"I'm sorry, but due to confidentiality principles, I can't tell you." Luo Guohui calmly rejected Yang Xiaoyou's inquiry while looking at the entrance of the Umbrella Building, which was not far away. 0

"There must be some kind of law regarding these man-eating monsters. You must know something! My classmates and teachers are still missing," Yang Xiaoyou muttered, appearing frustrated yet unable to express her anger. 0

Suddenly, her expression changed, and she nervously asked, "C-confidentiality principle? I-I won't be silenced, will I?" 0

Gradually engaging in conversation, Yang Xiaoyou aimed to steer the discussion toward this issue. 0

"I promise you, I won't let you get into any trouble," Luo Guohui hesitated for a moment before making the assurance. Compared to this difficult-to-conceal incident, whether a Survivor kept quiet seemed less significant than the success of his upcoming mission. 0

Upon receiving this promise, Yang Xiaoyou felt a sense of relief. 0

In her memories from that life, she had been taken out of the city by Luo Guohui, flying in a helicopter sent for him. This time, although her unique circumstances were not exposed, if she were to be taken away under a simple confidentiality agreement, it could lead to considerable trouble. 0

Her family was not like other members who had come over; if she were to be locked up somewhere under baseless accusations, that would be a tragedy. Now she needed to secure a promise from Luo Guohui before entering. 0

Of course, given Luo Guohui's position and influence, his promise would only be useful to himself. Yang Xiaoyou sought this commitment merely as an excuse for her future actions. 0

At least according to Yang Xiaoyou's recollections, as long as she did not infringe upon his Homeland's interests, this fellow's promise would hold considerable reliability for him. 0

"It seems like someone has already been here." Looking at the remarkably clean entrance of the Umbrella Building, Yang Xiaoyou couldn't help but furrow her brow. 0

There was no hint of pretense in her emotions; the scene from her memory showed that when she and Luo Guohui passed through here before, it had taken considerable effort. Yet now, the dozen or so corpses that should have been scattered around the entrance were all lying on the ground. 0

Seeing that most of them had been shot in the head made Yang Xiaoyou's heart sink slightly; she hadn't expected changes to occur so soon. 0

"The absence of other corpses indicates professional handling. If it wasn't this fellow's companions, then it must have been the Janitor. Well, according to my memories, we weren't part of the first group that went down; they just didn't take this route. But it could also be a new wave. Did I inadvertently do something that affected their actions? Or did our movement cause some interference? I hope there aren't too many uncertainties," Yang Xiaoyou thought as she gazed at the corpses on the ground, her expression hidden beneath her helmet darkening. 0

Since she was already set on changing her fate, there would undoubtedly be shifts in future trajectories. However, she never expected that just at the beginning of this journey, changes significant enough to affect her would arise. 0

"I hope nothing unexpected happens," she murmured softly while tightening her grip on the military crossbow. 0

"Here, take this. You might encounter 'people' down there, so don't take off the helmet. Remember, don't hesitate." Just as Yang Xiaoyou was lost in thought, Luo Guohui pulled a handgun from his waist and tossed it to him. 0

With the crossbow slung on his back, Yang Xiaoyou awkwardly handled the modified 9mm pistol he received, nodding slightly after a moment of practice. 0

He had looted the Gun Supermarket and brought out several handguns, but before meeting Luo Guohui, he had found a relatively decent spot to stash them. Those guns weren't meant for him anyway. This modified 9mm, which he had previously handled, was equipped with a silencer and laser guidance, making it far more practical than the standard civilian models outside the Gun Supermarket. 0

Following Luo Guohui into the lobby of the Umbrella Building, Yang Xiaoyou watched as he examined the wounds of a corpse on the floor. "Is this your companion? Or an enemy?" Yang Xiaoyou asked quietly. 0

"This group can be considered companions for now, but their mission differs from ours," Luo Guohui replied calmly after inspecting the corpse. 0

He then resolutely stood up and led Yang Xiaoyou to the elevator in the lobby. He removed the exterior button panel and connected a palm-sized electronic device to two ports inside. 0

After a series of beeps, he swiped a magnetic card, and the elevator doors opened with a soft chime. 0

Once inside the elevator, Yang Xiaoyou noticed that only one indicator light was lit, displaying the letters "AE." Without hesitation, Luo Guohui pressed that solitary indicator light. 0

With a ding, the elevator doors opened to what appeared to be an empty parking lot. However, no one was inside until just as the doors were about to close when a figure flipped down from above and rolled out. 0

"All clear. Come down," said the figure after assessing the surroundings. It then held the elevator door open while another somewhat clumsy fellow climbed down from above. 0

Stepping into this familiar yet strange place again, Yang Xiaoyou seemed to exude a different aura that caught Luo Guohui's attention. 0

"The laboratory doors are already open. Besides my companions, you might also encounter 'terrorists.' If you see anyone in white protective suits, don't hesitate to find cover; if there's no cover available, shoot directly. 0

