0

"Do you know the way to H Base?" Zhang Yu shifted slightly and noticed that the pain in his chest had lessened. 0

"I don't know," Su Ruolan replied nonchalantly. 0

"Then why are you driving straight ahead? You're going the wrong way; turn around," Zhang Yu said irritably. 0

The speeding military Hummer came to a sudden stop, made a U-turn, and headed off into the distance, narrowly brushing past another military vehicle parked by the roadside. 0

Inside that vehicle, a man lay face down on the steering wheel, blood covering his face. His eyes widened as he caught sight of Su Ruolan's cold profile and Zhang Yu's playful expression as they sped by. 0

"Young Commander, save me," Xu Qiubai murmured before slipping back into darkness. 0

Unaware of the situation, Su Ruolan and Zhang Yu continued on their way. 0

The sun was bright, and although some roads were damaged, most of the road signs were still clearly visible. With Zhang Yu's guidance, Su Ruolan and her group finally arrived at the vicinity of H Base. 0

A ten-meter-high city wall loomed before them, with guards standing watch atop it. In front of the wall, five circles of Iron Thorns formed a barrier three meters high, the dark, thin iron spikes stained with unremovable dark red and grayish-blue remnants of flesh. A row of heavily armed soldiers patrolled fifty meters away from the wall. 0

"Who goes there? Stop!" The soldier at the front spotted the approaching military Humvee and immediately set up a roadblock, raising his machine gun. 0

The patrol captain squinted at the vehicle and recognized it as a military Humvee with the conspicuous license plate ga?0000. He quickly stepped forward, slapped the soldier on the head, and scolded, "Get out of the way, you blind fool." 0

Pushing aside the roadblock, he hurried to the side of the Humvee and nodded with a smile to Zhang Yu inside. "Young Commander, you're here! Please forgive those kids; they don't know any better. Please come in." 0

"Wu Zi, right? You've become a captain now. Keep up the good work; you have a bright future ahead." Zhang Yu flashed his signature charming smile and nodded at the patrol captain. 0

Su Ruolan keenly noticed that unlike his slightly malicious yet somewhat sympathetic smile towards Qin Zhi Han or his playful teasing towards her, Zhang Yu's smile towards others was aristocratic—both distant and warm. 0

Wu Buli excitedly nodded repeatedly. "Yes, yes! I can't believe you remember me. I will definitely do my best and not let you down." He turned around and waved his hand. "Why haven't you cleared the way? Let Young Commander enter the city." 0

Su Ruolan pressed down on the accelerator as they slowly drove into H Base. 0

Just ten meters inside the city, a group of soldiers approached and blocked their path. "Please exit the vehicle for an entry inspection and surrender thirty percent of your supplies as an entry protection fee." 0

Wu Buli quickly stepped forward. "Liu Dan, this is Young Commander's vehicle; let them through." 0

"Young Commander!" Upon hearing this title and seeing the license plate, the soldiers immediately stood at attention and saluted. 0

“Young Commander, it's the rule to undergo a health check upon entering the city, so please don’t make it difficult for us,” Liu Dan said awkwardly after saluting. 0

“Fine, I haven't been here for a while, and it seems quite a few issues have arisen,” Zhang Yu replied, his smile fading as he sensed being put on the spot in front of Su Ruolan. His expression turned serious, exuding an air of authority that demanded respect. 0

At that moment, hurried footsteps approached, and a short, plump middle-aged man came forward with a broad smile. “Young Commander, I heard you were coming, so I dropped everything to be here immediately. I apologize for not welcoming you properly.” 0

“Colonel Jiang, when did my vehicle need to be stopped at H Base? My people need to get checked. If you can't manage this place well, there are plenty of others willing to take your place,” Zhang Yu said without holding back, adjusting his posture in the car as he faced Colonel Jiang with a mocking tone. 0

A hint of embarrassment flashed across Colonel Jiang's face as he quickly lowered his voice. “That absolutely won't happen again. Please, go ahead. The staff below are inexperienced; I will make sure to discipline them properly.” 0

“Let’s go,” Zhang Yu said with commanding authority. 0

Go? Where exactly are you going? Su Ruolan thought to herself, but she could only continue moving forward. 0

The vehicle sped ahead, leaving Colonel Jiang in a cloud of exhaust fumes. Watching the Hummer disappear into the distance, Colonel Jiang's sycophantic smile vanished, replaced by a dark expression as he clenched his right fist tightly at his side. 0

“What nonsense! They can do whatever they want; if they get hurt by a Zombie and bring the virus into the city, it threatens all the citizens,” one tall soldier behind Liu Dan spat out. 0

“Exactly! Captain Qin brought back so many supplies and made such a significant contribution while getting seriously injured, yet he was still quarantined for 48 hours,” another soldier chimed in. 0

“Alright, there are too many people talking here. Let’s focus on our work and keep quiet,” Liu Dan instructed everyone to disperse and get back to their tasks. He glanced at the departing Hummer and the visibly displeased Colonel Jiang, his gaze filled with unspoken meaning. 0