Also, take this notebook. Remember the instructions inside. When needed, I will rely on your help. Stick with me for your own safety; I'll handle any dangers," Luo Guohui said with an air of strong confidence despite his calm tone. 0

Before them stood a titanium-gray metallic giant door that had been forced open and remained ajar. Sparks occasionally flickered from its edges, indicating it had been forcibly breached. 0

Beyond that door lay a pristine silver corridor—the origin of this viral outbreak: Overcast Laboratory. 0

Holding the instruction manual in hand and repeatedly asking questions that he had already inquired about from memory, Yang Xiaoyou understood that his next phase of planning had taken another step forward. 0

Now, he could only hope that the changes brought about by the altered trajectory would not affect his plans. 0

The Cloud System, the central control superbrain of the Overcast Laboratory in the next era, operated at a speed exceeding petaflops per second, encompassing the entire Overcast Laboratory within its control. 0

Luo Guohui's mission this time was to extract the core brain module of the Cloud System, aiming to retrieve the experimental data stored within. 0

From what he recalled later on, this operation dispatched a combat personnel like Luo Guohui instead of technical staff because even the most skilled technicians would find it nearly impossible to forcibly breach the Cloud System's defense mechanisms. 0

However, through a few simple maintenance commands, it was possible to temporarily open a passage to the interior. Beyond the external cleaning area, there existed a comprehensive automated defense system. Luo Guohui's task was to leverage his exceptional skills to infiltrate using the maintenance command, reach the core brain, and temporarily incapacitate it with a violent electromagnetic pulse before extracting the storage chip. 0

His own role in this operation was to input a cleaning command from outside to allow Luo Guohui entry. Once the door automatically closed and the mainframe rebooted, he would input another command for Luo Guohui to exit. 0

As he remembered, it took nearly an hour for Luo Guohui to breach the defense network, forcefully pulse the core brain, and remove its core. This meant he had about an hour to carry out his own actions and achieve his objectives. 0

The most remarkable aspect was that due to the violent reboot caused by the pulse, the laboratory's monitoring system would be unable to record anything during that time. Additionally, the originally locked laboratory door would be released from its lock after the core brain suffered an electromagnetic attack. 0

As they moved forward, flickering lights and disordered office spaces filled with corpses became the primary 'scenery' of this super laboratory. 0

The footsteps of the two echoed in the empty laboratory, seemingly highlighting its desolation; however, the corpses on the ground indicated that other presences still lingered here. 0

Clearly, those who had entered before were brutal and violent. Aside from the corpses scattered around, there were not many that could pose real trouble. 0

Moreover, after problems arose in the laboratory, the central control brain activated emergency protocols. In this facility with thousands of research personnel, most corpses had been effectively isolated. 0

"Don't worry; I can handle such simple commands," Yang Xiaoyou assured with a chuckle. "I still have some interest in computer aspects. However, when we activate it for the second time, we might need to consider some changes; it may delay opening the door a bit." 0

If one were to consider his current self, aside from playing games and watching anime online, he was completely in the dark about everything else. However, due to his need to escape in dire situations, while he specialized only in combat skills, he had acquired a diverse range of knowledge. Thus, he felt quite confident as he patted his chest. 0

With the memory of having done this once already, Yang Xiaoyou was confident that the input of instructions would go smoothly this time. However, he still took some precautions for the actions he was about to undertake. 0

Hearing Yang Xiaoyou's response, Luo Guohui felt quite satisfied. For a makeshift recruit, being able to reach this point without dragging anyone down was already commendable. 0

As for whether Yang Xiaoyou might end up locking himself inside, Luo Guohui wasn't overly concerned. Exiting the laboratory would require him to lead the way, and once the passage was sealed off, the other party would temporarily lose their protection. The sooner Yang Xiaoyou completed his mission and got out, the safer he would be. 0

Compared to the potential changes that might occur with this young man, Luo Guohui was more worried about the others currently in the laboratory. His comrades from the Special Operations Group were fine; even though there were some tensions due to differences in background, there wasn't much to worry about during missions. However, if any of the Janitors shared similar goals with him, then the young man outside could be in considerable danger. 0

If something went wrong on their end, it would likely mean mission failure. 0

Thus, as he moved through several areas of the vast laboratory, Luo Guohui continuously provided Yang Xiaoyou with emergency methods and practical skills. 0

During this time, Yang Xiaoyou also brought up some bottlenecks and troubles he encountered while reviewing his memories related to Aspects. 0

Having a memory imprint and experiencing physical changes allowed Yang Xiaoyou to gain far more from this traversal than Luo Guohui had anticipated, even exceeding Yang Xiaoyou's own expectations. 0

"It seems what I lack now is combat experience. However, forging a strong heart isn't an easy task," Yang Xiaoyou thought as he watched the metallic door of the passage slowly open and saw Luo Guohui step inside. A glimmer of determination flashed in his eyes. Once the protective door closed behind him, he left without hesitation and walked toward the distance. 0
